Great start to the day
QE2, Guy tried to pressure the guy in front of him by driving on the shoulder, hits debris and some sort of chunk of metal or sign flies into my windshield. Muted for the sake of your ears. Whole windshield is broke
Best Browser for me?
Currently running Opera GX as I have for the past 4+ years but really want to switch for a few main reasons:
- Privacy concerns relating to Opera
- Media are a bit jittery, especially youtube. (can never get it to play smoothly, despite clearing cache and other tricks involving opera)
I was looking at swapping browsers, I don't usually have many tabs open at the same time so just need a good browser that:
- Has good privacy history
- Good media playback speed / smooth
- Bookmarks
- Integrated Password manager
- Don't need fancy features or other bloated things that sacrafice speed
The main ones I have been looking at from other posts have been Vivaldi, Firefox, Helium. Any suggestions or recs?
What CPU to upgrade to
My current rig is a:
- CPU: AMD Ryzen 3900X
-GPU: 3080
-Memory: 32GB DDR4 running at 2133 MT/s
SSD storage is about 3gb through 4 different SSD's that I just added as i needed space.
What CPU should i upgrade to if I chose to, or should I upgrade other parts as well?

Subaru Scheduled Maintenance “C”
My vehicle is approaching 60k kms and according to the maintenance schedule, needs a “C” service. I usually do my own Oil Changes and my brakes haven’t needed any servicing yet. As the “C” maintenance is a longer list, I thought I’d get a quote to see how much it would cost. My jaw almost hit the floor when I found out it would be 1,600$ CAD!
This seems insane as most of these items are very quick checks that the dealership probably won’t even really do and just check the box off as it’s a new vehicle. A bunch of them aren’t even really needed in my opinion at 60k, brake fluid replacement, fuel injector service, etc.
The only things that I see that are “needed” is the oil change, checking the brake pads, check the belt tension, cabin/engine air filter potentially and an alignment for myself. All of which can be done very easily at home besides the alignment.
Am I missing something that really makes this essential for 1600$?
Most likely UFA additions in the coming days
On Oilers NOW with Bob Stauffer, Stan Bowman mentioned that the oilers are looking to add on the front end and are in talks with some forwards. He also mentioned if the talks fizzle out, he’s comfortable with our current team and keeping the cap space for a later day. At this time I see 3 players as the most likely the Oilers are going to try to go after.
1. Claude Giroux
Claude Giroux is coming off a full 82 game season with the Ottawa Senators recording 49 points, 19:17 TOI and a staggering 63.1% FOW on their third line all for $2M.
Having the centre position stack of McDavid, Draisaitl, Dickinson and Giroux would make the Oilers one of the deepest teams down the middle. With Babcock wanting a more structured game and giving lines a purpose, Giroux would be a great veteran player as 3/4C at a cheaper price to keep cap room free later down the road.
2. Vladimir Tarasenko
Tarasenko recorded 47 points in 75 games last year mostly on the third line of the dangerous Minnesota wild. Possessing a dangerous shot, he could slot in well in many line combination.
Expected cap hit of 3-3.5m, he may be willing to sign a short term deal to try to chase another cup. Oilers have prioritized filling wing spots with offensive upside around our star players, so this could be an interesting option. Biggest concern is if his game slows and proves to be another Skinner/Arvidsson/Mangiapane situation.
3. Eeli Tolvanen
Tolvanen has been a consistent player for the Kraken throughout his few years there. Proving to be a reliable middle 6 winger generating just under 0.5 ppg. Tolvanen is a well rounded player with a good shot, and can slot into a PP2 role if needed. He is one of the younger players remaining in the UFA market with some room to potential grow a bit more playing under a structure Babcock regime.
