So this is the city's plan? Just make a heat map? How about we come up with something better. Submit a video to the city of your neighbor shooting off a firework, and they get a $10,000 fine, and you get a cut (maybe $500?) if verified. It wouldn't get everyone the first year, but word would spread faster than the wildfire that could spread through town if one of these hits the wrong lawn or tree, and it would be far cheaper than responding to a block of structure fires. Do better, City Council.

Question about Signal/messenger alternatives

So, as I understand it, in order to use Signal as your daily messaging app, you have to have everyone you text use it also? I remember when it used to be able to text anyone with a less secure messaging protocol, but it has been years since I have used Signal, and I read that they did away with the ability to text outside of Signal. I used to have it, but I forgot my password and they informed me that there was no way to recover it, so that account was lost. I want to get away from Google messages but texting is my main form of communication (my only social media account is Reddit). What options are there for secure and private messaging that doesn't require an insular communication channel on just one app?

Where to recycle a non-functional home printer/scanner?

The A to Z list only lists printer cartriges. Does anyone know where the best place to take a printer/scanner would be? If anyone wants to fix it, the software works but gives a "Printer Failure" message that I can't find any info about online, and I bought a replacement already. It's at least 6 years old. It's an HP OfficeJet Pro 6978. If anyone wants to give it a go, you can have it for free.

How to imitate Steam's cloud sync function

Is there already an app or service that will help to sync game files between devices, similar to the Steam cloud, that I can host locally? I have a NAS, which is where I download all of my "non-Steam" games to first, before copying the files over to my desktop to install. My main rig is my office desktop, but I want to copy my saves between that and my living room/travel PC similar to how Steam does for games that you have between devices. Has anyone done this? Obviously, this would work best if my living room PC is synced while on my local network, but I'm sure I could use Tailscale to sync with it from elsewhere.
