Best Resources For Civil FE

Hey, I wanted to start studying for the civil FE and I keep seeing people talking about MM and Islam. I know MM has free stuff, but is the Islam everyone is referring to the $90 "FE Mechanical Review Manual with 750 Solved Problems?" If so, is it worth it? Also, what other resources do you all recommend, and if they are worth a bit, are they worth it? TIA

Question About Alluvial Fans- What are the different stages?

This is my first geology class, and for part of my assignment, I have to identify alluvial fans at 3 different stages on a specific map provided by the teacher. She never went over the different stages, and I can't really find anything about different stages of alluvial fans online. She wants me to identify early, mid, and late stage fans from the map. Would anyone please help by showing me examples of each, so I know what to look for? Thanks

Question About Rock Cycle

I am not asking for a homework answer, I just want to know if my thought process is right.

I am working on an assignment where I need to choose a mineral, an igneous rock containing that mineral, a sedimentary rock that can be formed through weathering of the igneous rock (and still contains the mineral), and a metamorphic rock that has one of the other rocks as its protolith (and still contains the mineral). My mineral is plagioclase, and my igneous rock is basalt. Is it correct to say that weathering of basalt can result in shale, which can then become gneiss through metamorphism?

Pursue Structural or Switch to Traffic?

I am studying general civil engineering and am set to graduate next year in the summer. I am interested in structural engineering, but I don't have any internship or work experience (not even flipping burgers, unfortunately). The thing is, I was introduced to a job opportunity where I would have a guaranteed position with the government, but it would deal with traffic as opposed to structures. I haven't done my electives yet and am about to enroll in a senior project, so I have to make a decision soon so I make sure to take the relevant courses. Should I pursue structural engineering, or should I jump on this opportunity? Please advise

Almost Made a Mistake

Y'all...I never knew what tree of heaven was before i started getting posts from this sub. I remember a few years back, I saw a tree and thought it looked nice and was thinking of propagating it and growing it in my backyard. I DID NOT, but recently I went back to where I saw the tree and it was literally ALL. OVER. I now realize it was tree of heaven..I still think it looks nice, but seeing the hell it puts everyone through, I'm thankful I didn't ever follow through with that idea. And I'm even more grateful I encountered this sub. I do have a question though, does it reproduce easily, like if somehow a leaf got on my shoe, and I brought it home, could it grow with how invasive its nature is? Stupid I know, but I'm curious haha

Help With Starter

I haven't fed my starter in over a month. I took it out of the fridge yesterday and let it get to room temperature, after which I fed it. My starter amount was 4 cups, and I fed it 1 cup flour and 1/2 cup water. After 12 hours, I did not see any growth/activity. So, today I got rid of 1/2 of the starter, and fed the remaining 2 cups with 2/3 cup of flour and 2/3 cup of water. This method worked for me previously, but there has been no growth this time either after 3 hours so far. Do I wait or feed it again? How do I revive my starter? TIA

Advice on Which Field to Enter

I'm in my last year as a general civil engineering major, and I'm going to have to start picking electives and working on a senior project. The major dabbles in a little bit of everything, and I find it all interesting, but I can't make a decision. Can you all share your opinions on whatever fields you're familiar with? (structural, environmental/water, traffic, or surveying). I unfortunately do not have internship experience, as I've only been in this major for one year. TIA

Return Sent Back

I just sent in a return to ASICS and according to the tracking, it reached its destination in Mississippi, but I was surprised to see the package at my front door this morning. Why would they have sent it back after it successfully delivered to them and was signed for? The box appears to have been opened, and my label was removed. Does anyone know what the reason could be?

I was hoping someone could give me reputable and reliable vendor to purchase a pure-gold ball stud earring. What karat would be best for this type of earring, and what is a reasonable price for it? I would like to buy it online, but if it is better in person, anywhere is California, please. TYIA
