i absolutely loved Pompeii//Utility, i think it is one of the best albums to come out this year so far (now that i’m thinking about it i should’ve done an initial thoughts post like i did for some other albums). With that being said, how the hell did Harrison (who has production credits on all of Utility except Ew!) produce beats like this? There’s just something about them that has such a unique feel from the rest of the beats throughout Earl’s discography. I wanna know how you can even create ambient melodies and stuff like the beats on Utility.

wow, so this album really exceeded my expectations. There are some great songs on here that i’d consider Edward’s best work to date (Eg. Slavery, Turn Off The Lights, Chaos In the Order). I feel like he took what made Museum Music so cool and ran with that for 26 songs. My only qualm with this album is the 10 different “Art Is Sucking The Life Out Of Me” tracks, i feel like if there was only 2 or so this would almost be a completely flawless album in my eyes.

I also want to talk about how beautiful some of the songs on this are. Obviously Slavery is amazing but holy shit i think Chaos In The Order rivals that. This album has a perfect blend of some really beautiful songs and some “bangers” (like Guest List, Luxury Delusions Aéronef, etc.).

I’m very pleased with what we got on this album, i’ll probably have to relisten to this but based off this first listen i had a great time. Im sure whatever Edward has in store for us next it’ll be very cool.
