As someone from the Balkans, with relatives in Greece, I was pretty happy to see a popular director's take on the story of Homer, the Oddyssey. It was a story most of us in Europe (and some even in the US) grew up reading. But then I realized there was not a single Greek person in its cast. The armors and props were all over the place and Helen is now played by Lupita.

Of course, a lot of people could argue that an irish/englishman playing a Greek is just as different as a Kenyan/Mexican Lady, but... it really isn't. Phenotypically African people are way different than Europeans. Yes, a nordic person would be closer, biologically, to a greek than an African person would. There isn't something racist about saying that because it is true objectivelly. And I am a left-leaning person politically, but we should not feel like walking on a mine field every time we talk about sensitive topics. Saying Matt Damon playing a Greek is just as bad as Lupita/Travis Scott is intelectually dishonest to say the least.

What is the most hurtful is that Americans and Western Europeans (sometimes) are very hypocritical in these matters. They would say race is a social construct, but then call a "white-passing" person white and privileged in a matter of seconds, despite that person possibly coming from Eastern Europe and living in poverty and being treated with xenophobia by "fellow whites" in the West. So it seems race is a social construct only when it helps their narrative. Not to mention the whole debate about ancient Greeks/Roman/Norse "races" and how some people try to say they were POC. Yes, back then and even nowadays in Europe, we don't differentiate ourselves based on skin color, but rather based on ethnicity. We are not white or black. We are polish, german, italian, greek, romanian, hungarian, irish. But then again, phenotypically we would be labeled as "white" if you want us to narrow it down to those labels. Both now and in ancient history.

And yes, the Oddyssey is fiction after all, but it is a piece of literature of a high cultural importance. I would call it insulting for a take on an African story to be done with white people. Gods of Egypt, I am looking at you. But even if it is purely fictional, like Black Panther's story in Wakanda, that is still important as it is a story about African culture despite it being set in a fictional country with fictional characters. I think Lupita was hypocritical enough to call the Oddyssey "just a story" when some time ago she talked about the importance of accuracy in a story set in Wakanda.

I guess I am mostly against the hypocrisy. About "rules for thee, but not for me". I would actually like to throw the subject of culturaly appropriation to the trash if we would all come together, enjoy each other's cultures (while respecting them) and stop being hypocritical. But if it comes down to "it is fine when I do it because X, Y and Z", it just becomes hypocritical.

I thought he is and just not fully transformed. His lore from Arcane lining up with the League one, the lines in-game towards Vi and Jinx, the obvious werewolf transformation in Arcane… yet I still saw a few reddit posts from 1 year ago questioning it. It is true that Arcane did not fully transform his face yet, but maybe it is a matter of time? Though Google’s AI says that the creators of the show deliberately did that so he can show more emotions.

Why are they not releasing as many original skins anymore?

Don’t get me wrong, I like the collabs, but the original skins barely come out anymore.

And the original skins are mostly girl skins that look awesome, don’t get me wrong, but some cool male ones would also be great. Usually male skins are just furries or memes. I guess Wolfe was the most recent badass looking original guy skin, but dude was borderline furry too.

I don’t know, I personally wish for some edgy dude with horns or something. Maybe also some more lowkey guys with some drippy outfits too, but not too basic.

Am I asking for too much? 🙏😭

Seriously. On any post, most of them are people who hate DD and are infesting the comments with their cringy takes and downvotes.
We don’t want this sub to be an echo chamber either, but at this point it’s mostly support crybabies who are happy that they are one step closer to heal-botting without worrying about their surroundings and position. They just wanna keep left-clicking and zoning out. 🤤

Sure, we are cornballs sometimes, but it is our coping mechanism with the amount of ass beating the devs are doing to us.

I am a Daredevil main, level 61 Champion. Huge fan of the character. Cosplayed him, watched his shows, read comics, and also religious. Not blind or a lawyer tho haha.

But seriously, I was thinking the other day that I should be less immature about fighting other DDs. Partly because it backfired on me and it was a wake up call.

Since recently, I was all about wanting to duel and prove to them that I am the best and be so quick to write “DD diff”, but now I realized that I also have bad games and sometimes the other DD wins the fight and is toxic towards me. It’s funny to do banter and tease each other, but I realized that I was also toxic in that department and potentially discourage other players playing him the same way I felt discouraged during my losses. It is a game and a character we love, so no one should feel like they’re not good enough. We all learn. We all have bad days.

This character is built for 1v1s but I feel like I should be more welcoming to any DDs I face and maybe we can all start doing that. To show the community that we’re not just some toxic gatekeepers and that we’re smart and mature, just like our goat, Matt Murdock.

Thus, I am starting the #DiffNoMore movement.

P.S: It is a competitive multiplayer game and of course some friendly banter and teasing will and should happen, but maybe we can all stop with the “DD diff” and separate ourselves from those who act like that. This way, we’ll see who is actually from here and cares and who doesn’t. Guess it’s kind of a gatekeeping now as well, but a positive one lol
