What do you think the immediate aftermath of the movie was? (spoilers)

I keep going back to the ending of the film and trying to think about what the immediate aftermath would have been like. So I was interested in thoughts, theories, etc.

I’ll start with the missing people. There is a lot of them. Obviously little Lisa is now an orphan. Pearline and Mary’s respective husbands are bound to seek out some answers. Same with Cornbread’s wife. Basically a whole bunch of people just up and disappeared because there is likely to be no trace of them since they burned up.

The scene at the club/slaughterhouse when discovered. Eventually someone and/or authorities are going to arrive at the scene and find a dead Smoke and a bunch of dead Klan members and the shoot out. Inside the club they’ll see a hell of a scene, signs of fighting and I would assume a dead Annie in the middle (unless Smoke buried her and the others left which I think there is a good chance of).

The pastor and the congregation. It appears Sammie leaves pretty much instantly (as he said he would) and goes to live his life. The scene in the church would have been quite confronting too. And Sammie’s father, the pastor, how would he have taken what he saw, plus his son running off, plus the news when it eventually reached that everyone in that club is missing, and all the other discoveries they would have been made.

Mary and Stack, obvious question is how they survived? Why didn’t they die? Were they stronger because they were together? How do they survive over the years? It seems in this version of the lore that vampirism is like a zombie infection and “turns” the person into a vampire very quickly (seen first hand when that vampire was turned by cornbread and took seemingly only minutes).

Those are the main things that I think about in the immediate aftermath of the movie (before post credits obviously) so I was wondering what you all think.

The NBA ‘media’ hit piece on Jaylen Brown is disgraceful.

Open caveat, not a Celtics fan nor a Jaylen Brown apologist.

Having said that, even blind Freddy can see how egregiously the traditional NBA media is putting out a hit piece on him and playing up the “analytics” angle. This is the same media that only a few months ago were all praises for the Celtics and Brown, confident about how they were the “best team in the east” and would roll confidently into the finals.

What changed? To my mind it’s two major factors:

  1. The NBA ‘media’ are a bunch of hacks that have become mouth pieces for the weenies in the front offices who nobody wants to hear from. The traditional media is making way for player podcasters and direct access to fans from the players. Brown on his twitch streams may have said some odd things, controversial things, but he was doing so directly, without the need to engage reporters to tell his story; and they can’t stand that.

  2. As alluded to in point one; brown is outspoken on the bias of the media. He has a point. It’s all about speculation; rumours, playing up the scoops and making up stories and drama to drum up fading interest. Traditional media pundits are struggling to find angles and apart from some amazing ones (like Pablo Torre) they’re all rehashing the same shit. And brown called them out.

So now every hit piece is making it appear like Jaylen Brown, the fucking darling of the media a mere few months ago, is a fucking washed up has been. What the hell?

Seriously, it’s disgraceful. It’s baffling. And it has made me lose a tonne of respect for a group of hacks that I already thought very little of.

I don’t care about Philly or Brown; but I hope they prove these media folk wrong.

Bonus complaint: this is no different to that hack Stephen A Smith trying to dap up Knicks players and act all happy when they won after years of shitting on them personally.

NBA players are understanding fast that they don’t need the media anymore and it shows.

[Windhorst] Today, the Boston Celtics are announcing to the world, "We ain't good enough to beat the Knicks." Not good enough to beat them last year, not good enough next year. The Boston Celtics are on the verge of cracking their Championship duo because they don't think they can beat the Knicks.

My Aussie broadband just stopped working today. Is there a major issue?

So today the internet just stopped. Either the modem is broken (net comm provided by Aussie broadband) or it’s something else entirely. Thinking of going out and buying a cheap modem to test if it is indeed the netcomm modem but thought I would ask here first.

Forget the chip - is this also one of the greatest meme teams in history?

We got Hart ‘finger up the ass’ at the Cup.

We got Mikal legendary IG live.

We got Sochan eating steak with shirt off.

We got Alvarado Puerto Rican parade.

We got OG ‘how to turn off the live’ + zoned out Today Show appearance.

We got ‘who let the dogs out’ Mike Brown.

We got Clarkson cigar poses.

What else? And we ain’t even had the parade yet!

The only antics I can think of coming close is Gasol wasted in Toronto and Rondo letting his son sip of his alcohol mid court in the bubble.

The Return - thoughts on this ahead of the new movie?

I recently rewatched the Return with Ralph Fiennes as Odysseus. I originally watched it when it was first released and found it a good movie albeit very different to what I was expecting.

On rewatch I was trying to see if there were any clues littered throughout the movie that may have alluded to the fantasy elements of Odysseus’s journey but it’s difficult to even consider it since this version of the story paints Odysseus as a broken soldier suffering from extreme PTSD rather than a man thwarted by the gods from returning home.

However, there are some clues that if interpreted correctly may be seen as interesting to me:

  1. The scene with Argos. It’s clear Argos had stayed alive beyond his years almost supernaturally, and the scene kind of alludes to this.

  2. The stringing of the bow and challenge. Whilst not obvious, it does seem to have a sense based on his pausing and deep thinking that Odysseus is potentially being guided by Athena here.

  3. At the end when Penelope asks him about the past he says “you do not want to know” and then he repeats “you cannot understand”. These two statements in the context of the interpretation can appear to mean that he is still dealing with the PTSD but it could also be interpreted as him saying “you wouldn’t believe the story”.

Final Bonus: it is alluded to by Telemachus that he heard a rumour that Odysseus had been living on an island with another woman, which is obviously Calypso, but it was weird to me because in the interpretation the fact it was a known thing and a known person it seems like there was nothing fantastical about it.

Anyway, I think The Return is a good movie and an interesting portrayal of Odysseus return to Ithaca. It will be interesting in the new film to see how they can weave similar themes (ie the PTSD elements of Odysseus and the crew) with the mythological elements of the story which I think I’m definitely excited to see portrayed in this film.

Happy to discuss further and keen for other peoples thoughts too!

Can anyone recommend their best set of historical custom leagues and draft classes? Looking to do some history redux leagues. Happy with 80s through 2010s leagues and draft classes to fill in the blanks.

I’m having the black screen issue that has been reported in the past. The PS5 worked and then I did an update and now it boots to the PS5 screen then blank. If I press the controller PS button it beeps and shows a little circle with a line through it in the top right of the tv. When I turn off the device it shows the “your PS5 is shutting down message” on the tv. Safe mode boots up fine but then when it boots normally nothing beyond the PS logo.

I have tried a bunch of fixes, changed HDMI, changed resolutions in safe mode to all available, and still same issue.

I have not tried a reset (normal nor the factory reset), is that the only option left? And will it solve the situation?

For those interested I think it’s worthwhile reading chapter 4 of the recently released social cohesion interim report.

https://asc.royalcommission.gov.au/system/files/2026-04/interim-report-ascrc.pdf

It explains something most probably had an inkling of but maybe never understood completely. And that is the concept of Community Security Groups or CSGs.

It appears Jewish/Zionist aligned CSGs have been increasingly active in surveillance and monitoring of people and share this “intelligence” with police in NSW, Victoria and other states. They are mostly ‘volunteer’ but now corporatised, meaning they’re a corporate entity so not subject to the same rules/laws as police; they’re basically a private security company.

What the report (to me at least) indicates is that these CSGs are going to be granted more access and more free rein on their operations. They’re going to control more areas in ‘collaboration’ with police on various days of their choosing based on events/areas they want to deem ‘security areas’.

What is truly eye opening to me is how utterly structured these CSGs appear to be, and where they could lead. It’s obvious that their goal is surveillance and intelligence gathering, along with security. So what now is stopping these CSGs from popping up all over the place? What restrictions are going to be placed on this model? Are we entering a phase where only Jewish CSGs are permitted and no other ‘community’ can have them? Will the Indian community establish CSGs? Will the Pakistani community? Or any community for that matter? Simply to monitor and surveil whoever they wish in the spirit of ‘social cohesion’?

This report is truly concerning, not so much because of what happened to the Jewish community, that’s tragic and horrific, but more so how it’s developed into a backdrop to a far more structured and intrusive security model that will be given more access and power than before.

If this whole concept of CSGs is simply to protect solely the Jewish community and nobody else is allowed to do this, then it’s a problem. If this model is now open to any and all community groups, it will be a disaster in waiting.

All in all, we fucked up. This isn’t about social cohesion, it’s about opening the door to foreign influence and interference of Australians by foreign aligned security groups masking as “community security groups” or CSGs.

I’m all for making communities safer, but this isn’t the way.
