BEAN SLINGER... I made a game where you climb a giant jelly beanstalk, sorting beans and fighting giants along the way. Finally got it out on Google Play - feedback welcome! (Please give me feedback!!! :))
Hey Mobile Gamers (Specifically those on Android!)!
I've been making this for the last 10 months or so and it finally went live on Google Play today. I wanted to share it here and let you all try it and most likely roast me on all the ways in which i went wrong lol.
Each level is supposed to resemble a shift on a factory belt. Beans come towards you and you flick beans from your tray at the ones that match. Solo matches count, and also if yo hit a group of two or more the whole lot pops. Let too many slip past unsorted, however, and it's game over.
Every level you clear grows you further up a giant beanstalk, where every 15 levels you stumble across a giant in a candy castle in the sky waiting to ambush you. The game flips into a full boss fight. You stand on one cloud lobbing beans at its head while it hurls lightning, ice and other themed projectiles back at you, and you have to beat it to claim the magic bean it's guarding. There are seven giants so far. They're very long and time consuming to make but would love to put more time into making more f this is successful. I also have toyed with the idea of alien bosses where they wiz around on floating UFO platforms and you have to jump between other moving floating platforms to collect beans and wang them at the aliens (Yes, the plan is for the beanstalk to grow into space and into other planets' atmospheres, and other celestial scenes eventually.
On the way up, bonus levels branch off the beanstalk, and they play completely differently. They're optional, but quite fun to be honest.
Then there's Overtime, an endless runner style / training mode where the belt just keeps going until you're overwhelmed. It has daily, weekly and monthly leaderboards if you want to see how you stack up against everyone else.
On ads, since I know it's the first thing people ask:
- It's free, and there are no ads to actually play the game, ever.
- There are optional ads that you can watch that give you things like power-ups.
- There are no in-app purchases, but I might make a paid for version where you can get power-ups on every level as default without having to watch ads.
I'd really appreciate any feedback, good or bad. This is the first time it's been in front of people who aren't me or my testers, so I'm sure there's stuff I've missed.
