Limescaled Toilet Solution!

Bloody Reading and its water made from chalk... toilet takes about a minute and a half to be completely coated in a dingy millimetre-thick coating of limescale. I despaired... the toilet cleaners, even the anti-limescale ones, were just not cutting it.

Brainwave! Solution! A kettle full of boiling water into the toilet, then two kettle-descaler tabs. Much fizzing! A little brush and BOOM, I can see porcelain again. Why did I not think of this before?

Am I missing any other hacks from hardwater-habituated denizens? I'm from a place in Canada with very sweet water, just not used to this.

Postcodes

Quick post on a bonkers frustrating quirk: I live in the UK but visiting home in Canada. Trying to buy a checked bag for the flight back. Need to pay for the bag. Try to put in my UK credit info: the website does not accept a UK postcode (LLNN NLL pattern). I simply can't pay because I can't enter a post code without computer-saying-no. (side frustration: on the website it says "zip code"... I thought this was a Canadian company)

Surely the system is not so poorly designed that _overseas_ travellers can't enter _overseas_ card info? Grrr.

What laptop and software are needed for Uni?

Eldest daughter heading for a Physics degree this autumn, Durham or York likely. Do I need to kit her up with anything special in terms of laptop or desktop, either with or fit-for any software? Or is any old machine from Curries/wherever sufficient?

Lost Dinosaur

Spotted this fellow lost in Prospect Park, at the skate ramp. No collar. I think it's a t-rex but I'm not good with theropod breeds and it might be an albertosaurus. I was worried he might run onto Bath Road so I ushered him up towards the Mansion House. He looked hungry.
