After 5 years of solo dev (AdMob, listings, etc.), I’m finally diving deep into ASO. Looking for advice on data analysis + keyword placement, and created a free tool to help!

Hey everyone,

I’ve been developing mobile apps for the last 5 years. Over this time, I’ve learned a ton about the overall development process, setting up store listings, implementing AdMob, and experimenting with different growth strategies. However, there is one major area I’ve neglected for too long, and I’m finally ready to tackle it: App Store Optimization (ASO).

As a relative newcomer to serious ASO, I’m trying to wrap my head around the best workflows and would love to get your insights on a few specific things:

  1. Analyzing Dashboard Data: When you look at App Store Connect or Google Play Console, which specific metrics do you focus on to measure ASO success? How do you separate organic keyword growth from other traffic sources?
  2. Keyword Research: What is your process for discovering high-volume but low-competition keywords? How do you decide which ones are actually worth targeting?
  3. Keyword Placement: Once you have your target keywords, what is your strategy for placing them across the different text fields (Title, Subtitle/Short Description, Keyword Field, Long Description)? How do you balance algorithmic optimization with writing copy that humans actually want to read?

To help myself learn the ropes and automate some of the manual work, I actually built a completely free tool for iOS ASO: aso-tool.andreashadjimama.workers.dev.

I set this up strictly based on the ASO knowledge I've gathered so far, and I am not trying to promote anything or sell a service. I mostly want to validate if the logic behind it actually makes sense to experienced folks. If anyone has a few minutes to check it out, I would incredibly appreciate your honest feedback on whether it’s genuinely useful or what features I should add/change to make it better.

Looking forward to hearing your tips, strategies, and any feedback you might have. Let’s get a discussion going!

Is reaching $1,000/month as an indie app dev actually that unrealistic?

Hey everyone,

I recently read some industry data that really made me think, and I wanted to open a discussion to see how other developers feel about it.

According to reports (like RevenueCat's state of the market), the median monthly revenue for a mobile app is less than $50, and only about 17% to 19% of apps ever cross the $1,000/month mark.

Honestly, seeing these numbers hits hard. As an indie developer who has been trying to build a sustainable income from mobile apps for the past 4 years, I am currently making around $70/month.

Before seeing these statistics, I always thought $1,000/month was a pretty realistic and achievable goal. Now, it feels a lot more intimidating.

I’d love to hear your opinions:

  • Is it really that difficult to reach $1,000/month, or do these stats just include a lot of abandoned/hobby projects?
  • For those of you who have broken past the $1k/month milestone, what made the biggest difference for you?
  • If you are also in the same boat as me, how do you stay motivated?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences!

NEW High Score 🚀🥳🎉

Last month I made some improvements to my app and paid off. This is a boost to keep going and improving AdMob implementation to your apps.
Even though my show rate dropped dramatically which I have to look into it my revenue almost doubled from last month.

I got sick of AdMob's clunky dashboard, so I built an AI-powered Report Analyzer to find revenue bottlenecks.

Like many mobile developers here, I rely on AdMob to monetize my indie apps. However, I’ve always found Google's default reporting UI incredibly painful to navigate when trying to track complex metrics like format performance, show-rate drops, and regional eCPMs.

After spending too much time digging through rows of CSV data just to figure out why my native ads were underperforming, I decided to build a solution: **AdMob Report Analyzer** (web.app).

**How it works right now:**

* **Free Dashboard Visualizer**: You upload your raw AdMob CSV report export, and it instantly turns the data into clean, readable charts on a single screen for free.
* **Subscription-based AI Monetization Feedback**: If you want automated auditing, I built a monthly/yearly premium tier where an AI analyzes your exact metrics to flag where you are losing money. (For example, it helped me realize a 66% show rate on my native ads was leaking a third of my revenue).

I'm trying to make this as useful as possible for solo creators. If you use AdMob, I’d love for you to try out the free dashboard and give me some brutal feedback on the UX.

What monetization features or metrics should I make sure to include in the visualizer next?

Is killing Banners and Native ads the secret to fixing a low Show Rate?

Hey guys, just looking at my final numbers from last month and noticed a pretty annoying bottleneck.

My overall Show Rate is sitting at a low 66% (screenshot attached). After digging into the formats, the main culprits are definitely my banners and native ads. AdMob is matching them just fine, but users are either scrolling past or leaving the screen too fast before they actually show up.

Since AdMob prefers accounts with healthy overall metrics, I’m worried this 66% show rate is dragging down my account health and hurting my eCPMs on other formats.

Is it even worth keeping banners and native ads for a few extra pennies? Or should I just cut them completely to save my show rate? Would love to hear what you guys think!

iOS Kids Flutter project got rejected

Guideline 1.3 - Safety - Kids Category

Issue Description

We noticed that your Kids Category app includes analytics, advertising and collects, transmits, or has the ability to share personal information or device information with third parties. Specifically:

- The app includes third-party analytics or third-party advertising with the ability to collect, transmit or share identifiable information, including, for example, name, address, date of birth, email, location, Device Name, and IDFA. We found that your app references the ASIdentifierManager API, which provides access to a user's IDFA, in the following location(s) in your binary:

• /System/Library/Frameworks/AdSupport.framework/AdSupport
• Runner

It would be appropriate to remove all instances of “ASIdentifierManager” from your app, even if they are not utilized in your app's functionality.

In my project I am using AdMob and I really need your help on how AdMob should be implemented to be approved in Kids Category

Finally found a way to listen local radio on my morning commute (Android Auto / CarPlay update)

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to share a quick update on a side project I’ve been working on for the local community called Cyprus Media Hub.

I previously built this app to stream Cyprus TV and radio stations. A lot of you asked for in-car support, so I finally got around to implementing Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.

You can now access your customized Favorites list directly from your car dashboard screen. It makes switching between local stations while driving much easier and safer without touching your phone.

I have attached screenshots of what the new Android Auto and CarPlay interfaces look like below.

The app is completely free. If you want to try it out on your drive to work, you can find the download links below.

Would love to hear your feedback or any requests for missing local stations!

App stuck “In Review” for 9 days – should I be worried?

Hey everyone, I submitted my app for review 9 days ago and the status hasn't changed. This is the first time this has happened to me—usually, it's much faster.
Is a 9+ day wait normal lately, or could there be a specific issue holding it up? I haven't received any emails or requests for more info. Should I keep waiting, or is it time to reach out to support for an update? If so, what's the best way to get a real response?
Appreciate any advice!

Hey everyone,

For the past 4yrs I use AdMob to earn some revenue from my mobile apps. I have made some progress in terms of money those 4yrs but every time I try to check my monthly report from the dashboard I feel like I can’t get the information I want from it. Any guidance or suggestions to help me understand how things are going?

Hey everyone

I’m curious how other indie devs analyze their AdMob results from the dashboard.

Personally, I often feel like the AdMob dashboard gives data, but not always answers—especially when revenue or eCPM changes and I’m trying to understand why.

Some questions I’d genuinely love input on:

Do you export AdMob reports to Excel/CSV?

If yes, what do you usually analyze (countries, ad units, trends, etc.)?

What’s the most frustrating or time‑consuming part of understanding AdMob performance?

Not selling anything—just trying to understand how others deal with this and whether it’s a real pain point or just me.

Thanks 🙏
