We have been noticing phenomenal heat lately, which is only getting worse. The large-scale use of air conditioners, especially in cities, is said to cause a massive increase in this heat, and in cities, it would make the streets unbreathable.

However, as a young person, I find it reasonable to ask myself why I should have to suffer from this heat when the entire economy—forged and/or ignored by previous generations who took advantage of it to live comfortably until today—is worsening global warming on an international scale. People have been trying to make a difference for 10-20 years, but those who have always consumed in excess continue to do so, and apparently, we are the ones who have to pay for their actions by enduring a temperature of 45°C everywhere in Europe.

The question of maturity can also be raised: one must be mature enough not to make the situation worse (with air conditioners) even if one is suffering from it... but then again, what is the point if, on the other hand, you have older generations paying for cruises that are 1,000 times more polluting, and industrial giants literally waging war against each other to consume more oil?

I'm looking to buy my 1st thinkpad for my cs studies, and specs of this one are excellent ; I've been recommended 32gb of RAM to run VMs smoothly, 1 To of storage to work smoothly (rather than relying on a USB cord to access ext storage unit), a fair graphic card for some apps that work better on GPUs, and a Ryzen 7 chip or an intel i7 one

The ThinkPad P14s Gen 5 (AMD) is actually down to 1350 euros so it seems to be a really good promo, but I'm not really sure about two things :

- is it silent ? I don't really want it to turn out really noisy as soon as I'd start using 4 or 5 VMs in class
- should I buy it now or wait for the "Back to School" promotions ? Since it's 1350 rn instead or 1900, I thought of it as a really good deal, but I'm worried about better versions of it, like the gen 5, ending up at the same price in two months.

I’m gonna start my maths/informatics licence next year and my old laptop couldn’t handle them : it has only 16 gb of RAM, 500 gb SSD, and is really heavy and noisy.

Even if I’ll just start with a licence, I’ll hopefully specialise in cloud engineering, ML or cybersecurity, which means that I’ll need :
- 32 good gb of RAM to handle multiple virtual machines ;
- a 8 - 12 cores CPU for the same purpose alongside possibly cracking complex passwords in cyber ;
- at least 1 To SSD to store the VMs and give multiple OS decent storage ;
- a decent graphic card to handle things like MATLAB or PyTorch

I have a budget of around 1600€ since I’m hoping for this computer to last me 5-7 years, coupled with the “back to school” promo codes.
Right now I have eyes on the Lenovo P14 AMD G6, but considering Huawei is banned in the US for the heat competition it brings, I was wondering if I could find something way better here. Could I have some recs please ?

J’ai envie de m’orienter vers l’informatique après mon BAC spécialités mathématiques et NSI, avec physique que j’ai lâchée au début d’année.
J’ai le choix entre une Licence en maths/info, ou une licence pure informatique, en sachant que j’espère pouvoir me spécialiser avec un master (en cyber, IA, cloud, etc.) en fonction de l’évolution des professions
Le problème c’est que pdt tout le lycée ma moyenne de maths stagnait entre 13-14 en lutte prive, et je ne sais pas si c’est une bonne idée de poursuivre maths en licence (même si j’imagine quill y en aura forcément en info)
