Note, I love the Allman Bros early stuff, but everytime I hear the song lyrics I cringe into the fetal position. Song is about a hoss trying to bag a shiela and likely one half his age, but probably at an Applebees at 4pm cuz hoss gotta be in bed by 7pm to watch Vanna White. By far the pinnacle of boomer bar culture where men used to use a mixture passive aggressiveness, date rapeyness, conservativism, whineyness, machismo, and confusing mixed messaging. I dare you to read the lyrics, you wont find no clean fun, but rather need to take a shower in bleach to wash the toxic masculinity and HIV out of ye eyes.
What do you think? For me it’s Lou Reed by a mile. His talk singing, incoherent lyrics, and zero musician skills led to none of records ever going platinum. Plus he is responsible for two of the WORST albums ever made: Metal Machine Sounds and Lulu. Oh he influenced punk you say? Punk sucks balls - a bunch of no talent dbags.
