My Side of a Recent Rehome Situation — Clarification
I wanted to share my side of a recent rehome situation because the buyer has now made multiple public posts about the transaction and has continued asking me to issue a refund despite my having already explained my position.
I’m including screenshots of our conversation below so that people can see the actual exchange and make their own judgment rather than relying solely on either side’s account.
I’ve been rehoming bags for quite some time, and I have a feedback section on my profile where previous buyers can see my successful rehomes and their experiences with me. I’ve always tried to be transparent with my transactions and, whenever possible, I go above and beyond to provide additional proof, photos, close-ups, videos, or any other information a buyer requests before they decide to purchase.
For this particular transaction, my seller provided me with the information that the bag came from 187 Factory, and that is what I disclosed to the buyer. When the buyer later questioned the factory attribution, I immediately went back to my seller to verify it. My seller has remained steadfast in confirming that the bag came from 187 Factory.
The bag shown in the photos was also the exact bag that was shipped to the buyer. There was no substitution or bait-and-switch.
Before purchasing, the buyer specifically asked me about the glazing. I gave my honest opinion based on what I could see and provided additional photos for them to review. I did not claim to be an authenticator or that I could independently verify a factory’s internal sourcing records. I provided the information available to me and answered the questions I was asked in good faith.
The buyer also requested a discount before finalizing the transaction, which I accommodated. I mention this only because I want the full context of our interaction to be available. I was not unwilling to communicate or accommodate reasonable requests before the transaction was completed.
The concern later became the factory attribution. I understand that the buyer is unhappy and believes the bag does not match what they expected. However, I also relied on the information provided to me by my seller, and my seller continues to stand by that information.
I was asked to accept a return and issue a refund. I have explained that I cannot do so because my rehomes are final. This is not a policy I created after this issue arose. If an item arrived damaged or there was an undisclosed condition issue, I would absolutely be willing to address that. This situation is specifically about the factory attribution that I disclosed based on information provided to me and which my seller continues to stand by.
I also want to address the comments from people who have never had a transaction with me. I have had people call me out or disagree with me before, and I have always taken those interactions graciously. In fact, in a separate previous transaction, I proactively refunded a buyer without them even asking because I was unable to ship their item to the US at the time. The issue was on my end, so I took responsibility and refunded them.
That is very different from the current situation. I am not someone who refuses to take responsibility when an issue genuinely falls on me. I simply do not agree that I should accept a return and refund in this particular circumstance.
My feedback section contains my history of successful rehomes and buyer feedback, and I encourage anyone who wants to assess how I conduct my transactions to look at those rather than relying solely on assumptions made in a single public post.
I also want to make it clear that I did not initiate the public discussion about this transaction. I was open to discussing this privately with the buyer and addressing her concerns directly. She chose to make the situation public, and I am only responding now because I believe it is fair for my side to be documented as well.
Since then, the situation has unfortunately continued. After publicly posting about me and making statements that I believe malign my name and reputation, the buyer has created another account and continues to contact me and demand a refund.
At this point, I feel that the continued demands for a refund, together with repeated public posts and attempts to pressure me after I have already clearly explained my position, cross the line into blackmail and intimidation. I was open to resolving this privately, but I only stopped engaging and blocked her after she made the transaction public.
I am not refusing to address a legitimate issue. I am refusing to be pressured into a refund through continued public posts and pressure after I have already provided my response.
I have responded to the buyer directly, contacted my seller to verify the concern, provided the information and photos available to me, and explained my position. I will not be continuing a public back-and-forth beyond this clarification and the relevant screenshots.
