This Boys last season was much more difficult to mess up than Stranger Things and GoT

I see a lot of people saying how the show is going down the GoT route and the Stranger Things route in terms of the last season being bad. I think that’s unfair -

The Boys is a much easier show to wrap up. There’s far less going on than GoT specifically and even Stranger Things, there was way more routes that could’ve went down. The Boys could’ve kept it simple but just pulled it off with good writing but they didn’t.

I would even argue at this point that the final season of Stranger Things was better overall and so far, I don’t see how The Boys finale will even live up to the Stranger Things one, despite its flaws.

And it’s really frustrating because I genuinely don’t understand how they went so wrong.

I just genuinely cannot get over how bad the penultimate episode was. And if the leaks for the finale are true - wtf.

Hi folks, I’m flying from Dublin to Perth on Sunday morning on my own (first time out of Europe, first time travelling alone) and I have a layover at Heathrow.

I arrive at T5 and am departing from T3. My layover is 1 hour 45 minutes. I have two questions -

Is that enough time?

Will I have to go through security again? It’s not a self connecting flight so I’m assuming I don’t have to worry about checking my bag in again? But I’m unsure about if I’ll have to go through security again.

Thanks in advance :)

Rewatching for the first time and ngl, I can barely remember most of what happens.

So I had completely forgotten that Annie straight up kills a man in S2E6 when trying to steal his car. I completely forget what happens after this so if she shows more regret or remorse than sorry in advance of this rant.

But - that was actual straight up murder. And all of them brush over it? She’s barely phased by it? Literally in the next couple of scenes she’s smiling about how Hughie uses baby shampoo as if she didn’t just end a father’s life a couple of hours ago.

And for those that will say he pulled a gun? Of course he did! The three of them looked dodgy AF and very much not the FBI like Butcher said. Butcher also was clearly reaching for his gun. Not only that, but the man didn’t seem like he was actually gojng to shoot because Butcher was literally walking up to him closer and closer and he didn’t pull the trigger he just seemed terrified. Annie did NOT have to use her powers like that. And the thing is, she didn’t mean to, she lost control of her powers because she panicked, it wasn’t intentional. So it just showed there was actually no need for that, I’m all for if she used her powers to get the gun off him somehow which I’m sorry, she should be able to do by now. She’s had them and used them long enough. But it’s the fact she just lost control and killed someone and then genuinely doesn’t seem remorseful? She gets a bit upset when she sees the baby seat in the car but that’s it. And then Butcher tells her “you did what you had to do” which isn’t true at all. Because she didn’t actually intentionally do anything she just panicked and lost control.

Which is literally one of the reasons the Boys hate the supes! Like Robin being killed because A Train couldn’t control himself or wouldn’t, and then he shows no remorse until later. Like surely this was an example of why Butcher and Hughie want to stop Vought and certain Supes.

Look I don’t even completely blame Annie for what happened but it’s her reaction that just is really hard to swallow. How is she not completely torn up about it? Surely she can see he wasn’t the bad guy for pulling a gun in that situation?

Maybe this is a wild or controversial take idk. To me it just seemed like straight up murder and none of them cared.

Would also like to add this was just a random civilian who was stopped by three very dodgy looking people in the middle of nowhere and Butcher looked out of his mind like he always does. This wasn’t like someone just started a fight with them and then pulled a gun. He was obviously just terrified

From season 4 it felt like there was a really good chance they’re going to go with the same ending as the comics for his character, in the sense that he’ll go way too far and Hughie will have to stop him (or at least I think that’s the ending for him). Like him being completely unhinged, killing Neuman etc. at the start of this season it seemed they were still going that direction.

However the latest episode showed his softer side again and had him telling Hughie he would try to help save Kimiko and Annie or at least allow them to be. I’m starting to think they’ll do some justice to his character and not just make him a maniac at the end. Or maybe showing glimpses of his softer side is just to make the ending hit even harder when he does lose it and takes it too far and Hughie has to kill him.

Personally I’d love if Butcher just sacrifices himself without going nuclear and trying to kill everyone. I think the comic book ending just wouldn’t feel satisfying for his character anymore because there’s just SO much back and forth of him going too far and it gets repetitive tbh. So him going out like that would just feel very “meh” to me. Too predictable maybe

Ew! I’m rewatching after years, I forgot most of the stuff that happpens but god. I hate the Tripp storyline the most so far.

Just everything about it.

  1. It was nice that Nate had one family member who seemed genuinely decent. Why ruin that!
  2. It happens so damn fast. He literally is a beacon of morality when he’s elected and is going to step down after the drowning incident and then THAT night he has a few drinks with Serena and then he’s willing to risk EVERYTHING? And then he stops himself and sets a boundary but then changes his mind instantly.
  3. Blair suddenly changing her mind and telling Serena to leave with him instead of going to Paris with her. Like oh yay he’s saying now after a chaotic dinner he’s going to give up everything for a girl he got close with for a few days? What? I was glad when Blair was harsh to Serena about it but then she switched up so fast
  4. Making his wife out to be evil. Yes she faked the drowning incident but that was partly to get the Grandfather to back off and also if it helps stopping a republican from getting elected, fair enough. Vanessa was an idiot in that situation by releasing the footage.
  5. Serena then immediately getting with Nate then. Like. Nate? Have some self respect! Serena? Learn to be alone for a while!

Oh and I forgot to include - the insanity that Serena would be hired to work in a Congressman’s office. She’s 18! No college education. Yes internships are a thing but typically someone would at least be in college studying politics or something related. And yes he obviously had alternative motivations from hiring her but I don’t know how things are done in the US but where I’m from, a politician couldn’t just hire someone without approval other people. And she never would’ve been.

My perspective on Cassie and Nate’s relationship is that Nate does have genuine feelings towards her and cares about her. Might be a wild take but from certain scenes it does seem he might be genuinely in love with her, like in the Limo after the wedding, he really cared about comforting her and making her happy when he easily could’ve just done a crappy job of reassuring her like most people do when they don’t actually care about their partner. Not saying it’s true love but I do think he’s convinced himself he loves her.

Cassie though, as we saw, literally does not care if Nate lives or dies. She was desperate for approval and validation. She never got the validation she wanted in life and winning Nate over from Maddy and everyone else was her biggest challenge and she won. She has him locked in. She does not care anymore and now just cares about getting validation from her peers overall.

Nate fell for Cassie because she was the only person that wouldn’t call him out on his BS and stay with him no matter how shitty and terrible he was. Cassie fell for Nate because it was the ultimate challenge for her to feel validated.

Now the validation has worn off and she needs more. Whereas I genuinely think Nate is trying to be a somewhat better person but he’s just a mess and is in way out of his depth. He doesn’t know the first thing about actually running a construction company and now he’s the one needing to prove himself to Cassie and everyone else.
