AIO to my internet friend coming out
So for context I am genderfluid. We have texted on and off for almost a year, never met in person. They asked me about going on a romantic date earlier in the month and I told them I'm not really into men rn. Which prompted them coming out(?) as genderfluid to me today. The way they did it made it seem like they just wanna get in my pants, but maybe I'm wrong. Granted, they have never questioned their gender or identity to me before so it felt very out of left field. If you need more context or have questions lemme know. Im just feeling baffled rn.
UPDATE: After reading some of yalls advice and comments, I have decided to go with my gut. I am also going to stop responding to comments as some of you were supportive of me only because of transphobia, not realizing I too am genderfluid. Which doesn't feel good. I have also been told to kill myself over this (not in comments, privately), so after typing this I'm done interacting with this post. I shouldn't really be surprised that transphobes came out in full force. That being said, I was very thankful for the many people (allies and queers alike) who offered advice, support, and shared their own stories. I have ultimately decided to cut ties with this friend and wished them the best in their transition journey. Thank you again to the people who helped give me the courage to directly tell them "regardless of your gender, I don't want to date you."
After ending the friendship he admitted to lying and treated being friends with me was an experiment.. i feel gross https://www.reddit.com/r/AmIOverreacting/s/KSH0N20x41
