I'm going to run Engage Maddening with DLC. What are some broken strats?

I'm coming back to Engage after Fortune's Weave to run Maddening. I have the DLC. What are some good early tips and strats to aim for?

I'm planning to invest in Alear, Anna, and Chloe until I hit the mid game and start getting all the good units. I might keep Lapis and Diamant. Any tips for how to build good characters?

Any meta knowledge? I know you've got to get dogs early and get all your inherited skills before the mid game takes your emblems away

Why does Chipp shout "Alpha Brain" the whole time? (And how do you beat him)

Is Chipp a shill for phony supplements?

Also: please give me some tips for how to beat him. I keep falling for his side switch bs. And the moves that always get me are his jumping spin and the vertical spinning dive kick into low kick combo

Any tips for a player struggling at Platinum 1?

I've been playing for just over a month. I flew through the early ranks Bronze, Iron, and even Gold and now I'm hardstuck on Platinum. I've got three characters up to Plat 1 (Elphelt, Ky, Slayer) but I keep getting demoted, then promoted and so on

On the Defense side I find Plat 1 players frametrap me to death and I struggle to break through pressure loops (esp. against Leo, Jack O, Sol). On Offence, I'm finding my own offence is too obvious. I can get people in the corner and put them in loops but I struggle to break through or close out rounds

Any general tips for improving in Plat? Is the jump from Gold to Plat really that big? When I get demoted to Gold 3, I curbstomp people and climb back up

Why are people crashing out? This game isn't that hard

Based on the online discourse, Yacht Club put out the next Blood Souls 2: Scholar of the First Ring. But after playing it myself for a while I am really not getting what it so difficult

Yes, the early game is pretty challenging but once you explore a bit, find some upgrades and trinkets, level up a bit, and buy some goodies... the difficulty drops way off? For the first boss at the Crypt I had to learn some patterns but for the later ones I've just been mashing while I guzzle potions and that's taken me all the way to endgame. You don't even need easy modifiers, just explore!

The platforming is a little challenging but this is nowhere near Celeste or even a certain other game developed by Yacht Club which I believe was called Knight of Shovels.

EDIT: yes I agree the game is hard at the start, but then it gets easier as you explore and get upgrades. The difficulty curve for this game is inverted. Maybe a bad design decision by the devs

Unpopular Take: playing GG Strive has made me aware of how toxic the online Tekken player base is

I've been playing GG Strive online Ranked for about a month now, climbing the ranks (can't claim to be good) and its been way more fun than Tekken ranked. I've got some thoughts why.

Quitters: when I played Tekken online Ranked in Season 1, I faced so many quitters on Ranked I straight up quit the game. I came back when they started showing disconnect percentage, but even then I faced so many people who would disconnect when they're down on the last round. In one month of Strive, I've had one person quit on me (red health, last round, pretty obvious)

Etiquette: I don't know what it is, but in Tekken I faced so many people who would spam a flowchart, ki-charge on win, and then fail to rematch the moment you figured out their bs. Willing rematch was the exception. In Strive, people rematch 99% of the time, even if you own them. I've played way more long sets where either I've figured out my opponent, or they figured me out and turned the game around

Heat 50/50s: I used to get so tilted playing Tekken 8 because I felt I had no real defensive options against 50/50 bs other than to guess (and lose 60% HP on a guess). Later seasons toned this down, but its still no fun to be on the receiving end of canned offence / stance pressure. While Strive has even more ridiculous pressure loops, the game actually gives you strong defensive options. Psych Burst, Yellow Roman Cancel, Faultless Defense, and 6P are universally strong defensive options that can get you out of most offence. Some characters have invincible reversals and then there's a mind game to bait these out and punish

Anyway, I'm having fun. Came here to get flamed and downvoted and say that there is hope out there
