Do you think the lack of a viral hit was the biggest factor that made Mitski’s new album, Nothings About to Happen to Me go totally under the radar?

So, you might know, this year, Mitski released her new album, Nothing’s About to Happen to Me. it’s lead single, Where‘s my Phone? pretty much flopped, same for its next two singles. While yes, when the album dropped, major reviewing companies reviewed the album, though it didn’t get much attention that much outside of her fanbase, actually it seemed like people were still listening to my love mine all mine 😭

what was different for The Land is Inhospitable andd So Are We is it had my love, which was a big viral hit. Even its predecessor, Laurel Hell, had a few things on TikTok.maybe it’s something else. what do you guys think?

I feel like American Life II would be an interesting one. I wonder what political statements she could make today

The Maroon 5 one is obvious. Most praise goes to Songs About Jane and occasionally IWBSBL. I’ve been on the Björk Reddit community for a while and I know some Björk fans IRL and most of them seem only listen to Debut, Post, Homogenic and Vespertine (which is sad because she has really good works after those). Also Sabrina Carpenter, where her past three works are much different than her first four albums, which lots of fans forget about.
