Does the among us show take place before the main game?

Assuming the show is cannon, (which it might not be so take it light on the theory) the show's timeline likely takes place in the far far past since they have no knowledge currently of Stickmin, calling them aliens. We know that crewmates and stickmin at least have a familiarity with each other since they have photos of them, have mini versions of them, work in their Maps, and even imitate their art.

Could this either be replacement or cute imitation mischief while on the job? I don't know.

What also supports my theory is during the party they have party hats with the numbers 2019 which can't be a reference to when either of these properties came out, since Among Us came out in 2018 and Henry Stickman collection came out in 2021, with prior games being released as far back as 2008 on newgrounds.

My personal headcanon is is that crewmates are like minions in a way, and are universal workers hired for specific missions (likely through Mira or something) and only higher up crewmates, more trained and equipped, like captains access to knowledge to supposed, aliens? like stickmin?

And what really compels this theory for me, is that the missions that crewmates seem to go on in the games appear to be way more dangerous than the ones mentioned or seen in the show. The imposters in the game seem to be way more prevalent and powerful, along with crewmates going on continuously more dangerous planets, like Polus (which is named after a character in Henry Stickmin!!!) and Fungle.

The crewmates in the show only seem to have traveling colonies on very small planets, compared to the entire research centers they have in Polus.

One thing I like to mention is in the game the blood of the crewmates for a while used to be red, until Among Us went global, and they had to numb it down for other countries age ratings, making it the color of the crewmates suit. The insides of the crewmates are also the same color but slightly darker. The Among Us show seems to use red blood all the same. They also make no mention of Polus or any other planets except what's seemingly their home planet?

I think this all points to the Among Us show being an old version of Among Us, or just set very early in the timeline. (assuming if the show takes place in the same timeline)

How do I improve this drawing of a red crewmate?

I made this on Ibis paint and I used this tutorial.

https://youtu.be/RrqkAlkn4BA?si=vVsNpRTAbsDnvbxx

Now, since this tutorial uses kritacolor I had to use the closest equivalent to the tools that he uses for ibis paint. Does anyone have any critiques or tips, feel free to draw over if necessary.

If you're wondering the exact process here is a small speedpaint!

(Also yes I know I messed up on the box.)

Why was red blood from crewmates removed?

The characters blood was red for all crewmate kills for the first year of that Among Us skyrocketed into popularity, but now the blood of a crewmate is based on color, and none of the new promotional art seems to feature any blood anywhere.

In the show the blood is still red, probably due to freed up restrictions because television and gaming being two very different things, so it's definitely not some sort of lore reason.

I'm very curious if it was due to visual quirk where you can see animations through walls and the team decided to make blood colored as an advantage?

Or was it done to lighten the tone of the game in a shift to make Among Us cuter/more marketable.?

Or keep the age rating down, although that wouldn't make that much sense since you wouldn't add blood in the first place?

I have so much Nostalgia for old Among Us, so, many of the unnecessary changes to the game similar to this have always confused me.

How can I improve this drawing of a red crewmate?

I used a tutorial called how to shade and paint, by AmILobter, now in this tutorial he doesn't use Ibis paint so I had to find the closest equivalent to the tools he's using in the video.

Does anyone have any tips or alternative methods that could help me render better?

Skin vs. Suit debate

The crewmates being able to blush implies that this exterior is skin, but then black is able to pull off the skin like a shirt or a suit, they also never refer to their "skin" as "skin" and they only call it their suit during the entirety of the show. (except for one scene where they were high)

Blacks visor also fogging up implies that there is somewhat visible depth behind the visor which means the visor is hollow, so there's no organs or eyes inside it.

My theory is that it's a suit, but it functions as skin AND technically clothing, we know they drink through osmosis so they might wear their suits to keep from drinking random liquids, they also can canonically change color, (due to Red saying that they all had a indigo phase at some point) they also have names presumably outside of the ship, but are just called their colors for Simplicity.

What does a crewmate taste like?

Crewmates are pretty large by being 3' 6 and 92 lbs, so now I imagine that they would be pretty thick and would have much meat and fat on them, the creator of the among the show Owen Dennis dubiously says they smell taste delicious, but Owen Dennis never takes anything serious outside of Cannon.

It's a shame we can't read any of this.

It's kind of cool to know that they're one bone is under their visor instead of protruding throughout all the upper half of their body. It's also weird to note that they're backpacks are part of their Anatomy which would be weird considering what their backpacks cover.

Among Us crewmate Anatomy based on the Among Us show.

I believe that crewmates are selectively breeded and evolved humans by mira, they were probably bred and evolved like this to be easy to identify or autopsy in common workplace accidents. they don't seem to have consistent Anatomy, this is simply some the stuff I gathered from things shown in the show consistently or things confirmed by developers or that appear in game.

Some weird facts that I've gathered is that,

1: The crewmates despite being implied to not be able to take off their suits, or at least wear them like skin every day, seem to be able to change the colors of the suits like hair, which is implied in the last episode of the show.

2: The crewmates are applied to have maybe hair or fur this is not only is this shown through Visual gags but also if we consider that the chefs not only wear hats but lime also wears a bandana which is likely a part of the reason he can fit through the vents easier than the rest of the crew who would have mostly exposed hair, it's also notable that the crewmates with the most seemingly Technical and hard jobs wear hats, likely to prevent any hair that may seemingly fall through and damage equipment. I did not include this in the drawing however.

3: the cremates are canonically asexual creatures this explains why any crewmate children in the games only match the color of their supposed parents, or don't at all rather than a mix of either. Although this theory is challenged in episode 6, iykyk.

And yes I know all this is probably not canon just thought I'd whip up something for fun and out of curiosity.

What type of urban metro–like aesthetic is this?

The simple geometric art inspired by graffiti is always so charming. Especially when placed in a city setting with a laid-back Urban upbeat setting that reminds me of youth, it shares lots of similarities to an Urban Air in a way or Splatoon.

It doesn't seem like Frutiger Metro considering Frutiger Metro is a little bit older and features way more nature like curves and shapes, while this seems to be Graffiti and City Life inspired moreso.

Where can I improve from here?

I made the first drawing as a milestone of sort for the second and I want to know where to improve my portraits from here, I use mainly products from Bic, including correction fluid, blue pens and mechanical pencils, I also occasionally use a white uni ball pen for thick smooth black lines (shown here).

One of the main reasons I use correction fluid despite its many drawbacks including its insane flamability and it's weird clumpy look in certain settings, is because I can critique my own work in a way while also allowing me to see my mistakes and how I improved from it.

If you have any materials, techniques, or just any good criticism in general, then feel free!

(The drawing is of Michael Jackson, the first one of his moviepedia profile image, or just the fourth image on Google at the moment. I unfortunately cannot remember what photo the second one was based off of though.)

Rendering tips for ibis paint x

I use watercolor opaque 2, along with the basic pen fade for large fillings of color, I would like some nice tips to improve my rendering, lots of tutorials are either vague on what they do, or are very advanced.

The jump from paper to digital has been ROUGH, and I still use paper sketches before I use the watercolor opaque brush to sketch basic line art.

I'd say I'm pretty used to the UI for the most part and drawing with my finger is not that much different from an actual pencil surprisingly.

I'm looking for something that could be reasonably quick (or simple) for finished pieces, studies, or portraits. Whether it be new brushes, techniques, a draw over, or whatever just sorta fits this vague criteria.

I'd say pretty skilled at sketching and choosing colors, but for the life of me I can't render properly, I can shade great on paper sketches but digital is so complex. Does anyone have any critiques or tips for me to improve?
