Hello! Has anyone experienced their dill being COVERED in aphids?
The only reason I grow dill is because pollinators like it, and I was specifically educated - by farmers - that wasps like it, and wasps parasitize aphids.
At this point in the season, it doesn’t even feel worthwhile to address the aphids…
I’m just surprised and wondering if others have experienced this.
What makes it more unfortunate is dill has taken over like 33% of one of my gardens.

These days, I use “17 free nail polish” on my toes; it’s the kind that is lacking 17 common toxins found in standard nail polish.
And…I think I left it on for about 2 months. 😬 Last year I got a professional pedicure and left it on for maybe 6 months. 🫣
To no one’s surprise, my nails don’t look great, and have a yellow hue after both removals. I’ve heard the yellowing comes from lack of oxygen to the nail, which would make sense given how long I’ve left it on. I’ve also seen, on Reddit, that nitrocellulose is the ingredient in nail polish that causes the yellowing.
So question: does anyone have any habits/practices they use to prevent this yellowing?
OR can someone who does NOT deal with yellowing tell me what habits are with their toenails?
(For example, I wonder if leaving it on for only 1-2 weeks, taking it off, and leaving it off for a few days before putting a new polish on would be a healthy and helpful practice.)
I’m not really looking to buy a product for this issue (but feel free to share that if you’d really like), I’m moreso looking to change my habits.

I just google searched pure aloe vera gel and got results that included iHerb and HoneyBeeGardens. Now, I have no familiarity with HoneyBeeGardens, but iHerb is huge, and HoneyBeeGardens appears much smaller.
I'd love to prioritize small business and small sellers. Bonus points if they have some farm or garden affiliation, and if they're local to you!

You wouldn’t know, but there are 10 iris bulbs buried in this half circle where the sunflowers are (between the black plastic pots and the dahlias).
Question: If I cover the half circle with cardboard from late fall until late winter, would you expect it to have a negative impact on the irises shooting up next spring?
My goal is to kill off the grass and weeds in this space without much manual labor, and I’m not sure if that’s realistic.

I just don't know what's typical and would like to hear what you've done, or what's been done for you. There are no showers, and these couples aren't "in need," per se, so this is really about the relational piece of sharing in a couple's joy.
Alright, folks, do you have strategies and systems for organizing your clothing in your bedroom, specifically clothing you've worn that can be worn again before washing?
Here's the deets:
-I have a closet
-I have a dresser with 5 drawers
-I have a wooden chest
-I have 1 dirty laundry hamper
-I have two baskets for clothes I've already worn
-I have drying rack
-I have clothing storage bins under my bed.
And yet...I consistently wind up with piles of half-worn clothing on top of my wooden chest, which I don't want.
I don't lack places to put clothes. I lack systems to follow that would keep my bedroom tidier.
If you successfully keep your clothing where you want it: what systems do you follow to accompish that?
Or if you struggle with this, feel free to commiserate.
Ps: might I have too much clothing? Perhaps. I've been working on that too. I keep clothing for 8, 10, 15 years.
Hi, I just ordered & received the following flower seeds, and have a question. I have no qualms about planting zinnias now, as I’ve seen it work for other people and they seem resilient, but according to the packages, now is definitely now the time for these poppies and alyssum.
Despite that, I’m still curious to try planting them (at least some seeds) and see what happens.
Has anyone tried planting poppies or alyssum at this time of year (late July/early August)? If so, what was your experience?

And then there’s Bill Gray’s and Tom Wahl’s, which have ice cream, but aren’t “ice cream shops,” per se.

Hi! I’ve purchased 4 pairs of Whitin sneakers previously, but now I’m having issues with my current order and wondering anyone else has experienced something similar.
I ordered my 5th pair (white with white sole) on June 19, from Amazon. They haven’t arrived and the status on Amazon now says “delivery date currently unavailable.” The last update was that they “left the shipper facility” on 6/22.
On top of that, I emailed “contact@whitin-shoes.com and got a “failure to deliver” notice.
Has anyone else successfully ordered and received Whitin’s since June 19th?
Has anyone else had similar issues with Whitin, no matter the time period?
Hi! I don't have a good sense of how much water dahlias need to thrive, I just hear they're very thirsty. If yours historically thrive, can you please give me a quantative measurement of how much water you give them when you water them?
Example:
-X numbers of minutes with a soaker house
-X number of minutes with a regular hand held hose
-X number of ounces per plant
I understand we're all in different zones and experience different weather conditions, so go ahead and tell me your zone (I'm in 6b), but ultimately I'm just looking for enough feedback to feel confident in creating or adjusting my watering schedule. Thanks!
This is my 4th season of vegetable and herb gardening, plus I’ve gotten a little into flowers. I’m still learning and testing the limits of how close I can plant vegetables and herbs, and so I’m wondering:
Can folks make suggestions of what to plant - especially flowers - in the blank dirt spaces that exist in my vegetable/herb garden?
I essentially want something that would act as a little carpet, preventing the weeds from making a home in those empty areas.
I’m hoping for something that won’t grow too tall and won’t crowd out my veggies/herbs. My neighbor recommends Sweet Alyssum. I was wondering about thyme, but I grow that and haven’t experienced it becoming a “carpet” the way I’m envisioning.
I’m pretty well versed in companion planting, so just throw me your suggestions and I’ll figure out if it works with what I have.

This is 15 gallons and I call it my “patio pond.” It’s my first time making anything like this, and I was so excited, but it’s getting dirty faster than I anticipated.
It’s filled with big landscaping rocks, some smoother rocks from Home Depot, 6 plants from an aquatic shop, and a solar fountain bubbler.
I cleaned it 2.5 weeks after setting it up, and 9 days later (today) it needs another cleaning because of algae.
I ordered “The Pond Guy InstaFix Algae Control,” and it’s on its way.
Here’s my question: I put the plants in there because I thought they’d somehow keep it fresher/cleaner. Was that a misconception? And is there something else I should be doing to manage this well, aside from cleaning more frequently?
(Fish are not a good option for me.)

New dahlia grower here! 🙋🏻♀️ I planted four clumps of tubers in the front yard on Saturday, and some critter has dug them all up. 😢 Squirrels, skunks, and deer frequent the front yard, woodchucks are in the back, and possums are sometimes around.
I don’t know who the culprit is, nor the best way to protect tubers. Are there any well known tactics?
I could erect chicken wire, but that wouldn’t keep squirrels (the likely culprits) out unless I covered the top too...
I'm in zone 6b and planted iris bulbs yesterday, May 2nd! Has anyone ever planted them this late, and if so, what was the outcome? I'm eyeing my neighbor's irises that are already 1 foot tall, and wondering what to expect from mine.
(I know they're best planted in the fall.)
