Did anyone else have a glow-in-the-dark rotary phone plate? No one else I knew did and as a teen it was embarrassing

Of course, now I think it was super cool!

Our phone was in the kitchen on a small shelf held by L-brackets in the corner. Standard length receiver cord. If I wanted to sit I would have my ear lined up but the part I spoke to would be above my head. I think my mom didn’t have long calls and she didn’t see the need for longer (and didn’t want to pay for it).

At least when the power went out we could still call and check on my grandma with easy dialling!

ETA- to help repeat questions… Single mom didn’t replace things until they broke. I’m a younger GenX. The black phone itself wasn’t terribly out of place but lots of families had bright colours or even button phones (so fancy). To me if felt like a grandma Kleenex box cosy or excessive doilies under plastic furniture covers. It was a plastic cheap thing. When friends called parents for pick ups and said “why is your phone so weird” it hurt.

I’m an adult who doesn’t care about out of place weird things or individuality. But it was an awkward kid felt different situation. I’m sure people can relate

Local hero helps doggo with zoomies

[passenger photo] We enjoyed seeing this backpack pooch downtown! From way back down the street, the doggo has a sleek tight body and a puff ball head. We just loved the arms on the rider’s shoulders 💗 If you are the rider, we were not giggling at you, you just made us very happy!
