Please Pray for the weeks leading up to midterms

For those who haven’t seen, the United States president Donald Trump made two incredibly alarming statements as of recent.

He humorously said it’d be a small sacrifice if Iran bombed Los Angeles and Sandiego. San Diego is my birthplace, and also where some of my closest family members live.

Secondly, he said that Russ Vought, the Director of US office management and Budget, as well as the author behind Project 2025, has a “big suprise” that will supposedly “make history”

Reading the writing on the wall, it seems rather clear that they are going to do everything in their power to withhold the power of the people during midterm elections.

For those outside the US, please pray for us.

This also goes for Brazil. They are in my prayers.

God Bless

Vent: please pray for me, I want to stop feeling anger towards my ancestry and faith

CONTENT WARNING: Religious and moral OCD/Scrupulosity. The following images are images I have found that have reinforced my thoughts of self loathing

As I have delved deeper into leftist theory, I have become more constantly filled with thoughts of guilt and anger towards my ancestors, my ethnic background(s) and my catholic faith. I don’t want to feel this way, but I am beginning to feel as though this is the price I have to pay to be on the right side of history and partake in liberation theology.

I’m angry at my recent ancestors for casting off so much of our culture to assimilate to the USA. For reference, I am of Sicilian, Czech, and Ashkenazi on my mother’s side and German (probably Frankish peasant stock), Finnish, and Anglo-Saxon American

By listening to fellow leftists I have learned that, the baseline for white people after you strip away our unique cultures is apparently hatred and rottenness

I feel as though my people wouldn’t have contributed anything positively meaningful if it weren’t for our systems of oppression

I learned that even classical European music
Is stolen from Africa as well, even before European settler colonialism!

I feel a guilt and hatred for being a Catholic, because our history is so depraved and violent. I wish we had stories of righteous resistance against regime like the Coptic Christians, not to be the lapdog of empires. I wish our denomination wasn’t so anthropocentric, I wish it was like Celtic Christianity or Ethiopian Christianity and saw wild nature as divine and not pagan. Instead, we have not gone a single century without making scapegoats

I’m scared that the Muslims got it right, and we’re the ones who fucked up by worshipping a revolutionary who’s words got twisted by the Roman Empire, an empire my Sicilian ancestors bent the knee to.

I don’t want to feel these ways, but I feel like this is only the tip of the iceberg of what I and fellow white Catholics deserve to experience for my people’s crimes against the world. If that is the case, I will bear it like penance and continue to work toward dismantling oppression and inequality. If not, please at least pray for me.

So is Eclipse of Asian or European descent?

So I just finished the finished pilot of PPIDWBAMG, and I loved it! The animation was gorgeous, all the characters were fun to watch do their things, and the voice actors knocked it out of the park!

The only thing I’m a bit confused on is what Eclipses ethnic background is.

Seeing as this series is probably going to have at least some meaningful commentary on race and ethnicity based on Zira’s comment about black magical girls, I reckon that all the human character’s ethnicities were chosen for a reason.

Eclipse has blonde hair, making me think he is of mostly European descent. However, it’s also possible that he’s of Asian descent, and , like Aika, he simply dyes his hair which would otherwise be black or dark brown.

It should also be noted that his VA Aleks Le is of Asian heritage (specifically Vietnamese)
And that the other human character’s ethnicities more or less correspond to those of their VA’s

I’m not for or against him being any particular race/etnhicity btw, I’m mostly just curious

Vent The news of irreversible climate change has shaken my faith

I am so angry and ashamed.

We had so many opportunities to stop this, and we didn’t.

I hate myself and my ethnicity and my European Christian heritage. It’s our fault that our species will die and that this unbearably hot summer is the most pleasant it’s going to be for the rest of our lives. All of our ecological destruction, and greed, and raping of earth for more money and power over non Europeans and non Christians.

Is this what God wanted when he commanded Adam and Eve to dominate the earth in genesis? Is that why nature is always seen as pagan?

Why is it that European Christianity and western so wrong? Why couldn’t we get it right like literally every Christian east of us? The eastern Catholics, the Orthodox, the Syriac, the Nasrani. These groups don’t have the problems of “saving” people by tormenting the downtrodden and denying them basic needs while turning a blind eye to the greedy because “muh forgiveness” and “muh he who is without sin cast the first stone” horseshit.

At least When Mongolians did colonialism and genocide, the earth benefited from it. European Christians. couldn’t even do that right.

Fuck.

God help us.

Any of you know of Father Josash P Thomas? If so, what are your thoughts on his stuff?

I’m considering picking up his book The Justice For Jesus. A big part of the book is about criticizing what he calls the “colonizers gospel” which is basically how so many missionaries narrowed down Jesus’s message to saving souls while disregarding earthly manmade injustices and poverty caused by colonialism.

For those who have read his work, what are ur thoughts on them?

Need help with details on my alt history project where at least some of the Pleistocene megafauna weren’t over killed by humans

I’m trying to make an alt history project that details human history all the way to our modern day where at least some of the Pleistocene-Early Holocene megafauna survived alongside us.

There are some questions I should probably find an answer to before getting started:

  1. If it were not for human overhunting, which species could have survived the climate change?

  2. How would human migrations across the world have to be altered to make megafauna more equipped to realistically survived? Would they have had to migrated slower give megafauna more time to adapt to humans?

  3. Would Australia still need a giant river running through it to sustain the megafauna?

  4. What should I keep in mind when Im developing cultures and religions when megafauna is a factor?

Thanks for the Help!

Need Help Understanding Trinity

I want to understand it and think the right way about it but for the longest time I’ve just tried to ignore it because

  1. If I think too hard about it I start thinking about it either being polytheism or like the Mormon view of the Trinity, which is a problem because I’m Catholic.

  2. The Filioque and the matter of who person proceeds from who makes me uncomfortable if I think about it too hard, and is also one of the reasons I’ve contemplated converting from Roman Catholicism to a Catholicism of the Byzantine Rite.

Laudibiliter and Celtic Christianity confusion

So, just so I understand:

Irish Celtic Christianity was in communion before the Laudibiliter by pope Adrian IV allowed the Anglo Normans to invade Ireland, correct?

There’s this St Thomas Priest named Father P Josash (you should check him out, he’s really cool) who talks about Celtic Christianity being a good example for white Christians. He talked about how the western Catholic church condemned it and allowed the Anglo Norman’s to stomp it out. From what I’ve gathered, Celtic Christianity was already in communion with the Church and that pope Adrian had personal ulterior motives when giving the Laudibiliter. He also brings up pelagianism and talks about how it was decreed a heresy because it challenged the control of empire.

Can someone help clarify? I feel like he has some points tbh

I’m not strong enough to cut off my immediate family that voted trump

I’m too weak to cut them off. I have seen other people with less financial security
do so, and yet I cannot. They’ve done so much for me and continue to do so, and I know they’d do anything for me. But here they are voting multiple times for the party that is desecrating the dignity of our siblings in Christ. They assured me they did it for the economy, but looking at the state of things shows me that failed miserably. They’re too cowardly to admit that they fell for the fear mongering, and now because of their votes, black people are getting lynched as the police flagrantly turns a blind eye, our food is unsafe to eat because of cut regulations, farms go out of business, another war in the Middle East to distract from child sex trafficking, and brown skinned Catholics are ripped from their families and raped in detention facilities. I wish I was stronger. I’m not strong enough to cut them off and deny them forgiveness until further notice. I’ve grown fat and complacent with their support.

Please Pray for me, so that I may find the strength to leave them behind.

Does anyone know why the Grimoire of Pope Leo was falsely attributed to him?

I was initially excited to learn about this supposed grimoire when someone brought it up in response to the bi annual “caths are heckin scary so they must be satanists” social media drivel. You can imagine my disappointment when it turned out not to be a spell book written by Pope Leo III to ward off evil, but made by anonymous hucksters who falsely attributed it to him. Does anyone know why such a thing would be attributed to him?

[Loved Trope] They fear death because they DO know what happens when they die

Unlike IRL, where there’s uncertainty about what happens when we die, these poor shmucks know what could await them when they die.

Goblins in the Forgotten Realms (DnD)

In early 5e, goblins were cowardly dirty tricksters who hate getting into head on fights because they know that when they die, their souls are enslaved by Maglubiyet in the lower plane of Acheron to battle and toil and die over and over for all eternity.

Eldar (Warhammer 40K)

For the last 10,000 ish years of the setting, whenever an Eldar dies, their souls will be devoured by the chaos god slaanesh, the god of unspeakable excess and agony. If they don’t have some counter measures in place to preserve their souls during their moment of death (Spirit stones, soul capturing cloning technology, the attention of another god, etc.) , they are screwed.

Mortals (Warhammer Age of Sigmar)

Nagash, the God of undeath, ate most of the other gods of death in the prehistory of the setting, so a good portion of the afterlives are under his control. This means that there’s a good chance that if you did something in life that offends Nagash, he will turn your soul into one of the Nighthaunt. The things that offend him include things like being a doctor or healer of some sort, because you denied him souls, and as a result he might turn you into a ghost with scythes for hands that has to watch as you butcher everything in front of you as you are unable to control your body

Hypothetically, which culture’s customs of earning a coat of arms should I follow based on my ancestry?

My mother and I were initially interested in getting a family crest, only to learn that those are mostly a modern thing that aren’t historically accurate, and that, save for royal families (which we aren’t) coats of arms and heraldic achievements are personal and earned.

I do know, however, know that the traditions of obtaining a coat of arms and/or a heraldic
achievement varies from culture to culture.

My question now is: Which culture’s customs should I follow based on my ancestry

On my father’s side, it is mostly:

- German

- Finnish

- Anglo American (btw, could I hypothetically put futhorc runes somewhere in my heraldic achievement?)

On my Mother’s side, it is mostly:

- Sicilian

- Czech

- Ashkenazi

I know it’s usually the father’s ancestry that is prioritized in stuff like this, but my father doesn’t really care as much as my mother does, so that add another layer to this I imagine.

Any and all pointers would be appreciated

Thank you all!

I ask for forgiveness for my previous behavior

My previous tirade about white Christians and my self loathing as a Catholic of European heritage was uncalled for, and I see I have some struggles I need to work on.

Turns out it was part of manic episode, which explains why I hadnt gotten much sleep the day prior to those posts or the days after that.

Anyways, back to the main point

I believe The Holy Trinity has driven me to seek out ways to help improve the conditions of all peoples of the world, but I have been filled with guilt about being part of the very same groups of people that caused the conditions we’ve been facing for the last 500 years. I feel as though Christ’s tenets of turning the other cheek don’t work in more modern times with chattel slavery and civil rights. BIPOC got their freedoms with the threat of rightful revolution against whites, not by turning the other cheek. I’ve tried listening to BIPOC leftists and a big part of their message towards white leftists* felt like dealing out a little bit of rightful vengeance against us, calling us people who have evil built into us, to understand that we all are to blame, and that we can’t avoid accountability because who’s fault would it be if I’m
not to blame?

*I don’t like calling myself a leftist or a right winger, I just believe what I believe, politically speaking.

Once again I pray for your forgiveness, and I hope I can be of better use in the efforts for a better future for all. God bless you all

Leftism, Catholicism, and Rightful self loathing. Part 1(?) of why I hate being white and catholic

If I am misguided in my views, pray for me.

I’ve been trying to get into more leftist thought and have been watching some more leftist content creators. In my findings I found out that white leftists, like myself*, are still just as wretched as right leaning whites and center-whites. We just want access to the privileges of whiteness that we were denied by some other variable because we are inadequate beings. If we were to give BIPOC a level playing field, we would be rightfully outbred and go extinct. This is because we are a pathetic strain of our species and yet we had the Gaul to depict God with our features.

*I don’t really like calling myself Left or right or whatever, but you get the idea

I’m going to put these thoughts in bullet points for convenience, but they all are related to the ills of whiteness and why it has no place in our church.

>whiteness is a collection of awful qualities (objectivity, fragility, revisionism, hatred/disregard for nature, just to name a few). Meanwhile, blackness, Asian-ness, and Turtle islander-ness are lovely things to be celebrated.

> playing devils advocate, I’d argue that, while race isn’t a biological thing, I would argue that there is/are some more closely related genetic cluster(s) that could be put under the umbrella of “white”. As a result, those who do fall under these closely related genetic clusters are predisposed to be worse both in the eyes of man and The Holy Trinity than BIPOC. Yet, curiously, we have managed to convince certain groups that they too can be white (namely Latinos for trump). My Italian and west Slavic ancestors probably did something similar when immigrating to the USA.

> IDK who, but some people in this sub were talking about, because Europe is materially different and detached from the region Christianity arose from due to the collapse of the Roman Empire. As a result, European culture syncretizing with Christianity is a faulty practice that the world is better off without. Other European cultures after the fall of the Roman Empire didn’t have cultures. They larped off of the Romans and then started raping and pillaging the rest of the world to further hide our inadequacies.

> “But black Americans did the same thing with Egypt!” They have a right to do it. We whites don’t.

> The progress towards overcoming whiteness feels very similar to what people might call Catholic guilt and the pursuit of washing away Augustinian original sin. I am surprised that there aren’t as many BIPOC with a rightful bone to pick in roles of clergy.

>the ideology of “turning the other cheek” has been used to browbeat any sort of pushback or resistance from oppression. Us Whites have abused this pearl of wisdom to use against those we committed violence on in the first place. Knowing that our God is Just, They would certainly be okay with the eradication and rape of us whites. Just look at the peoples who oppressed or threatened the Israelites in the Old Testament for proof.

Signified B Sides (This is how I learned that us whites give black peoples fleas, when the fleas shouldn’t be able to survive in their hair)

TLDR: I have been convinced by leftists that the global Catholic community would be better off if us whites were either greatly reduced in number, stripped of some of the opportunities that we have, or just outright eliminated.

Siblings in Christ, I falter again.

TW: Crises of Faith. DO NOT READ THIS IS YOU ARE PRONE TO CRISES OF FAITH

TLDR: I’m struggling with Jesus’ divinity and what that entails for our God’s primordial nature conflicting with a harmful culture of anthropocentrism that has been with Christianity for centuries, as well as my fear of being part of the most successful cult of personality

So the other day. I was having a conversation with my dear jewish friend about the table top war game trench crusade. Long story short, it’s about a war between the armies of the faithful (those who worship the Abrahamic god) and the armies of the fallen (those who worship demons and love craft monsters)

“I mean, I’d rather worship a demon than a human.”

I just sort of just laughed it off and moved on but It’s still been bugging me.

My struggle with accepting the divinity of Jesus Christ is not new, I have been struggling with it for years now.

It’s hard to elegantly articulate why I struggle with it, as it is mostly a lot of related thoughts swirling in my head, so I’ll use bullet points

> Conversations with my aforementioned Jewish friend where our faiths have been brought up have occurred many times before, and they have always been respectful and polite. However, I never have the words to provide my reasoning for my faith. He often says “In Judaism, as stated by the Torah, God is indivisible and has no physical form” how do I explain my faiths side without tying myself in knots, when we also derive a lot of our theology from the same as Judaism?

>Jesus was born and raised during a time of great instability and unrest for his people. There were plenty of other Jewish end times preachers and reformists, and I am afraid he was just the lucky one.

> A human person being God feels dangerously close to the shit that past, contemporary, and more modern cult leaders have pulled. Think about how the Ancient Egyptians at certain times and dynasties treated their Pharaohs as not only conduits for the will of their gods, but gods in their own right. The Roman Empire was upset at Christians for not worshipping the emperor. In modern times, we have had people like Jaime Gomez, Shoko Asahara, Sun Myung moon, and dare I say Donald Trump. For a semi-example, Mao Zedong is often revered as an almost divine messiah figure, and stories of those with pictures of Mao having some sort of supernatural effect on people are prolific.

> God in the Old Testament gets very upset at the Israelites making a physical depiction of God. Fast forward a thousand years or so, lo and behold, God has a Physical from, and we are just fine making depictions of said physical form. Gods is eternal and his nature is eternal, so he couldn’t have changed his mind. Was God just like “hold on y’all, we’re not at that part of the story yet, no physical depictions yet, otherwise you’ll get slimed out by Moses!”???

>God being born as a human of a specific ethnic group comes with a shit ton of baggage. On one hand, being God incarnate of religion that is multicultural almost from its inception, it shouldn’t be that big of a deal to for people of different ethnicities to depict Christ as one of their own. However, when that falls into the wrong hands, so much suffering can be caused. Just look at Europe colonialism and how often depictions of a Caucasian Jesus was weaponized to equate non-European-ness to ungodliness and somehow deserving of mistreatment. On the other hand, Jesus being a person from a specific culture and ethnic background and being prophesized in the religious texts of a specific culture in a specific part of the world. If I think about that too hard, I realize the disconnect there is between my people’s traditions, folklore, and pre existing values, and what we stole from the original Christians. What is my people’s culture and what is stolen from the original believers culture? Yes I know Paul talked about this in his letters, but that’s brings me to…

> Paul lived over a hundred years after Christs death and resurrection, and I am terrified that Subverted Christs message. Not to mention Christianity making it to India and Ethiopia before it made its way to Paul according to some reports.

>Making God a human, specifically a human from a more urban landscape has opened the door for people to use that as proof that endless human expansion and the rape and exploitation of God’s beautiful wild world, is a good thing. Off the top of my head, the only references of wild nature being portrayed in a positive light beyond how it benefits humans are lions and eagles, and the tree of life, all of which is just taken from Judaism, minus all the Jewish mysticism that glorifies creation and nature as valuable in its own right,

I am sorry that I have fallen into doubt once again, brothers and sisters, I hope you can forgive me.

What if Catholicism integrated indigenous mythological beings during conversion?

DISCLAIMER: I don’t necessarily support this happening, I just think it’s a cool what if scenario. As far as I am concerned, there is only one God: The Holy Trinity. Any other being is subordinate.

So I recently watched the gameplay reveal trailer for God of War: Laufey, and one of the antagonists Faye battles in the trailer is Begtse, a Mongolian god of war. I went down a rabbit hole where I learned that, in irl history, Begtse has been absorbed into Bhuddism and is now revered by Tibetan and Mongolian Bhuddists as a Dharmapala, a fierce protector of justice and dharma.

This got me thinking: What if Catholicism did something similar?

Now of course, Catholicism shouldn’t accept other beings as gods, but in this scenario, the indigenous mythological beings would be, for lack of a better word, “demoted” and swear fealty to The One True God

More Realistically (as if this hypothetical was realistic at all) I imagine that Catholicism probably wouldn’t integrate local deities as much as buddhism, but imagine that religiously/culturally significant beings that aren’t gods could be absorbed into local churches of a certain region/culture as non human saints like the archangels. Hell, this could have resulted in there being more than 24 autonomous churches comprising the Catholic Church (as a Roman Catholic, I think it’s funny that we are the only western branch and there are 23 eastern branches.) granted, many saints patronages are often quite similar to certain gods as a means of easing conversion. For example, St Brigid’s patronage has a lot of similarities with the Irish goddess Brigid’s portfolio. Not to mention The Blessed Mary being compared to many goddesses of life, death, fertility, and motherhood across multiple cultures that are now predominantly Catholic.

If nothing else, wouldn’t it be sorta cool if different cultures that are now predominantly Catholic did this?

Like imagine if Catholics of Greek and southern Italian descent asked St. Medusa to pray for them, inspired by tales of her posthumous conversion when Christ descended into hades, and how she embraced him and was accepted as a daughter of God despite her previous monstrous form . Amongst these Catholics, she’s seen as a faithful servant of Christ who wards off evil by the grace of God.

Catholics of Nordic descent might ask Saint Sköll and Saint Hati to pray on their behalf, seeing them as redeemed heralds of new days to do right by God and restful nights respectively.

Nature spirits are almost universal across cultures, so I don’t think it’d be too big of a stretch for some of great importance to be seen as angels or saints by the peoples who believe in them.

What do you all think?

God Bless.
