How to care for my mini rose

Hi everyone,

I was recently given this mini rose. It had a small info card that mentioned to put it in a west or south facing window, and water when top few inches of soil are wet.

I let the soil dry and watered it as I do my other indoor plants. I have it on a west facing window sill.

I’m really not familiar with rose bushes at all - is it just a matter of trimming off these few brown flowers? I’m looking for both general care advice and how to give it some life.
They looked fine when I first got the plant about 1 week ago.

Thank you!

Seed organization recommendations?

Hi everyone, this is my first year where I’m starting to save seeds, so I’m looking for some storage recommendations!

I’d like to do something similar to a tin in the image attached. It doesn’t need to say “Seeds” or anything like that. I’m planning on doing small envelopes inside the tin

Does anyone have any leads on which stores I may find similar tins. I’m nearby a dollarama, dollar store, Canadian tire, home hardware, etc.

I’d prefer to not buy off Amazon if possible!

Thank you! :)

My tomatoes refuse to ripen

Hey everyone,
I’m in Zone 5b, and I seem to be having issues with my tomatoes ripening. I’ve looked back on photos and realized last summer I had picked tomatoes by mid-July.

My plant has been fruiting fine, but even full size tomatoes that have been on the vine for probably 4+ weeks are not ripening at all.

It’s happening for both my cherry tomatoes and my larger tomatoes. Any idea? We’ve been getting a lot of rain so not sure if that’s related, but curious as to how everyone else in Zone 5b is doing right now!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Which line to add milk to for an iced latte?

Hi everyone, I was hoping some employees could help me in terms of instructions of making the iced lattes. I know it’s syrup and espresso, whip, then milk and ice. Which kind on the cup do you fill the milk?

Also - is a large iced latte 2 or 3 espresso shots?

Thank you so much!

I can’t seem to keep English ivy alive

Hi everyone, looking for some advice on my English ivy!

I just recently repotted it into a larger pot, but now the leaves both near the root and at the tips are starting to brown.

It was dry when I repotted, and I watered it in to the point of damp. It sits on an upper shelf, so it gets sunlight but not direct. I’m using potting mix.

Any way to recover from this? Thank you!!

Please help me replicate the Tim’s Brown Sugar Iced Latte

I have a Nespresso Vertuo and I’m trying to replicate the Brown Sugar Iced Latte from Tim Hortons.

I normally only buy the Starbucks Blonde espresso pods, but I’m starting to not enjoy these. I’m essentially trying to use this summer to perfect my at-home iced latte in time for the winter haha, and looking to closely match Tim’s iced latte.

I know Tim’s does syrup and espresso, whips it, and adds 2% milk. I know the regular nespresso line has Tim Hortons pods, but I think with the vertuo I’m going to be limited to nespresso brand.

If anyone has any insight on which nespresso pod will be the closest match, please let me know! Also looking for recommendations on the syrup, or if I should use real brown sugar.

Also, in Canada if that makes a difference, thanks y’all :)

Rain Forecast This Weekend

Hi everyone, I’m looking to get some opinions on what camping might look like this weekend. We’re planning to camp at Pog lake Friday-Sunday, but I have some family that’s a bit concerned about the rain forecast.

Admittedly, I’ve never really looked at precipitation amounts before, so struggling to gauge really how much rain to expect.

We plan to camp in a tent, with the worry being that we’re going to end up soaking wet. Additionally, we’ll be rolling in around 6pm Friday, so worried that we’ll be trying to set up on mud.

We also don’t have a propane stove, as we’ve previously cooked all meals on the campfire. Initial plan for Saturday was canoeing and fishing.

Family is essentially wanting to cancel, so any insight is greatly appreciated!!

Disappointed to see the 4c portion of Shell / Scene+ Discount is temporary!

I'm not sure if it's just me that didn't see this listed anywhere in the promotional material, but it looks like the 4 cents per litre discount on Premium Fuel is only applicable during the Promotional Period (until June 1 2027).

A bit disappointed as I was most excited for this part of the discount!

Brake pad wear sensor?

Hi everyone, I’m currently doing rotors and pads on my mk6 GTI. The previous owner had cut the brake wear sensor on the harness side, and just spliced it into the old pads.

I’m going to need a new ABS harness, but it looks like they’re $100+ USD lol. That and Id like to get it asap as I now have an unconnected connector just chilling.

There seem to be 2 front left ABS harness options - for with and without the brake wear sensor. Based on the fitment notes in FCP Euro, it seems like mk5/mk6 golfs and equivalent year jettas use the same part, but they’re listed in both the with and without wear sensor list.

Does anyone know what the criteria is for these years golfs/jettas to have the brake wear sensor? I’m hoping to check the junkyard to find the harness, but not sure if it needs to be a specific trim! Thanks!

Hot spot on driver side of center console

Hi everyone! I’m looking for some guidance in diagnosing a new issue I found yesterday in my Mk6.

It was about 25-30 deg Celsius (77-86 F) yesterday, and started down-pouring rain. I had my air set to cool (18 deg C) with AC off but I still found the car to be really hot. I picked up a passenger and it seemed to be just me experiencing this, almost as if my floor vents were blowing hot, even though my vents were set to front/windshield.

I then realized the plastic (highlighted in the picture) on my side of the center console was really hot, almost to the point where it hurt to touch.

I know the heater core is right here, I just had it replaced in January. The plastic was getting so hot it started feeling tacky.

It only recently has become hot here again (Canada) so I’m not sure if this is a brand new issue or if I’m just discovering it.

Side note in case it relates - I have an AC refrigerant leak that I haven’t yet fixed, so my cool air currently is just cool air, not AC cold. This is initially why I thought I was still warm, since I have no AC haha. The air from the vents was blowing cool. No issues with air flow!

If anyone has any thoughts please let me know!

I’m due for brake pads and rotors on my Mk6 (all around) and was looking for recommendations regarding brands! Just regular (sometimes spirited) street driving, and sometimes the car sits for a week so minimal rusting would be ideal.

Also looking for recommendations on where I should look at buying them in Canada. I normally do rockauto, but shipping is too high for something heavy like brake rotors.

Thank you :)
