Some advice needed! My best friend is getting married in September and the bridal party is doing the something old/new/borrowed/blue. As the MOH I'm giving the something old and I'm stumped for what to give. I was thinking a little locket with an old picture of us from when we were 21 (we're now early 40s) with a little message engraved on the locket....but is that weird? To give her, on her wedding day, a locket of us? Any suggestions? Thank you!
Look at my sweet baby angel. She brings me so much happiness. She is the sweetest girl 🩷
I'm going to preface this by saying this post is to cover my personal opinion and my personal experience with Dr Levin. This will be long.
First 3 pictures are all before surgery, the rest are after surgery, these are my results from a lower blepharoplasty that I had 1 year ago with Dr Flora Levin in CT. To say I'm devastated with my results would be an understatement. It's extremely hard for me to post these pictures. I spent close to $16,000 to end up with results that have destroyed my confidence. I never had eye bags, but I went to Dr Levin after I had a terrible outcome with hylaronidaise to dissolve old filler (neither the filler nor initial dissolver was performed by her). The dissolver hollowed out my tear troughs in an instant, uncovering bags that I never had even prior to filler. I think the injector either used hylaronidaise mixed with something, or she used far too much. Either way, I couldn't believe the way I looked and was desperate to get it fixed. Being desperate for a fix was my first mistake.
I found Dr. Levin through a Google search and she was my one and only consult, this was my 2nd mistake. I should have consulted with more doctors. My consult was quick, all of maybe 10 minutes, and my interaction with her felt cold. But I figured if she's the "eyelid expert" then I don't need warm and fuzzy, I just need great results. The day of my surgery wasn't smooth either. My mom and I were waiting nearly 2 hours past my scheduled surgery time in the waiting room. When I was finally brought back, there were a few pictures taken and then was more waiting. When Dr Levin finally came in to do my markings and she looks at me and says "what bags??" insinuating that she didn't know why she was performing surgery on me. I was shocked but just laughed and said oh I must be having a good day. Mind you, I allowed Dr Levin to video tape my process/surgery for a training she was doing, so this was said in front of the guy that would be recording. She waves it off and he starts recording and she starts by telling the camera about me as the patient, as she was telling the camera my age she forgets and looks at me and says "how old are you?". It was almost as though she didn't know who she was performing surgery on or why. I felt about 2 feet tall after this. I should have walked out at this point, but I didn't. After surgery, it felt like they couldn't get me out of there fast enough. The nurses who wanted to leave for the day rolled me out to my mom's car with their purses and bags so they could get in their cars and leave. It all felt so rushed, so impersonal.
I knew my results weren't great shortly after surgery. I tried to trust the process, but as the swelling went down my true results were starting to show, and things just got worse and worse as the weeks went on. I'm left with very strange/irregular contours, lumps of fat, hollowness, my lower lids pull away from my eyeballs which has caused my eyes to be so dry I almost can't were contacts at times. I had severe pain in my left eye for months that is just now subsiding. The pain literally kept me up at night. I can hardly look in the mirror anymore. At my last follow-up appointment Dr Levin told me "you look great". I tried to express some of my concerns but she kept saying she didn't see what I was talking about. I knew right then I wouldn't continue seeing her after that interaction and I haven't seen her since.. My friends, family, hair dresser, my injector, no one can believe that this was done to me. They all ask me how can someone who's supposed to be an expert do this, and I honestly dont have an answer for them. I don't even get the obligatory "no one will even notice" or "you're still beautiful", all they can say is "I'm so sorry this happened to you". Even my injector, who considered going to Dr Levin for an upper blepharoplasty, saw my results and she said after seeing me she's no longer considering her for a surgeon. I know my injector doesn't mean any harm, but it hurts to know that my results are that bad.
I needed to get this all off my chest. Thank you to anyone who's read this. I've lived the past year feeling deformed. I hardly go out. I cancel plans. I'm single but dating is absolutely out of the question. I feel hideous. I will say that I have since found a surgeon to perform a revision. My experience with my new surgeon is truly night and day from my experience with Dr Levin. My consult with him was almost an hour, he sat with me, listened to my concerns, let me cry, looked at my pictures (which Dr Levin absolutely would not do), analyzed my face and skin and has come up with a plan suited for me. Not some cookie cutter surgery that everyone who walks through the door gets. I'm terrified to have another surgery, but I can't live like this. And while I understand that people have had great experiences with Dr. Levin, that is far from my experience and my truth.
