Why do I become so awkward when walking in public?

Does anyone else suddenly forget how to walk the second they step into public? 😭

I'll be walking completely fine, then I notice people around me and suddenly I'm overthinking every single step. I start wondering if I look weird, where I'm supposed to look, what my hands are doing...and I end up walking even weirder. Sometimes I even accidentally bump into the people I'm walking with because I'm so focused on trying to walk "normally."🥲

Children Aren't Responsible for Their Parents' Dreams

I don't understand why some parents choose to have children and then blame them for existing. My mom is the best example. She often tells me I'm the reason she can't get a job, the reason she didn't have a better life, and the reason she had to give up her dreams. She says, "I'm stuck looking after this creature"

I don't know why, but hearing things like that always makes me really sad. Children don't choose to be born parents make that decision. Blaming your child for the consequences of that choice is unfair. I wish more parents realized that words like these can stay with a child for years and make them feel guilty for simply existing.

Teenage years feel so empty sometimes

Guys is anyone else here an only child with no cousins? 😭

Idk... I'm in my teenage years, and sometimes it just feels so empty. Every time I see people hanging out with their cousins or talking about sibling chaos, I feel like I'm missing out on something I'll never get to experience.

People always say "You'll find your people later," But teenage memories just hit different yk? Growing up with people your age, making dumb memories together... I don't think you can really recreate that later

Is It Better to Wait or Fit In?

Uhm, I don't have any friends in my class. Should I wait until I find my kind of people, or just try to vibe with people who aren't really my vibe?

Today I Taught My English Teacher a New Word (Maybe?)😭

Soooo I'm studying at a management school, and honestly, the education there isn't that great. It feels like some teachers are just collecting their salary every month without really knowing what they're teaching.

Recently my English teacher asked us to write a self-introduction. Since I love movies and watch a lot of em I wrote "I'm a huge cinephile."

When she read it she stopped and asked "What's the meaning of cinephile?" I explained that it means someone who loves movies. Then she asked "Is this American English?" Even though it's actually a standard English word I just said "Yeah" because I was too lazy to explain anything.

I was honestly surprised she didn't know that word. Isn't cinephile a pretty common English word? Do most English teachers know it, or was she just unfamiliar with it? Lol

Need Some Advice About My Mood Swings

Hey guys, yk most girls get really bad mood swings when they're on their period or when it's about to start. I never used to have mood swings this bad, but lately I feel like I'm completely out of control. 😭

I've been getting really irritated and angry, and I end up saying so many things to my family that I know I shouldn't say. Afterwards I feel really guilty, but in that moment I just can't seem to control myself. It's been causing a lot of problems at home.

Even the smallest family arguments are getting on my nerves lately. I don't have anyone at home who truly understands me, and they're all blaming me or thinking there's something seriously wrong with me.

I can't really talk to my parents about this because of the age gap I don't think they'd understand how I'm feeling. But if I keep everything bottled up, I end up feeling even worse.

Should I get it checked at a hospital, or is this something normal? Has anyone else gone through something like this? What do you guys do when your mood swings get this bad? Any advice would really help.

For the Girl Who Never Fit the Mold

Growing up, I always believed boys liked a certain kind of girl.

The kind who wore kurtas,

spoke with soft voices,

carried gentle smiles,

and seemed innocent in every way.

The kind of girl mothers pointed at and said,

"Be like her."

And then there was me.

The girl with short hair,

strange interests,

a loud laugh,

and a heart that never fit neatly into the box people built for girls.

When I was little, I didn't think much about it.

I climbed,

ran,

got dirty,

spoke my mind,

and existed without fear.

But as I grew older,

the space around me seemed to shrink.

Suddenly, there were rules.

"Girls don't sit like that."

"Girls don't walk like that."

"Girls don't talk like that."

The words appeared everywhere,

slipping into conversations,

hiding in advice,

disguising themselves as care.

Every family gathering,

every casual conversation,

every small mistake

seemed to become another lesson

on how to be a "proper girl."

The obedient girls were praised.

The quiet girls were admired.

The girls who never questioned anything

were called good.

And sometimes I wondered

if I stayed exactly as I am,

would anyone ever choose me?

Would anyone love a girl

who wasn't soft enough,

quiet enough,

or traditional enough?

I used to think love was a prize

for being quiet,

soft,

and small.

So I hid my loud opinions,

my short hair,

and my stubborn heart,

terrified of being too difficult to love.

But I was wrong.

Love isn't a reward for fitting in.

The right people won't wish I were different

they will see every hidden piece of me,

and they will stay.

Maybe they'll love the girl

who refused to shrink herself

just to make others comfortable.

Maybe I'll finally see

a girl who was always enough.

A girl who never fit the mold

and was never meant to.

There Is a Girl in My Class, and Then There Is Me

There is a girl in my class,

and then there is me.

She answers questions before I even understand them,

walks into every room like she belongs there,

and somehow leaves with everyone's laughter

caught in her hands.

She gets the marks I dream about,

the confidence I wish I could borrow,

the friendships that seem to find her

without her ever having to look.

And then there is me

trying,

always trying,

but never feeling like it is enough.

I look at her and wonder

what it feels like

to be someone's first choice,

to be noticed,

to be remembered.

She is beautiful without trying.

She talks without fear.

She exists so effortlessly.

Meanwhile,

I rehearse conversations in my head,

stay quiet when I want to speak,

and disappear into the background

until even I can barely find myself.

One day she said,

"If you're in class or not,

it feels the same."

Maybe it was a joke.

Maybe she forgot about it the next minute.

But I didn't.

Because those words confirmed

what I had always feared

that I am so quiet,

so small,

that my absence carries

the same weight as my presence.

And sometimes I hate myself for comparing.

Because she has done nothing wrong.

She is not the reason I feel this way.

The real sadness is realizing

that every wonderful thing I see in her

is something I wish I could see in myself.

So I sit there,

watching her shine,

while wondering

if there will ever come a day

when I stop looking at her

and finally learn

how to look at myself

with the same kindness.
