Mic stand help needed

UPDATE: fixed it! Since people have been looking at it I’ll leave it up and put the solution in the first comment

(Yeah, I know, it’s a bit basic but hear me out…)

So I’ve got a very nice mic stand wirh 3 telescopic sections and then the nic holder mount.

The lock nut came off the top section and it’s slid all the way inside the next lower section and is refusing to budge. (See pic)

We’ve had a go at pulling it out using needle nose pliers and it isn’t moving, _and_ it’s ruining the thread.

I’ve tried using gravity (aka upside down) and gravity + force (aka upside down and banging it) but nothing doing.

Anyone seen this before, and got advice?

Many thanks…

Scottish pro-Palestine activist arrested 'for reading poem threateningly'

Seems a mite excessive for reading a poem.

(Ofc he was “arrested” then “dearrested” for standing up to the polis, not for the poem…)

Dexcom one plus?

Anybody here come from the Freestyle Libre 2+ to the dexcom one plus? I e seen a deal where I can get 3 of the 10 day sensors for £15 cheaper than a couple of FSL 2+ sensors.

Is it worth trying? What issues or improvements did you find?

(UK based, if it makes any difference)

Cara 2012?-2019-2026

(Rescue cat so no idea how old she really was)

Today we sent our beloved Cara on to the next part of her journey. She was ready to go, her kidney disease and old age had taken their toll. Our vets had done as much as they could and helped her cross with dignity.

We are sad, of course, but we are glad that we got to be her (not very good) staff, and to spend the time we had together. Even the late night, pouring rain, mouse hunting, victory nights.

We have lots of memories, and the destroyed furniture, to keep her memory alive and here are a few of her best photos and poses.

Small success - HbA1c is 50 (6.7%)

And the diabetic nurse is quite happy with that for a M60, even though I’m up from 47 last year.

Everything else is staying within normal ranges so here’s to another 12 months reasonably Trimble free diabetes.

Does anyone else use Zukka/xdrip instead of the official app?

I’ve been using Zukka for about a year now (and Shugga for a year before that) to get the Apple Watch complication showing my BG readings.

It’s a bit of a faff to get the Bluetooth access sorted every time I change a sensor, but I wouldnt go back to (just) the official app.

Things I like:
- looking at my watch to get my latest reading (well… mostly)
- configurable and snoozeable alarms for various events
- hba1c estimate from the totality of readings over 1/7/30/90 days
- “Time in target” reading

Things I don’t like:
- fiddly trying to start a new sensor with the Bluetooth permissions (at least the way I do it)
- occasional disconnections and loss of signal

Anybody else here use Zukka or another app?

Cara 14 ish? - she’s not done yet.

(Rescue cat, so no accurate age.)

Her kidneys are shot, and she’s lost a lot of weight over the last 2 weeks. She’ll only eat Felix Cat Soup now, and the mirtazipine doesn’t last as long as we’d like…

We thought it was her time yesterday but the vet said she was doing ok - in context.

Not sure how long we still have with her, but we’re enjoying every day.

IEMS for people with weird ears canals?

Evening everyone, and this is not the worst thing I’ve admitted on the internet.

My ear canals are squished so they’re more oval than circular. It’s a jaw thing, and it can’t be undone.

My Shure SE215s with some aftermarket/reasonably thin memory foam ear sleeves do the job ok, but it’s always a struggle trying to keep them sealed during a gig and I end up with no bass response (awkward since I’m the bassist) and a lot of stage wash.

I’m going to try again to use the custom moulded earplug material to get a better and more comfortable fit, but it’s never a guaranteed success with these ‘ere canals. (Geddit?!?!?)

Also I’d like to get some multiple driver IEMs to improve the sound.

So, any advice? Any multi driver IEMs with a narrow sound tube?

UK based phosphorus binder?

Afternoon all, and I hope your kitties are doing well.

Cara has had a slide into what maybe stage 3 or 4 from stage 2. It happened fairly quickly (from out POV anyway) last week from about Wednesday. She accidentally got a dose of her sisters gabapentin (25mg) and was pretty zonked for 24 hours. After that she started being quite fussy with her renal biscuits, dropping food and biscuits when she was trying to eat, and started losing weight rapidly.

On Monday her bloods were tested showing high creatinine, SDMA and urea (and also protein - for some reason) and the vet gave her anti-nausea injection and gave us some appetite enhancer (mirtazapine) to help. We also had an appointment to take her back for fluids

She’s had one mirtazipine on Monday, and we’re giving her pate based wet cat food - calories > proper diet just now. But it’s not ideal if there’s to be any long term.

She’s now eating - quite heartily TBH, and we skipped the fluids appt because her appetite came back so fast.

I’m hoping this was some kind of infection/stomach upset (no temperature unfortunately) and she’s recovering back to where she was, but…

And now onto the questions:
- anybody (anywhere) seen the high protein as well as high kidney stats? Did you find out what it meant?
- who (preferably in the uk) can recommend a phosphorous binder that goes well in pate food?
- actually, I’ll take recommendations from anyone but if I can’t get it here quickly…

Thanks for reading this far, and I send my hugs to all your little ones. (Cara’s not much of a hugger, but she will sniff your hair, a lot. But sending that seems a little weird.)

Remote control load projects

Evening all, (well, it is here…)

I’m just learning reaper so I’m kinda all over the place just now. Before I run off and try coding something…

Does anyone know if there’s a remote control that load a project from a list, and auto play/auto record?

Use case is to have a load of projects (one per song) and use the first pre-recorded track for the click track, midi patch changes, lighting cues etc, then record the rest of the pre-armed tracks.

I’m using a Linux laptop connected to an xr18 mixer, and this is for cueing and recording live performances.

Or… anybody got a better idea?

Luminlay nod - worth it?

Morning all (well, it’s morning here…)

ETA: post title wrong - of course I meant “mod”

I’ve had a few gigs where I’ve struggled to see the fret markers on the side of my Ibanez SR4500 under lighting. Either because the background is very bright and the neck is in shadow, or the lighting is directly on the neck and washes out any contrast.

I’m diabetic and have some sight damage so strong contrast, or overly bright just isn’t easy to see.

The bass is a natural maple finish and the side dots are quite small.

So - any general advice first?

I’m tempted by the Luminlay dots with the black border - https://luminlay.com/Images/SBM_SGM_3.jpg - but wondered if anybody had experience with these before, and any advice about modding the bass?

(I will definitely have to try on a random bit of wood first, then my backup guitar, and only then go on to mod the SR….)

So, you’ve got a Reform MSP now…

It’s not great. They’ll be rubbish and probably racist.

But, we don’t need to take this passively. It’s time to start holding them to account, to expose their shortcomings, to announce their mistakes.

Write letters to them about your _local_ issues, write to your local and regional papers when they don’t perform, or handle your query/request with a slogan.

In short, make them work.

It’s the quickest way to show them up.
