Would working with wood infect my cut?

Would working with wood infect my cut?

I got this cut about 24 hours ago while cutting wood with a mitre saw. The piece was too small, and when the blade touched it, it flew out of my hand and cut the web space between my fingers.

I was wondering whether the environment/mechanism of injury puts it at a higher risk of infection. Right now there’s only mild swelling and redness around the cut, which is normal.

I can’t fully straighten my ring finger due to pain in that area and gripping/holding objects makes it feel like the finger is tearing.

Would I likely be okay to continue working on my project tomorrow? I don’t want to fall behind in class.

I’ve tried using a bandaid, but it’s awkward because it either spreads the fingers apart (which pulls the cut open) or digs into the wound.

I know the wound is superficial, just wondering if woodworking could cause infection due to all the particles and saw dust.

My parents think I sleep excessively.

I (17F) don’t really think anything’s wrong, but my parents have repeatedly pointed out my sleeping habits. I’m just wondering if they may be right or if I’m just lazy.

I sleep around 3–5 hours daily during the day and around 6–7 hours nightly on weekdays. On weekends (when I’m not working), I tend to get around 10-12 hours of rest. Also, daytime sleep doesn't affect my nighttime sleep.

I mainly sleep during the day because I’m tired, but mainly because I just enjoy it. However, I’ve noticed that during naps I’m really hard to wake up, and my alarms don’t bother me, but I wake up easily in the morning.

Also, my sister has mentioned that I snore quite loudly. I tried recording myself sleeping, but other than faint breathing, I sound normal or hear very little snoring.

Finally, I've occasionally slept 17 hours straight but that very rarely, and I tend to wake up with a dry mouth. If I don't nap during the day, I just feel slightly more tired than usual but am otherwise fine.

Should I stay home or move for McMaster if I live about an hour away?

I live in Niagara and I’m planning on going to McMaster. The commute would be around an hour each way depending on traffic.

I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth moving to Hamilton or just staying home to save money. Rent seems expensive, especially since most student places are shared housing.

I know my first year would be free, but my sister will also be attending Mc master at the same time as me. She finishes her undergrad in 2027. So even if I have free residency, my sister would still have to find a place to stay.

I know based off my siblings that you can have classes a few hours apart. Since the university is an hour away (one way), I'd likely have to remain on campus the entire day sometimes, which I find tiring.

Would staying at home or moving would be better?

Blood on underwear. Not sure if from my period or related to my reoccurring issues.

I've been having vaginal issues for the past few months. Was diagnosed with a yeast infection multiple times (only swabbed once in november). On May 8, I had another infection and was given some medication (finished meds on May 14).

Recently, the itching returned and several fissures reopened. I assume it's from scratching because the itching became intense again. My period also ended 3 days ago. It was a normal cycle, although it came slightly later than usual.

About 2 hours ago, I woke up from a nap with severe itching and went to the bathroom. I noticed a decent amount of bright blood in my underwear. I think it may be from the fissures, but the tears are located more toward the front of the vulva near the clitoral area, while most of the blood is farther back near the vaginal/rectal area.

I'm not sure whether this is from the fissures or leftover menstrual blood, since I know blood from higher inside the uterus can sometimes continue to come out for a couple days after a period seems finished.

Is this related to the infections or likely nothing to worry about?

17F ongoing issues for months. (Sorry for length)

Was recommended this subreddit after posting on AskDocs.

I got my first yeast infection in November 2025. It was extremely swollen and I could barely walk or close my legs. My GP did a swab that came back positive for yeast infection and prescribed me Fluconazole. After that incident, I would get episodes of pain, itching, and swelling that would last a few days, vulvar up for a few days, than repeat. I only went to my GP one more time after the first incident and was given the same treatment. Also, the skin between the inner and outer folds had started dangling on one side. Wasn't there before I started getting the infections.

Around 2-3 weeks ago, my vulva area started acting up again. The area near my vagina opening was itchy and after taking a look, I noticed the skin was red and seemed to be peeling. Also had noticed drops of blood when wiping for the last month, but hadn't thought much of it. I have an insane amount of discharge, my undergarments get soaked less than an hour after putting them on, linears barely stay in place, and I noticed that there are wet spots left on chairs when I stand. Also, sometimes they're clear and other times they're yellow.

I went to my GP on Wednesday, she said the area only looked irritated and prescribed me terbinafine HCL 1%. A few hours after applying it, my inner folds swelled up, one more than the other, and became hard. Also, I was already in pain before but it worsened. Went back to the clinic on Friday (gave me different cream and oral medication) and asked for a gynecologists referal since this has been going on for months. Was told i can't see one since I'm not 18 and am a virgin. My inner folds have been swelling, getting better, than re-swelling all day. Also noticed there's a bunch of fissures on the inner sides of the outer folds.

Not sure if i should see a walk-in-clinic GP and ask for a referal or wait and see if the new medication work. Would appreciate some advice.

My doctor refuses to refer me to specialist after months of issues.

I’m 17F, 5'2, 64 kg. I don’t smoke, vape, or drink, and I don’t have any other medical conditions.

Since around November 2025, I’ve been having recurring issues in the vulvar/vaginal area that were first diagnosed as a yeast infection. The first time it happened, I had a lot of swelling and pain and could barely walk, sit, or close my legs. A swab test confirmed yeast, and I was given oral medication (one pill. I don’t remember the name). It cleared up after that.

Afterwards, I kept getting episodes of intense itching, sometimes bad enough that I would scratch until it bled. I also had occasional swelling, but not as severe as the first time. The symptoms would come and go, a few days better, then it would flare up again.

I went back to my GP during another bad episode and was given the same oral medication again (one pill), which helped for a while.

For the last 2-3 of weeks, the area down there has been red, sore, and tender, and the skin seems slightly irritated/peeling. I went back to my GP on Wednesday and was prescribed terbinafine hydrochloride 1% cream and told it only looked like irritation.

After using the cream yesterday, once in the morning and again at night. I felt tightness below around midnight and noticed a lot of swelling. One side was worse than the other, and it was painful to walk, sit, or close my legs. My discharge is still clear. Also, there's these red streaks along the skin with blood coming out along certain parts of the mark due to all the irritation (not scratch marks). The swelling went down quite a bit by the next morning.

I went back to my GP again today, wasn’t sure if it was a reaction to the cream or another flare of infection. She said it was likely another yeast infection and prescribed me fluconazole 50 mg (3 tablets over 7 days) with clotrimazole 2% (external use only for 6 days). She also had me do bloodwork to check sugar levels.

My mom also asked about a referral to a specialist because this has been going on for months now, but we were told gynecologists don’t see people beneath 18 and virgins. Also said I keep getting infections in that area because some people are just more prone to them.

My question is whether it's reasonable for me to push for a gynecologists again or if it's even necessary to see one if I improve. Also, not all my episodes feel like yeast infection (this one for example has no cottage cheese discharge and very little itching) so could my episodes be something else?

My undergarments are 100% cotton and I dry properly. Also, I use scent free products and haven't changed my laundry detergent or anything in years. I avoid tight clothing as well.

I just saw someone else's post and they're ankle was acting similarly to mine. I didn't want to ask one of the commenters a question about myself on someone else's thread so I made my own.

I injured my ankle a few years ago which is when it started making the snapping sounds. At first, it happened occasionally but it's become more frequent. Snaps when I'm sitting and simply moving my foot, walking, jumping, pointing foot outwards, and ponting upwards (toe to shin).

It's usually painless, though sometimes when I jump or land on it, it'll snap louder than usual and send a sharp pain up my leg. Also, my outer ankle hurts when I point my foot inwards and feels tender after being active.

I did an an ultrasound not that long ago but it came back normal, my ligaments were just thickened. Do I likely have peroneal tendon subluxation? Also, I've heard that constant snapping can fray the tendons, and since mine snaps daily, is that concerning or fine?
