Tesla vs Optiq

Tesla owner here who is tired of Tesla's shitty customer service (even if the cars themselves are great...ish)...

I'm intrigued by the Optiq.... a few questions:

  1. Here in TX I'm surprised to see very few on-lot models have ventilated seats. Is this because the Optiq seats don't get very hot? I HATE Tesla non-ventilated seats. My ass feels like bacon in a skillet... How will Optiq compare (if I get a non-ventilated Optiq)?

  2. I hate Tesla build quality (even if I love the EV tech)... rattles, squeeks, mismatched panels, etc... How will Optiq compare?

  3. I'm thinking of getting the one-payment lease option. Is that a bad idea? I tend to get a new car every 2-3 years..

Any other Tesla (model 3 or Y) vs Optiq thoughts??

Summit (or Millenium) Aquaclass Deck 11 in Alaska (aft) - aft facing cabin or side facing cabin?

We like things quiet... I'm worried the aft will get noise from the movies above and the bar in the back...

BUT - would the views be much better from the aft cabin???

Does this product exist? Battery powered pump/fountain that solar charges during the day and runs at night (to cool your pool)?

If it doesn't.... someone should invent it!

Cooling advice....

In SE Texas... borderline if we even need a chiller because we have good shade... BUT, I'm wondering if my logic is correct?

  1. Roughly 12,000-15,000 gallon pool. Our 200k btu gas heater raises it 3 degrees per hour. Sometime a little faster.

  2. I'm debating a small heat pump for chilling. We are max looking for 2-5 degrees of cooling overnight during peak season (lowering it from max low 90s to upper 80s).

  3. Would a 50k btu heat pump do it? I'm thinking that should lower it about 1 degree or even half a degree per hour (which would be fine). I'm finding highly rated 50k units for about $1,000 - $1,200 (NOT installed). Power consumption looks low (like 3 kw per hour).

Is this logic correct?

Unleashed dog bites in The Woodlands… How do you handle them?

Newish resident here. Curious how others have handled this kind of situation in The Woodlands?

Our dog was mauled by an off leash dog owned by a neighbor. One serious deep bite. We were literally walking down the public street. My dog leashed. Offending dog was unleashed in neighbors front yard and darted over. Human also slightly injured (scratches through pants but they were bleeding… human cuts never directly exposed to other dog).

Neighbor ran out and had to wrestle her dog off my dog. Her dog would not respond to commands. Neighbor notorious for having offending dog off leash in neighborhood (many witnesses). In fact, multiple neighbors on our street like to let their dogs run free in front yards (play date style)… and these loose dogs have approached our dog in the street during walks. Note: we **always** leash our dog in our neighborhood public areas and front yard… We know there is a leash law…

Anyway, at first we didn’t think our dog was seriously wounded because the bite was hidden deep in his fur. The human scratches are minor but there was blood. We took pictures. Our initial plan was just to let it go.

However, a day later we realized our dog‘s injury was significant and began trying to treat it ourselves. We notified the neighbor via text and sent her pictures. Neighbor responded casually/minimally and verified vax status of her dog but offered no apology and no other help in any way. We’ve had no verbal conversations.

Next day we went to vet because bite wasnt healing on its own. Bill was $600. Sent to neighbor and asked for reimbursement. We’ve also had to cancel a vacation because we can’t board our dog until he heals. And we had to take PTO for vet.

We haven’t yet filed a police report or contacted animal control. We still can (it’s been less than a week) but we hear the offending dog will likely be taken away (because of the human injury) and we dont know if we want to cause that to happen. Truly, we just want the owner to leash the damn thing and pay for the direct damage caused. So far, all she’s said is she will “review” the bill. My sense is she’s trying to find a way not to pay...

I know this scenario has probably played itself out a hundred times in The Woodlands... and we want to be good neighbors… any advice or suggestions?

Dog bite rights (TX) and damages

Location: Houston TX area. Occurred this past Monday. Any advice?

Our dog was mauled by an off leash dog owned by a neighbor. One serious deep bite. We were literally walking down the public street. My dog leashed. Offending dog was unleashed in neighbors front yard and darted over. Human also slightly injured (scratches through pants but they were bleeding… human cuts never directly exposed to other dog).

Neighbor ran out and had to wrestle dog off my dog. Her dog would not respond to commands. Neighbor notorious for having offending dog off leash in neighborhood (many witnesses). We DO have county leash law…

At first we didn’t think our dog was seriously wounded because it was deep in his fur. Human scratches are minor but there was blood. We took pictures. Our initial plan was to let it go.

On Wednesday we realized dog injury was significant and began trying to treat it ourselves. Notified neighbor via text and sent her pictures. Neighbor responded casually/minimum and verified vax status but no apology or offer to help in any way. We’ve had no verbal conversations.

On Friday we went to vet because bite wasnt healing. Bill was $600. Sent to neighbor and asked for reimbursement. No reply. We’ve also had to cancel a vacation because we can’t board the dog until he heals. Did get full refund for vacation but we wont be a able to reschedule because it was for Memorial Day and we had day off. Had to take PTO for vet.

Question: If we sue in small claims can we only sue for actual vet bills? This has been real trauma for us…

Also we are debating police report and animal control report. We hear if we contact animal control the offending dog will be taken away (because of the human injury) and we dont know if we want to cause that (we just want her to leash the damn thing). However… we probably need police report to sue?

Thank you for any help!

My elderly parents moved within Texas.... and we believe they were (likely) stolen from...

They've just discovered their small safe is missing (yes, I know they probably should NOT have sent it through movers but they are old... and are perfect victims). They saw the safe removed from their home but now realize it was never delivered. They contacted moving co. who said they will "look into it" but nothing further.... Yes, yes... they could have paid closer attention.

Does anyone have advice on how to handle the situation at this point? I'm guessing its gone and we won't get it back...

I'm hearing: file police report (in progress), send written notice to moving co., file bbb complaint (done), and (possibly) contact TXDOT.

Am I missing anything?

Advice is appreciated. Moving company is a big one based in Dallas (All My Sons).

UPDATE: When confronted, the Moving Company claimed they put the safe in a bedroom closet. It wasn't put there. When they were told that, they claimed some workers onsite (who are family friends) MUST have stolen it.. They didn't. My sense is this was an organized theft...

Ok I've bought two Teslas... and the service was never great... but Jesus... has it declined that much or am I just (un)lucky?

  1. Offered a lease deal, and excellent trade value, so put in an order.

  2. Final trade value came back $100 HIGHER than offer! Looking good!

  3. Lease deal comes back and instead of getting $6,200 back on my paid off vehicle, it now says $4,200 back. Payment same as initially promised. Note: Have excellent 750+ credit, high(ish) income, and no debt other than a mortgage which is not high relative to income. No reason not to get "best" offer...

  4. Reach out to Tesla and ask for explanation on discrepancy. Did I not get lowest interest rate? What changed? No reply at all for like 24 hours. Finally a "we'll have an advisor call you soon" reply. Nobody calls.

  5. Wait another day. Lose the VIN assigned. Send another message asking for a manager. Get a reply saying "we're sorry" and "a manager will respond to you within 24 hours." Nobody replies.

  6. Another day goes by, I get message offering to cancel and saying "sorry no manager is available."

  7. Note my question about financing discrepancy never addressed. Nobody ever replied.

Is this normal at Tesla these days?

So we really only have flies... no mosquitoes (or very few) and really nothing else that is a major bother. We are using Bio-Tech for ground bugs like ants, and they are basically gone.

BUT FLIES are annoying as F*CK.

We are spraying our trash and using other devices - so we don't think much is coming from our trash. Flies aren't flying out when we open it. We pick up dog poop promptly. We have Bugbane fly traps on our property (Two - thinking of getting more - they fill up).

We THINK the issue is neighbors and that is where the flies are coming from. Obviously we can't force the neighbors to do what we do, but is there anything else we can do on our 10,000 square foot lot (surrounded by other lots, no greenbelt)???

All ideas welcome!

I've seen conflicting information on this....

Right now I have the 4.1 setup (2 wireless, soundbar, sub). Can I buy two more wireless and will it work or not (to create true 5.1).

The move is from San Antonio area to Houston area (about 250 miles). There was less than a week of "storage" in between pickup and delivery. We're talking a 3 bedroom, 2100 square foot house. Average to just above average amount of "stuff." Only ONE appliance moved (a refrigerator) - all others left behind. One of the bedrooms was basically empty (no bed or anything) but there was some tools in the garage (like a quarter of a small two car garage's worth). Outdoor furniture was left behind.

The moving company (arranged by my Dad who I know is an easy mark) insisted TWO full size moving trucks and a crew of SIX people was required. The total cost is around $12,000. This seemed outrageous to me. I really don't think a second truck was needed...

Did he get scammed?

EDIT: Please keep in mind general costs of services in Texas are much lower than the coastal states...
