ONLY 89 DAYS UNTIL OHIO'S ELECTION AND WHY THIS MATTERS

I have been a Montgomery county election worker for 8 years and just confirmed my status to work again in November.

It’s 89 days out from the election, and that’s legally significant for every registered voter.

States update their voter rolls in anticipation of elections. That makes sense; people move away, and people die. But a federal law, The National Voter Registration Act (NVRA), requires states to complete purging their voter rolls 90 days before an election. Once we hit the 89-day mark, you cannot be removed from the list of active voters.

That means it’s time to check your status and make sure you’re listed as an active voter. If you aren’t, or if you haven’t registered yet, the time to get that fixed is now!

Inactive voters can still vote, but they have to jump through the extra hoops after voting a provisional ballot; that can mean showing up by the end of the week at a county office with additional proof of your status and it frequently results in ballots not being counted, considering the time and hassle involved.

So here’s your action item: Check now, take a screenshot showing you’re an active registered voter, and make sure you’ve got it on hand come election day. You can no longer be removed. Hold onto your documentation that you were an active registered voter past the 90-day mark, and if you run into any problems on election day, you’ve got proof of your eligibility.

If you have any doubts or questions about your status, just reach out to the Montgomery county Board of elections.

Powwow Highway (1989)

I really liked this movie. it's slightly political with current references to the AIM movement, but that results from the characters' own involvement, and is not the point of the film.

This film is also memorable for movie debuts of Graham Greene and Wes Studi..both having very bit parts

Grateful Dead Meet up at the Movies: Aug 8 & 10

The Grateful Dead’s Next Meet-Up At The Movies Will Revisit 1991

July 22, 2026

The next Grateful Dead Meet-Up At The Movies will revisit the early ’90s. Curated by Trafalgar Releasing and Rhino Entertainment, the annual event will take place on Saturday, August 8 and Monday, August 10, beginning during The Days Between—the period honoring Jerry Garcia from his August 1 birthdate to his August 9 passing.

This year’s movie captures the Dead’s June 17, 1991, stop at East Rutherford, NJ’s Giants Stadium. Bruce Hornsby, who was a touring member of the band during this period, performed throughout the night, which kicked off with the surprise opener “Eyes Of The World.” The concert included both signature selections like “Truckin’” and “Uncle John’s Band” and deeper cuts like “Saint Of Circumstance,” “Might As Well,” “New Speedway Boogie” and “China Doll,” as well as a cherished “Dark Star,” which wove in and out of the setlist and made no less than six distinct appearances and teases during the show. The Dead’s cover of The Band’s “The Weight” brought the evening to a close. The audio of this show was previously released in 2019 under the title Saint of Circumstance.

According to the release announcement, “Widely considered one of the most exciting, inspired, and greatest shows of the band’s final decade of performing, 6/17/91 was one of only two recorded on 48-track analog tape. Mixed by Jeffrey Norman in glorious surround sound with video from the multi-camera live edit, the film delivers spectacular audio and visuals. As a special treat, the event will include a cinema-exclusive sneak preview of the legendary “Shakedown Street” from the upcoming Merriweather 6/30/85 release, and a special introduction by Grateful Dead Legacy Manager and Archivist, David Lemieux.”

“The annual Meet-Up’has grown into a vital tradition that captures the true community spirit of the Grateful Dead,” said Kymberli Frueh, EVP of Programming and Content Acquisitions for Trafalgar Releasing, said in a statement. “Deadheads around the world look forward to this cinematic gathering year after year, and we are proud to keep that tradition thriving alongside our partners at Rhino. Our ongoing partnership allows us to bring the most iconic moments in the band’s history back to life, and this year’s Meet-Up is no exception.”

“The Summer Tour of 1991 was widely considered one of the best of the 1990s, and the June 17, 1991, show at Giants Stadium was nearly universally acclaimed as the best of the tour. From the ‘Eyes of the World’ opener to the sixpack of ‘Dark Star’ teases woven throughout the night, the one show from 1991 whose reputation grew as time went on was this concert,” Lemieux added. “Because it’s one of only two shows captured on 48-track analog tape, the audio quality is spectacular. Hearing this mix in a theater with fellow fans is going to be transportive, and we’re thrilled to sweeten the pot with an exclusive look at ‘Shakedown Street’ from the upcoming ’85 Merriweather release.”

Commemorative Meet-Up At The Movies merchandise, including T-shirts and posters, will also be available beginning today on the event’s website. Tickets for Meet-Up At The Movies are on sale now at MeetUpAtTheMovies.com.
