Body & Bell questions
Question 1: Are y’all taking off your watches? Or is there some magical way to do movements like cleans that don’t risk bonking the bell into a watch and damaging it?
Question 2: How many kettlebells did you have when you started? How many do you have now?
Question 3: Has anybody uses those clip handle things that let you use a kettlebell grip on a dumbbell? Are they any good?
Question 4: I’ve noticed that people who love B&B seem to really love it. What other teams have you tried and why do you prefer B&B?
Thanks!
What little thing(s) haunt you?
I just finished book 8 and out of all of it I keep finding myself heartsick about Ferdinand.
From the >!implication that Imogen hit him to the discovery that his owner's boyfriend almost killed him more than once !<we know he's had a hard life. When he was looking in the window at Princess Donut he wasn't just trying to get a piece of that sweet Grand Champion ass, he was seeing that not every cat lived in constant fear.
Then he's pulled into the dungeon and made sentient, but without a companion to love him and tell him they're proud of him the way Donut does.
Everyone acts like he's a joke and an annoyance, a creature to be grudgingly tolerated because he's useful in some ways. The laugh at him for insisting he's handsome and good, but nobody else will say a kind word about him.
He is, effectively, all alone in a brutal hell and it devastates me so much more than a fictional cat's suffering should.
Justice for Ferdinand. 😭
What little parts of the story have had an outsized emotional impact on you?
Talk me into (or out of) a Cheetah 2 Ultra
I own a T-Rex 3 + Helio Strap, and an Apple Watch Ultra 3. I was planning to upgrade to an Ultra 4, offsetting the cost by selling my Ultra 3. But the price increase rumours kind of soured my interest, and yet i still want a new device.
So I’m looking at the Cheetah. (Still offset by selling my Apple Watch.)
As far as I can tell my T-Rex 3 has the same sensors and software. Only differences I am aware of are no flashlight or golf tracking on the T-Rex. And the weight.
On paper it doesn’t seem like enough of an upgrade to justify the $900 CAD cost. Even if I can make much of it back by selling another really good watch. Buuuuut…. I remain tempted.
Anybody make a similar swap? Happy with the choice? Am I crazy?
Strength Builder is shockingly weak for dumbbell movements
There’s seriously no dumbbell squat other than single dumbbell? No dumbbell deadlift? What is happening, these are basic, common movements for people who work out at home.
I don’t want to spend 10 minutes after each workout trying to translate the very common movements I did into barbell equivalents.
Am I crazy? Am I just not finding the right options? Or are they actually not available?
Team suggestion: Dungeon Crawler Carl Edition
Let’s have some fun with a slightly different “what team?” type of post.
If you knew you would be dropped into the dungeon crawl (from the Dungeon Crawler Carl book series), which team are you choosing to ensure you survive? What about if you can only train at home?
New Fitbit app vs Gareth
If you’re a weirdo like me who studies how people use their wearables and interact with the resulting data, you know that Fitbit users are having a bit of a moment about the app’s reinvention as Google Health.
If you’re not a weirdo, well this week it’s a thing. Crazy that they’re not pumped about the AI infusion, right?
But this particular complaint (honestly probably valid) had to be shared.
Where is “Restore Purchase” option in iOS Zepp app?
My Aura annual subscription purchase was billed, shows as active in the App Store subscription info, and yet still isn’t actually available in the app a week after the purchase.
Amazfit support told me they were escalating my ticket to somebody who could help but then just closed the ticket. Subscription still isn’t active in app.
Apple requires that apps provide a Restore Purchase link. But I can’t find it anywhere in Zepp.
Can somebody point me in the right direction please?
With the addition of support for FTMS connection to rowing machines recently, it would be amazing to see Amazfit add support for FTMS treadmills next.
I know lots of runners love to hate the "dreadmill" but some of us are deranged and love it, while others simply need to use them sometimes when weather or other factors prevent running outside. Having reliable pace, distance, and incline data from indoor runs would be huge, comprehensive data throughout a training block does matter.
It's hard for me to run hills without driving at least 30 minutes from home. But I can do incline training easily on my treadmill. Except I don't get any of the data I need to actually look at how my uphill running is improving.
I'm hoping the FTMS framework from the rowing feature means treadmills are already on their roadmap. Who's with me?
