American bride, Kna Groom

Hiiiiiii ladies!!

I’m planning for my Feb 2027 wedding to my amazing fiance, and lots of stuff is non-traditional because of the cultural rules and restrictions of the Knanaya diaspora.

It’s cool, I don’t mind not getting married in a church ( Malayalam Mass is so long anyway ) but my fiancé’s family wants a Chantham Charthu. They’re letting me and my family attend and I want to make an impression because I’m not allowed a Mylanchi (at least by name) or the Madhuram Veppu.

WHAT DO I WEAR?! Traditionally everyone wears a saree, but I do see brides wear really beautiful heavy lehengas. Are there colors that are traditionally worn during these events? My fiance is so nontraditional and frankly, contrary, that he’s like “let’s just wear black” but I’m not dumb enough to do THAT. What do yall think? Happy to hear any and all suggestions comments etc. thanks guys love ya!

Any ways to improve my image?

I get a lot of positive feedback anyway but it’s always good to have a 3rd party perspective. Here’s some non makeup and dressed up examples. 32F. Interested in all advice, the good, the bad, and the chaotic. Thanks guy :)

10 yr anniversary

10 years ago today, a friend of mine was laid to rest at the age of 23. Just last year, another friend of mine was laid to rest at the age of 33. Another friend was laid to rest about 8 years ago. I’m only 33 myself. I think about these boys and I am so sad. It is truly so fucked up they will never be able to grow old and choose their lives the way the rest of us do that were left behind. I wasn’t even super close with 2 of them, but when I think about it, I get so fucking sad. I don’t think I will ever truly get over it. They deserved so much more.

Neutrals

This dress is just Shiitake Mushroom and Ecru!

I tied off a mandala on each side and then did some geode style bunching every where else. I wish I had taken a picture of it while processing!! I’ll place a couple stills below for details.

Fully dyed Rayon Suit

here’s the final result of my suit project!! The skirt is absolutely SO small, but with the help of my fiance, I was able to get it buttoned. I’ll share pictures of the skirt by itself in the comments below if possible. All of this was done with Mindbender X. Thank you for looking!! I can’t wait to wear this jacket to my job!

If only this fit me

gravity dye w/ Mindbender X on a thrifted linen dress. It was already too small for me to begin with, but now it’s definitely too small. :’)

capillary action

So I’ve been working on this personal project of dying an 100% rayon suit I picked up from the goodwill. I had great plans of keeping some color blocking but was quickly humbled by a science lesson I had in grade school.

The liquid from the ice climbed up against gravity on the suit jacket, which thankfully did create some wicked colors across the entirety of the piece. I only used Mindbender X on this. What do you think?

Tiedye party

Part of a project I put together to make tshirts for my group for Electric Forest. I enlisted 7 people to help dye all of this, and we worked for 10 hours! It took about 7 hours to fold them all with another friend the night before. All in all, we made nearly 30 shirts, 12 bandanas, and two pairs of pants. Here is a sampling of what we accomplished. Everything was Dharma Trading Dye , shirts presoaked in soda ash for 25 minutes, then after they were dyed they were wrapped in cling wrap and left in a plastic tub for ~24 hours outside in the Texas heat to process. 🦋❤️❤️

dyes used were : Turquoise, Yellow, Fuchsia, Orchid, Tangerine, Wasabi, Better Black.

Wasabi/Turquoise/Better Black

all done with Dharma dyes!! I used Wasabi/Turquoise/Better Black. Each piece used the same premixed dye (I like to add soda ash to the powders.)

I placed the black beneath the shirt and the pants. The shirt got a spiral, and the pants were high scrunched with different sizes of aluminum balls. I live in Texas so they got about 28 hours outside before I couldn’t handle it any longer and had to rinse them.

I’m so pleased, I can’t wait to wear this to Electric Forest!

Book recommendations for disabled Mom

Howdy, all! ❤️✨ I’m looking for book recommendations for my disabled mother. She has Mild Cognitive Impairment from a lifetime of MS and small ischemic strokes, but can read write and speak like someone who has none of that. She really likes fantasy, or media that can transport her as her mobility is very low. I’ve joined a book club recently and have been buying extras of the monthly books to give to her but she didn’t like the first two. The first was A Touch of Darkness by Scarlett St Clair - and neither of us enjoyed the writing or the “spiciness.” The second was Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter, which I loved, but the imagery disturbed her and she DNF. Fiction and nonfiction recommendations are welcome, but I have a feeling she’ll enjoy Fiction the most. thank you for reading!! ✨
