WW1 and WW2 day tour / trips

Hi,

I’m based in Brussels. I’d like to visit some sites / museums related to WW1/WW2.

Do you have any recommendations for guided or self guided tours I could do?

I’ve found it difficult to find many guided day tours listed (as they all seem to be big group ones) and likewise I’m unsure of what I could do that would get the most if self guided (eg accessible by train/bus and has a few things to visit).

Thank you.

Disclosure Day disappointment

Was very excited for this movie from the trailer.

I’m a huge Spielberg fan but this felt closer to his film AI in quality and that movie atleast had more to it. In general bar some moments it didn’t even feel like one of his movies.

The pacing and story felt quite rushed. It genuinely felt more like a series of moments than a true narrative. The closest comparison I can make is that first suicide squad film where things are just sliced in.

Nothing felt very developed. You’re somewhat thrown in to the middle of an existing plot where everything is incredibly condescend.

The great reviews I’m honestly astonished by. I can kind of see why some may enjoy the film but over all I just couldn’t personally get into this movie.

The acting was largely good. I like a lot of the camera work. But in its entirety it was a mediocre film in my own opinion.

Any collection, omnibus etc to start with?

I’m a bit lost where to start with Blade. Always loved the movie and want to check out the comics.

For longer running characters like Blade it can be difficult knowing where to start. I’m not sure if going my release date with the older material will work for me either. Any stand out books or collections that could help me ease me into his main or best story lines?

New neighbours moved in and are complaining about normal walking noise

I live in an apartment building with poor sound insulation between floors. It’s a 60s building so actually not the worst! You can hear talking & tv when it’s very loud only while steps seem to echo through the floor. It’s much quieter than previous places I’ve lived in so I’ve not taken much notice.

Tonight new neighbours from the apartment below came to our door to complain that we were “stomping” loudly when walking around our apartment.

I spoke to them and explained that we were just walking normally. At the time I wasn’t even wearing shoes, so I found it hard to understand how they believed we were intentionally stomping the way they demonstrated. I also explained that the building has significant noise transfer issues. We regularly hear footsteps from the apartment above us, along with TV/radio noise, and it seems to be a general feature of the building rather than one specific neighbour being unusually loud. I explained I’m hearing all sorts of noise from the apartment above from steps to tv.

My impression is that they may not yet realise how much sound travels through the building because they have only recently moved in. The building looks more modern than it is. I can understand why they are upset as they just bought the place but quite frankly they should have examined this aspect before moving in.

One seemed to accept this while the other didn’t. They dramatically stomped in front of me and I actually had to demonstrate how I walked.

After they left, I could actually hear them arguing in their apartment below. I could actually hear the angry one stomping multiple times dramatically again as they argued as if that’s how we walk up here ( which is ironic because it was so loud it transferred up which showcases how much they think we are stomping)

Has anyone dealt with a situation like this? Is there anything I should do proactively, or is this simply a case of new neighbours adjusting to the reality of living in an older/noisy apartment building? Based on how the angry one reacted Im fearful that this will become a re-accruing issue.

Another explosion thread.

10 am

Seemed to be in the North East of the city.

A lot of car alarms went off afterwards and now a helicopter and sirens heading in that direction.

Many battles were fought on this one.

Some between towns, and in some cases between schools.

Often you’d only learn the difference when you visited a cousin or went to Irish college and got a rake of abuse.

Depending on who you were with, your would either be in the slagging mob or the one being abused.
