Purchased this piece at an Estate Sale but information was not available about the Tribe or an estimated date.

The fourth pic shows a penciled in "Yakima" which may be an indication of the tribal origin of this bag. Google lens suggested it was produced by a member of one of the tribes of the Columbia Plateau, of which THE CONFEDERATED TRIBES AND BANDS OF THE YAKAMA NATION belong. The piece feels old, the leather is soft and the stitching is mostly intact. The beadwork is very tight with only one spot that looks to have been injured. Any insight into the age and the tribal affiliation of the artist would be greatly appreciated.

Which would you select if you were a 14 y. O. Gifted with the choice of One?

These are guitars purchased several years ago and I’m not playing them as I was, so figured my great nephew who is 14 might want one. Which would you select? Ya can’t have em both!

Folio by Kurt Boeck from 1894

I’ve always been fascinated with majestic mountains and the idea of climbing them. As a youngster our family would travel through Northern California past the towering Mt. Shasta and then in north through Oregon on the east side of the Cascades past the many volcanic peaks that make up the skyline to the west. The Himalayas were of special interest due to the exploits of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzung Norgay who were the first to summit Everest in the year 1953. Several years ago I found this album and bought it from a dealer specializing in mountaineering texts. It needs a bit of care but all 20 of the plates are present and the images are in good condition.

A Gift from an Old Friend from Grad School

It’s simply amazing the things one finds that were available to the reading public over 120 years ago.

Christopher Paolini Collection

This group is mostly F/F and many are signed no. Only one of the Paolini International volumes has been signed. The unsigned copy is in a little better condition than the signed volume. Notably unsigned copies are more difficult to find than signed copies. The Knopf Eragons are first printings of the initial edition and a first printing of the Deluxe version. I believe it is the 24th printing. Not sure why I ended up with two Murtagh F/Fs but there you have it. And I think my favorite of the bunch is To Sleep in a Sea of Stars.

Christopher Paolini Collection

The two original F/Fs were purchased in ‘02-03. One I’m pretty sure was bought online (the signed copy) and the other was on the shelf at a Half-Priced Books in San Antonio. The cases were made by Starr Bookworks of Spartanburg, SC.

The Oldest book in my collection

The title is: The History of the Church of Scotland. The author was Reverend Prelate John Spotswood. The book was published in 1668 CE and is the Third Edition Corrected and Amended. The covers are detatched but present. The spine is worn yet intact. The text block appears to be complete.
This was gifted to me by a resident of our small coastal community who had recently donated her husband’s library to the Friends of the Library here.
My intent is to repair and conserve this volume. It is a very nice book; a lovely gift indeed.

A Small Collection of Tony Hillerman books.

Most are First/Firsts and some are signed. Many were acquired on our annual trip to Spring Training Baseball in the Phoenix metro area. A wonderful bookstore in Scottsdale, The Poisoned Pen, is a great place to visit when not attending a Cactus League game.

A rare small Tennyson from 1933

It’s one of 25 copies printed, according to the last page of text. Published by the Pelican Press of Klamath Falls, Oregon. There appears to be very little information about Pelican Press, however I have not abandoned the search just yet. It was found at a thrift store in Eugene on Memorial Day.

Recently purchased. Dated 1933.

Found no information on the Internet about the publishers or about this book. I searched Oregon book publishers in 1933, Pelican Press Klamath Falls, and the names of the two printers mentioned. Not sure where to look further. Any ideas would be most welcomed.

This copy is from 1823 and was published in London by John Murray. I noticed this book in a bin of discards at a Goodwill warehouse in Southern California a few years ago. It had no covers, but the fore edges were lavishly gilt and demanded a quick look. So I purchased this derelict and found out that this was a splendid old translation, one of the first English translations of Faust. I had it rebound by Starr Bookworks, who then were in Arizona. Now they are in Spartanburg, SC. The finished product is quite the work of art. They have resurrected several old finds for me over the years and I’ll post more in the near future.

Found this at a local thrift store. Didn’t realize that the inscription on the ffep was by the author until I got it home and was able to do some research on the author. But I have not yet found out who Bernie was. Perhaps someone who reads this post might know?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
