Passed Bio CLEP and it was hell

Heard it was the easiest natural science CLEP (and it probably is) but it was still actual hell. I almost cried during the first 10 minutes of the test

I had ZERO prior Bio knowledge and studied for abt two months using the OpenStax textbook (https://openstax.org/books/biology-2e/pages/1-introduction). Honestly, would not recommend. It was too theory-heavy and didnt prepare me for all the applicative and experiment-based questions. It provided decent base knowledge so I WOULD recommend reading through the entire thing, but dont waste time studying each topics meticulously. Use AI to summarize if needed, the books written to be quite hard to comprehend and illustrations often throw you off.

None of the popular YouTube playlists were of significant and comprehensive help, but the Boseman Science playlist was very short, easy to sprint through and surprisingly helped a lot with the Evolution/Natural Selection based questions despite how short and simple the videos were: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLFCE4D99C4124A27A

The hardest part abt the Bio CLEP is that the material is way too broad. Unlike most other CLEPs that cover a semester's worth of material, the Bio one is a whole year's worth. But you cant really skip anything since youd have no idea which part would be on the test.

The test made up mostly of applicative, inference questions with lots of graphs and experiments. So prepare yourself with the skill to interprete study cases of mutations, illnesses, chemical measures, etc. BE WARNED: MANY QUESTIONS WILL BE LONG AND HARD TO COMPREHEND. Skip ahead but make sure you mark them to come back later.

VOCAB IS IMPORTANT, know your vocabs guys there are plenty Quizlet vocab flashcards (just search Biology CLEP) so you can learn all the terms needed.

Idk if the test was recently updated or I got unlucky with a hard version, cuz threads from the past recent few years say the Peterson's practice test was way harder than the test, but in my case the Peterson's test was tough but way easier than the actual test. Still it was a nice practice test to familiarize yourself with applicative questions, so do have a go: https://quizlet.com/983252073/clep-biology-practice-test-1-flash-cards/?x=1jqU&i=6jza49

Good luck everyone!

Is IDS2461 a hard class?

I plan to take it as an elective, it sounds interesting but I couldnt find any past posts reviewing this course so I worry the course could tank my GPA. How was your experience w this course?

Notre Dame intl student transfer and aid

Hi everyone, ND is my absolute dream school and I had just been rejected off the waitlist. It was devastating I can't lie, and I'm still recovering from the hit.

But, I'm pretty set on transferring here - hopefully Mendoza! (But probably not Finance or BA since they're super competitive, any suggestion which major I should choose instead? Hoping to go into Finance after grad, thanks guys)

I am an intl student, so I'm concerned about my chance of getting in as one and especially the aid! I do need financial aid, but I'm worried abt my chance as an intl transfer applicant. Has anyone got any information this? Also, what should I do now at the college I'm admitted to to increase my chance of admission? I will be majoring in Finance there.

Thanks everyone in advance!

Continue self-advocating for waitlist?

Hi everyone, I was very hesitant about this post as all the info I've found either says to only add updates until April 15th or be persistent and updates your AO a lot until u get the results. However, the latter advices seem to all come from many manyy years ago and I'm not sure if it's still applicable. Notre Dame is my absolute number 1 option and I have sent a LOCI and 3 updates to my AO, the latest one being from 29th of April. I know there has been an initial wave of WL from early May, and some speculations about the WL closing so I'm quite anxious. But I'm honestly not sure what to update the AO. I've told them my final senior grades, updates on awards, ECs I do, my continual interest, reasons I love ND and what I want to do there. I think I've done everything yet the silence makes me feel like there's more I can do. I'm going out on a whim here but if there's anything I can do, can the ND students and alumnis help me out here? The website says they don't encourage an additional LOR so I didn't add any.

Thank you in advance to everyone 💞 Go Irish 🍀
