[OC] The youngest teams in WNBA history, by Basketball Reference average age

Apologies for very basic formatting, graphic design is NOT my passion.

I made this because people say the Mystics are “the youngest team in the WNBA”, but it goes beyond that. My Mystics are the youngest team in WNBA history, ever.

[Seerat Sohi] “[The Mystics] have this seemingly contradictory mix of toughness and joy that defines their identity. “

I had to use a short version for the title, but this is the full quote:

“The Mystics, who just brought in Betnijah Laney-Hamilton, have really found this identity. They double down on the defensive end. They are a top 3 defensive team throughout the course of the entire season. They have this seemingly contradictory mix of toughness and joy that defines their identity. And that’s why I love the Betnijah Laney-Hamilton addition, because she embodies both of those things.”

Does anyone know where (or if) I can buy a jersey in a larger size than the sizes on the WNBAstore shop?

If they don’t have one on my size I’ll just have to get a hat.

EDIT: they do have shirts in my size actually, just not jerseys so maybe I’ll get that

I got my first Mystics tickets! Seeing them play the Lynx on the 21st.

The Mystics are my favorite team and I chose the Lynx game because Olivia Miles is my favorite non-Mystics player to watch. Plus, with our tendency for beating good teams, could be really close!

I listened to The Message by Grandmaster Flash (the album) and was blown away.

I was aware of the classic status of the song The Message, and so I had already heard the song before because it is such an important part of the rap canon. But for some reason I had written off the album it was from as lesser than just the song, but I was blown away by how good it is as a full album.

The Message is a great song but it isn’t even my favorite, even more than it I loved She’s Fresh, It’s Nasty, and The Adventures of Grandmaster Flash on the Wheel of Steel. The only song I did not flat out love was You Are and even that was solid.

[CW: suicidal ideation of someone other than myself] Recent events in my life have reignited past trauma I had ignored in real time.

This post came out longer than I expected but here it goes. I am not sure what I am looking for between support, condolences/sympathy, advice, etc.

I have experienced suicidal ideation but this is not about that. I have an (online, mostly, but we’ve met a couple times) friend who has recently been dealing with pretty intense (in my opinion) psychosis. They have been talking about imagining people aren’t real or are all lying to them. It isn’t constant but it happens a few times a week.

One recent thing they said was that they felt a desire to “kill someone and wear their skin.” I have been in therapy for over a decade, I know that thoughts are not intentions or actions. I know this person is not actually a danger to anyone. But this event in particular has made me reflect a lot on another time a couple years prior with a different friend, who I’ll differentiate as V, who I knew (and still know, he’s doing more okay now) in person.

V was at the time going through a depressive episode. I was aware he had dealt with suicidal ideation, however I wasn’t aware of the extent. One time after I had driven to pick him up since he couldn’t drive, he confessed to me that he had, while I was driving, been close to taking the wheel from me and trying to kill us both by driving into oncoming traffic.

At the time, I was really trying to be the best and most supportive friend I could be. I made sure to tell him I still was his friend, I still care a ton about him, and the things I knew from therapy about how our thoughts are not our actions and we can control our actions. I told him I still trusted him. For the immediate future I had him sit in the back seat while I was driving but not long term.

But in retrospect I really failed to properly de-escalate myself, in the rush to de-escalate V. I really was focusing so much on his feelings in that situation and not taking time to process how scary of a situation that was and how it made me feel. And then because of life circumstances I saw V less and less often and it fell into the background of my mind until this recent event made me come back to those same feelings.

As I said at the top, not sure what I am looking for by posting this but I’m not against whatever anyone has to say.

My favorite crack ship literally no one else has thought of:

I love the idea of Yelan x Clorinde. I felt this before they met in that recent event, but they finally did meet there.

I love the idea of these two no-nonsense badass ladies sitting down and playing role playing games and probably Genius Invokation like the NEEEEERDS they are. Obviously everyone knows about Clorinde’s TTRPG love, but Yelan’s comes from her Friendship Level 7 teapot interaction where she rolls dice to interrogate Traveler.

Someday I may write some fic of this…

I was going through my phone and found a video (and photos) I took from when Ranno was revealed for Rivals 1 at Super Smash Con in 2017!

I can’t also post pictures in the post so I will add them in the comments

Song vs Song (unofficial): C.R.E.A.M. by Wu-Tang Clan vs Shook Ones Pt. II by Mobb Deep

Title. Two huge classics of 90s rap, in the definitive top 5 rap songs of the decade according to almost everyone. They are also rap songs with two rappers (three with the hook in CREAM) that are cautionary tales of the streets. Which do you like more?

For me, it is close. I think that CREAM has a better beat than Shook Ones, although of course both are all-timers. I also think that Method Man delivering a hook is better Havoc and Prodigy doing the hook to Shook Ones, he has a much greater talent for catchy cadences.

That being said, the lyrics to the hook massively lean towards Shook Ones, and is kind of the whole root of the song. The lyric “You ain’t a crook, son, you’re just a shook one” to refer to people who consider/enter a life of crime out of bad circumstances rather than any actual desire to.

The lyrics of verses are kinda split. I think Prodigy’s verse on Shook Ones (the first verse) might be the single best rap verse of all time, it is that amazing. However I do think the second verse by Havoc is significantly worse. I think both verses on CREAM are great, and split the two on Shook Ones. By which I mean, I think both CREAM verses are better than Havoc’s verse but are worse than Prodigy’s verse.

Overall I would pick Shook Ones Pt. 2 but I think it is super close. I have a feeling it will win as well, but I hope it is close.

As a newer fan, I am always trying to learn more about older players and historic eras. I’ve watched a lot of highlights of Vince and he’s obviously one of the best offensive players of his era, but I have never heard anyone talk about his defense. Was he good on D or just neutral? I’m sure if he was outright bad I’d have heard that so I assume not.
