Went no contact with my “mother” last year. Moved countries to get away from her. My only living sibling also went no contact and is planning to move across the world to get away from her.

Her actions caused nearly all family to disown her and therefor me and my brother. Our dads want nothing to do with us because of her.

while I don’t regret moving, overall my quality of life has massively improved.

I do feel sad I don’t have any support from family, feel very isolating sometimes and occasionally I think maybe it’s worth trying to have a relationship (i can’t, she literally makes me suicidal and destabilises my life over anything she deems not okay)

How do people cope with that emptiness?
I have made some friends, try to be active and somewhat social. But feel I’m very stunted in that regard from everything that happened in my childhood.

I have contact with my brother (haven’t seen him in nearly a year tho) and an aunty. But the rest of the family on both my mother and father’s side want nothing to do with me because of her and not wanting any drama from her. Which is understandable.
I know it’s relatively new, and moving counties and leaving behind all my support was a huge change.

So left in December of 2025 paid all bills up to that point . Was hit with a 4k debt.
I argued and argued I didn’t owe it because I was right.
Only reason I proved that was because they fucked up and told me the new tenants name and his bill (also massively wrong!!) the bills where for the previous owner!!! He apparently never paid.

then all sorted and stupidly didn’t ask for it in writing I owe nothing.

In August I am hit with a final bill and being harassed multiple times a day for £112.

I again made complaints. Was told no you owe it. I pointed out I proved they had at least 3 peoples bills wrong from that property. Again told I owe it.

So demanded a deadlock, lo and behold after I dropped in I am actively looking to get a group together to sue for similar issues. It WAS British gases fault AGAIN. I had infact paid my final bill.

okay can I have written proof this time.

Chased them multiple times! Then THEN to be told actually it was a misunderstanding and I owed them money.

Only by that point I had a email saying they made a mistake, I also had requested the audio recordings.

Got rang up today by debt collectors with an open complaint ?!

Read them the email. Got passed around every department until I landed in some legal department. They AGAIN admitted fault. Fixed it and sent written proof I owe no money to British Gas for that address in my name.

Not even 5 minutes later I get another email saying a new final bill for £600 odd 😂

I honestly don’t understand how they even function? Like how? Absolutely worst company I have had the displeasure of interacting with. Would rather hammer nails into my hands than deal with them.

They just throw some numbers together and send it and bully you to pay. Absolutely disgusting how many people have had their lives ruined over debts that where never there’s

Anyone want to sue British Gas with me?

British Gas are putting it politely screwing me over. But I am only 1 person. They admitted they were at fault and are now trying to blame me again.

As only one person I can’t change anything, but I know I’m not the only one. Is anyone else interested in creating a multi person case and taking legal action?

Specifically them claiming you owe a debt that’s not yours.

If I can get enough interest, I would then start finding firms who specialise in this.

I am also interested in potentially taking this to journalists, and or anyone with a bigger voice than me.

I just learned I don’t have a space on a course for welding, its to late to now to find another course in a different college and move. 🙃
So I’m in a position now where I really want to move on with my life. But I’m sort of stuck on no companys seem to take people without a pre apprenticeship course.

I guess what I’m asking is, any advice on getting an apprenticeship. Or maybe other opportunities that would lead to me having a job in a trade. I’m leaning more towards welding or plumbing. But honestly anything hands on is a possibility!

I did a multi skill course a few years back and really liked it but unfortunately I didn’t take it further. Hind sight I absolutely should have. But such is life sometimes.

But I don’t want to put my life on hold for another year!

I’m not overly tied to where I am. willing to move for the right opportunity.

I have looked into the military but I have a cat and he’s basically my only family and I really don’t want to give him up.

But any advice would be hugely appreciated!!

I’m looking for places to walk my cat, preferably without dogs or dogs on leads.

Since we moved up here I have struggled to find places, we used to walk around this big playing field that didn’t allow dogs so was perfect. But struggled to find that now. He’s fine with them if they are on leads. But I can’t always spot them before they spot us and grab him 🤣

Can be mildly built up, but no crazy busy roads, he really enjoys walking in forests and occasionally the beach!

I don’t have safe outside access for him anymore and the last time he got out someone legit tried to steal him 🙃 so it’s this or nothing.

Hey, I recently (end of last year) moved to Aberdeen from southern England. I’m 27 female, enjoy most things! Always willing to try new things, get a coffee or even just have a walk.

I drive, own a cat that’s pretty cool if anyone likes walking cats instead of dogs 😂 pretty shy at first but once I’m comfortable the full ADHD experience is to be had.
Into learning new stuff, basically anything animal related, cooking/eating food. bonus if someone can tell me where is a good for live music and or cocktails ☺️

Waiting for a start date for school, but want to meet new people and explore this cool place in the meantime!
