This sub has made me realise Mensa is a scam and that IQ tests do not define “Intelligence” the way society/the average person defines it
Before all of you comment, yes, I achieved an average IQ of above 138 in an in person Aptitude/ IQ test using the Wechsler scale, I was forced to do it, not out of choice.
What I’ve realised after spending some time in this sub and Mensa in general, is that it’s just a circle jerk of people thinking they are somehow above the average person because of an exam they took. Most of you have awful written reasoning, seem pretty disconnected from how the average human ticks and how the world works. I’m by no means saying I’m a genius either. I don’t think any human is.
However, Mensa and this sub specifically is just filled with a constant ramble of looking down upon others and then sucking eachother off about how smart you all think you are. 95% of you seem absolutely insufferable to be around.
I pity anyone who is just … the fact people pay money to be part of this circle jerk club proves everything I need to know 🤣
Day 28 no weed - awful dreams
had an absolutely awful dream today.
Since stopping I’ve had some insane dreams:
- stabbed, tried to call an ambulance and they just kept hanging up the phone on me for what felt like a week
- car crash with my father in the car which ended me up in a foreign prison surrounded by people who want to kill me
- some weird hunger games thing where everyone died (did get to smash tho)
- lots of heights where I’m about to fall off but don’t
The worst was today tho:
not even scary just depressing, saw people I haven’t seen in years including my ex gf and loved ones who passed away, got to speak to them and was happy, then when I woke up and realised it was all a dream, i just cried for 10 mins
Apart from the absolutely either terrifying or depressing dreams, stopping has been pretty easy.
The only time I crave weed is late at night when I’m bored but I just switch on a game to take my mind off things, or when I’m about to eat, I crave it 5 mins before then, but I can tell it’s a ritualistic thing. I have been doing way more Zyn than I used to to curb the desire.
All in all, the benefits of quitting are yet to be felt tbh, but I know how proud my old self would be of me rn. That’s what’s keeping me going.
Needed to vent somewhere, peace ✌️
I wasn’t gonna do this raid 😭 and then I realised I had a spare remote raid pass
This is my first ever shundo, my second ever hundo, and my second ever mewtwo 😭 I missed the start of the event and I didn’t think he was coming back for raids. Insane.
MY FIRST RAID IN A MONTH, wasn’t even gonna do it 😭
I can’t believe it, I was so sad I missed the mega mewtwo event, then I got a notification they were back in raids and realised I had a remote raid pass. This is my first ever shundo too…
Day 8 no weed, I can’t believe I’m doing it.
I genuinely have no desire to smoke now. I hung out with my friends yesterday, and one of them smoked a fat joint. (Only one of my friends smokes).
I somehow just had the willpower to watch him smoke the J to the bone and I had 0 desire to even take a hit. I can’t believe it.
I’ve been so much more productive too.
Day 4 of quitting since smoking every day for 7 years. Tbh I feel no withdrawals I’m surprised.
The only reason I quit is cos a family member threw away my stash and I couldn’t find a plug. I feel like the universe gave me an opportunity and I’ve taken it. I was really worried about withdrawals like sleep and food but tbh it has been ok, I think it’s mental and also has to do with just getting dopamine from other sources.
I was very worried about not sleeping eating and bad dreams. But I slept like a baby yesterday after staying up the day before. I’ve eaten a decent amount too. I had a very vivid dream but thankfully I forgot it the moment I woke up so couldn’t have been that bad XD.
I’ve just been to the gym for the first time in 3 months and I feel great.
I know there will be bad days where temptation creeps in, but what I’ve realised is if you don’t have any, it’s so much less daunting than having one joint left and knowing ur about to run out.
I’m quitting right now. Been smoking since 13.
Due to unforeseen circumstances I won’t have any weed tonight. It’s the first time I haven’t had a joint to smoke in 9 years. And you know what. I’m just so done. I’m done with all the shit it’s caused me. The life I’ve wasted in my room these past years.
I tried quitting once when I was 17 and I couldn’t eat or sleep for a week.
If anyone reads this, I’d love to talk if you have quit and how it will look. And maybe speak over the days so I can vent to someone as no one knows im addicted.
Anywhere I can watch the semi final today for one person in town? No entry fee
Just looking for a pub in the Center that shows the footy tonight w no entry fee. By myself !
Div 20 player since UFC 2, 4K hours, HONEST REVIEW OF THE BETA
I want to give an unbiased and honest review of the beta, as a long lasting and high level EA UFC player, who is also a huge fan of combat sports, MMA, and the UFC. 99% of the reviews I’m seeing on Instagram, X or on here are people who haven’t played the game and are repeating what they’ve seen someone else say on twitter.
BIGGEST CHANGES WE ASKED FOR, going from most to least requested:
New character models - achieved, they look great let’s be real.
Individualistic fighters - achieved, fantastic job, pereira feels awesome, and actually like pereira!
Grappling overhaul- not achieved, they haven’t changed the overall system, but have added new transition animations, more positions and punch opportunities. As a BJJ purple belt myself I appreciate this.
More game modes and career: achieved, yet to be properly shown but look promising.
More realistic striking: achieved, hate to say it, but taking turns pulling hooks like 3,4 and 5, slipping every second uppercut for 25 mins isn’t MMA. The game is actually starting to feel like a reflection of an MMA fight. Footwork and Defense is rewarded, not head movement and eating 2 shots to throw 3.
Overall, out of the 5 biggest changes we asked for, they achieved 4 of them, and did a decent job at rounding out the grappling system. I don’t mind the grappling, but clearly people dislike it. I think the issue is, no matter how they design it, people just want be drawn to grappling because it is by nature more boring.
In MMA, grappling consists of stalling, weighting to pass guard or setup a submission. It’s not 5 elbows from full guard and then throwing up a banana split. Most people will complain about the grappling no matter what because, grappling just is slower and less risky than striking by nature.
Overall, I’m very happy and hopeful with the changes as a guy who plays this game every day after work and hasn’t missed a fight night since Cormier vs Miocic, (yes even the apex cards). We need to remember this is a BETA.
Things that we can all agree needs changing:
The Flow state visual, needs to change. I don’t mind flow state, in fact, I think it’s a fun additive that makes the fighters feel more individual. People dislike it because it’s new. We can all agree however the orange musty thing that hovers around the fighter needs to go. I don’t mind the black and white filter. If you don’t like the black and white filter, just like rocked moments, you should be able to toggle it off in the settings.
I think a good solution to most of peoples anger, simply make a toggle setting so people can chose how they want to enjoy the game, flowstate visuals on, flowstate visuals off.
Same goes for the HUD, EA can fix the complaints of the hud being clunky by giving the player the option to chose what their HUD looks like, this is their game after all.
As a high level player I prefer being able to see all of my health points clearly, instead of the small bars that pop in and out we see in 5. Once again, just give us the option to toggle/ change the size of it.
The sweat splatters and navy blue background needs to go. Whoever thought of this. Just why ? The red backdrop for the Tmboile Arena with the lights on the menu looks AMAZING ! So why has EA decided to make it as ugly und unrealistic as possible ? The Navy Blue is horrible and the lighting is way too dark. As someone who has sat front row for PPV cards, I can’t tell you right now the octagon and its fighters are the most well lit thing on television. Make it way brighter and get rid of the ugly ahh navy hue and shadows. If you wanna hide the crowd replace it with stage lights or phone lights or just black like it is in real life when they shut the lights off.
That’s all I have for DAY 2 of the BETA. I hope someone from EA sees this and actually makes change.
I am really enjoying this beta and so are a lot of others. I’m hard pressed to see why people are complaining.
The characters feel way more individual, pereira actually feels like pereira. We asked for this for so long, we got it, now everyone’s pretending like it’s not here.
Slipping punches is more realistic and parrying is finally back. It’s not a ridiculous chess game of who can slip a hook faster. If you want a game like that play street fighter, this is an MMA game and it actually is starting to mirror an MMA fight.
The characters look more realistic, the butterfly guard on the cage makes the grappling way more complete. We have new calf kicks. I genuinely can’t see why people are complaining unless they are bored. The HUD needs changing but that’s the whole point of the BETA, this isn’t the final version. The flow state is strange but honestly it works especially with pereira, if they give an option to turn it off I think that’s all we need. I genuinely see improvements in every aspect compared to 5 yet people will complain for what ?
The menus look sick, the gameplay feels more like an actual mma fight akin to undisputed, we have a better health system, calf kicks, better grappling, individualistic fighters, way more upcoming game modes, yet we cry over what ? The beta being janky ?
