How do you avoid getting scammed on Carousell?

I'm planning to buy something on Carousell, but the seller is based in the province. What's the safest way ba to handle the transaction?

I understand why the seller would insist on payment first before shipping. From their perspective, they don't want to send the item only for the buyer to disappear without paying.

But on my end, I'm also hesitant to pay first. What if the item arrives damaged, isn't as described, or doesn't arrive at all? 😭

How do you usually handle situations like this? Are there any safe payment methods or couriers that protect both the buyer and the seller?

Would really appreciate any tips. Thanks!

Metrobank Visa Signature application declined despite good credit profile. Any idea why?

Hi everyone,

I recently applied for a Metrobank Visa Signature but unfortunately got declined. I'm trying to understand what could have affected the decision.

Here's my credit profile:

RCBC Hexagon Club – 2 years old, ₱258,000 credit limit

BDO Diners Club International – 1 year old, ₱350,000 credit limit

No late payments or missed payments

I always pay my statement balances in full, usually as soon as my SOA is generated

Never been over limit

Good overall credit standing

I thought I had a fairly decent profile, so I was quite surprised by the rejection.

For those who were approved for Metrobank Visa Signature, what do you think Metrobank looks for that other banks might weigh differently?

I'd appreciate any insights or similar experiences. Thanks!

EastWest declined my application even though I never finished it?

Hi everyone,

I'm hoping someone who's familiar with EastWest's credit card application process can shed some light on this. 🙏

I applied for an EastWest credit card through ESTA and completed everything up to the employment details. But when I reached the selfie/liveness verification step, I decided not to proceed anymore because I realized the card wasn't really worth it for me.

The following days, EastWest emailed me saying my application was still pending and asked me to complete it by submitting the remaining requirements.

Then one day, I received a text message saying my application had been evaluated and declined like??

Naguguluhan ako. If my application was still pending and incomplete, bakit inevaluate?

My main concern is whether this means EastWest already performed a hard inquiry with TransUnion, CIBI, or another credit bureau despite me not completing the application.

I'm also wondering if this incomplete application would now count as a declined application if I decide to apply again in the future.

Has anyone experienced something similar or knows how EastWest processes incomplete ESTA applications?

Thanks in advance
