Many questions about Crawlers, new to this.

So I discovered this rabbit hole of stuff after hearing a North Carolina 911 call of some humanoid figure jumping in the back of his truck and leaving scratch marks, and the guy is screaming “that’s not human”. I’m now very interested in this entire rabbit hole.

Are “crawlers” and other cryptids actually real? If so, where are they most commonly found in the world?

What are the origins of them?

Are they related to other cryptids and humanoid unknown creatures, how common are crawlers compared to other cryptids?

Are crawlers aggressive towards humans?

Damaged record

I just noticed one of my newest vinyl record is damaged, I don't think it came like that. The vinyl has noise on it. And these colorful marks (like oil with water) and strange superficial scratches have appeared. It doesn't go out neither with a cloth or water. Does anybody know anything?

My friend gave me this all-in-one turntable she bought for $160. Is it actually worth it?

I’m pretty new to vinyl and still learning how all of this works.A friend recently gave me this all-in-one record player that she bought for around $160. For someone who is just getting into vinyl, is something like this a decent place to start? What should I be paying attention to as a beginner?

Would love to hear what more experienced vinyl people think. Any advice is appreciated!

Would you return a $200 Technics SL-1200 MK1 because the strobe light stopped working?

I just purchased this Technics SL-1200 MK1 from eBay for around $200 (thank you to everyone here who encouraged me to buy it), and it was advertised as fully functioning, but the strobe light randomly stopped working while I was testing it out. In the video, I don’t have the turntable hooked up to my receiver/speakers yet, so that’s why it’s quiet. I haven’t had a chance yet to install the dust cover on either (since I’m contemplating returning it anyway).

When I first turned it on, the strobe light worked for about a minute before the light suddenly shut off. It wouldn’t turn back on any time I toggled the turntable speed between on and off. It randomly came back on one time, but then when I toggled back off and on again, it wouldn’t come on again.

I looked at troubleshooting steps online, but it looks like replacing the lights and soldering is required, which definitely seems like out of my capabilities. I could take it for repair, but I’ve got a feeling it’ll be very costly.

I’ve just been using a turntable speed app on my phone to adjust the speed, but I’m a little bummed the strobe light is broken. Would you suggest I just return this and try to find another Technics table, or keep it as is knowing it might still be a good deal?

Vinyl not playing?

I bought this on the 8th, from the official venders, and it’s randomly not playing half way through I Don’t Love You. Does anyone know if it’s the actual disk or is it my player - and if so is there any remedies? I love playing my disks but I’m shite at trouble shooting shit like this. Thanks!

Very distorted audio

Hi all, I just got this L-3866USB after my Sansui unfortunately died down. I expected it to maybe be a downgrade but still playable. My setup consists of a Philips FA564 and B&W Vision speakers. I tried the Lenco out today and unfortunately the sound produced is way too distorted and sounds like a deepfried meme. Is there an easy way to identify the problem? Is it the needle of this used Lenco player, or could it be my speaker cables? (They have ‘loose copper wires’ (?) at the end but they worked fine with my Sansui. Im a bit of a noob still so thanks for any help! :)

Beginner LP help

Hi fellow record collectors,
I hope you're all doing well!

I'm looking for some advice. I'm new to record collecting and recently bought my first sealed LP. I know I might get some backlash for having a Crosley suitcase record player, but as I'm just starting out, I'm really happy with it for now and plan to upgrade in the future.

In the attached video, the yellow marbled LP is the brand-new sealed record that arrived today. I'm not sure whether it's warped, or if the slight wobble I'm seeing is completely normal. The black LP shown afterwards is a thrifted record that plays and looks perfectly normal by comparison.

Also, is the weird background noise you can hear while the yellow LP is playing normal? If not, what could be causing it, and is there anything I can do to fix it?

Thanks in advance for any advice—I really appreciate it!
