Moving Help

I'm moving 1100 miles away & I'm struggling to figure out moving some of my larger plants. My rubber tree, philodendron, palm tree variety, & snake plant are all too tall to fit into my SUV & I'm not sure if I have enough space to pack even mid-sized plants in their pots. I've had most of these plants for years, decades even in some instances, and they'll be able to be outdoors in my new place.

Most of our household items are being professionally shipped & going into storage for a few weeks so that's not an option. Maybe I could take them out of their pots, wrap their roots, & lay them down in the back of my car. Then dump the excess soil from their pots & then pack the pots to go with the rest of our stuff into storage.

Am I overthinking this? Should I just put them on Craigslist & sell them?

Does anyone have any other suggestions/ideas?

Thrift Store Finds

I came across these today. The end table/nightstand is Skovby teak. It's HEAVY for its size.

The yellow coffee table is more of a mystery. I'm pretty sure the paint isn't original because there's wood grain peeking through the paint on the underside of the table. There are no other markings I was able to find. The closest tables I've seen using Google lens are Ekornes but they're not quite a match. If anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.

Rainbow Manicure

I'm currently in the middle of packing my house but I took some time for myself & did another Pride manicure. They're so bright & happy.

Moving Discovery

A few months ago I found the white hen going through my basement & organizing.

Today, I'm packing up for a move & I found the green hen. My grandma passed these along to me decades ago & I thought I'd lost the green hen.

Ceramic Bowl/Planter ID

I thrifted this bowl & elephant planter yesterday.

I wasn't looking too closely at either one in the store, but when I got home & cleaned them up the bowl's colors & texture became more noticeable. Then I noticed the maker's mark on the inside of the bowl. The base of the bowl is funky too. The bowl is a deep green brown & in the deepest carved areas the glaze is a bright teal green.

Anyhoodle, I'm not having much luck finding anything online about the bowl but I just wanted to see if anyone else would have more success. I live between 2 cities that have large art communities so I suspect this is locally made.

The Basics

Finding useful & basic items in great condition for a song is satisfying. I typically find these types of glass measuring cups with their markings rubbed off & with chips in various places & don't buy them. I had no idea Anchor Hocking made these.

Surprise Beautiful Moth

A while back I found a cocoon underneath my oak tree & shared pics here. Today my kid was weeding near the tree & found this beauty near the same cocoon.

It had been so long we'd both figured the moth had hatched long ago & had a great moth life.

Vintage Brahmin?

I came across this little friend at a garage sale & picked it up. I've come across Brahmins before but don't recall seeing medallions on them. I'm gonna clean it up a bit & see how it works for me.

Wild Yard Bunny

This wild bun has decided our suburban backyard is her home. She's very polite & seems to only eat our grass which is ok by me. I have absolutely never seen a wild bun be so relaxed. I took these pics while my kid & I were eating lunch maybe about 10' away from her.

Reddit isn't allowing more than 1 pic so I'll share a couple more below.

Peonies Envy

It's that time of year again! This is likely my last year with my current garden. I'm moving to a zone 10 & I can't take my peonies with me. So I'm spending a lot of time in my garden & taking tons of pictures.

Blue Lagoon

It's gardening season so I go SHORT. My accent finger is an old KB Shimmer thermal missing its tag, water decal, & Cirque Colors XX.

Unintentional Find

Yesterday, I dropped my kid at a movie & stopped by a thrift store to scope out what would be 50% off today. Really just a speed run to determine if I needed to wake up early for their opening.

Welp, I found this. WTF is this & why is it in a thrift store?!! Even worse, earlier this week we made the decision to move across the country so I've told myself no more furniture purchases. Furthermore, there was another thriftie who had just scored a dresser he was excited about & he was egging me on to buy it.

So, now it's in my garage 🤦🏼

I was doing a speed walk through the bric-a-brac aisles & found these 2.

The Fiesta candle holder is covered in wax. I've scraped the bigger glops off gently but there's an overall sticky coating of wax. What would be a safe way to remove the wax w/out damaging it?

Then, of course, they taped the fairy lamp up right over the top of the painting. Are there any tricks to getting the tape off w/out pulling any of the design off?
