EVs in Karachi increasing?

Honestly seeing a lot of BYDs, So5s and Jaecoos in Karachi and it’s nice to see. We got both of our BYDs earlier in August aswell and the amount of them we’re seeing has slowly been ticking up(both EVs and PHEVs)

Is this representative of an increase in purchasing power or simply just a lower barrier of entry (for example the Atto 2 being in the 70L range)?

What are your guys thoughts on this and is this trend replicating in Isb and Lahore?

How to properly enjoy a car in Karachi?

We've got a nice C class at home which doesn't ever really come out. I love driving it, but I get so much road anxiety here, the only place where I feel somewhat okay is the Phase 8 and seaview area during low traffic hours. But even then, are there really no facilities or ways to properly open up and drive without worrying about other cars?

I've seen alot of people with protocols on their cars who end up doing it that way and end up shutting down a road or some crap but my family doesn't really have protocol so that not only isn't an option, it also just feels like a prick move.

Is Omni a good solution?

Class disparity in Karachi and across pakistan

This is a question focused at Karachiites but also across Pakistan. For reference I grew up in the USA and Dubai and then moved to Karachi when I was 10, growing up and even now I still have a pretty sheltered and privileged lifestyle, because of that I developed the perception that Karachi is a fairly wealthy city based on the cars I would see, people I would interact with and spaces I would hang out in as I got older. Now that I'm 21, and I've had a little more experience and I've read more about the country I've only just come to realize how utterly massive of a gap there is. I haven't had any hands on or first hand experience witnessing or living through that gap minus seeing poverty on the streets.

Can anyone here give some firsthand experience or knowledge about how bad the gap actually is in person compared to just purely number disparity

How bad is the economic disparity in Karachi in reality?

For reference, I'm from an admittedly privileged background. I rarely venture outside of civil lines/Clifton and DHA other than when I need to go to the airport or randomly for meetups. Where I live atleast in the city, everyone has really nice cars, SUVs, coupes etc. I always grew up thinking Karachi is a fairly rich city, places like Karachi Gymkhana and Sind club have also felt packed to me, they never really felt "exclusive". And for reference I didn't spend my childhood in Karachi, I moved here from abroad

But as I've gotten older and talked to more people online, it seems like the poverty divide in Karachi is really bad but also hidden very well depending on where you're from exactly

Mistreatment by Emirates, your guys experience?

Hey everyone, I've always read online and seen stories online that Emirates really mistreats passengers of south Asian descent, primarily Indian and Pakistani. I was wondering if any of y'all have experienced this in practice?

My families been flying with them since around 2007, and I had my skysurfers account made in 2008 when I was 3 and not once do I feel like I'd been discriminated against because of my passport or the fact I'm brown. Is it just reporting bias or is there an actual systemic issue, I get that my experience could be skewed because of my frequent flyer status but I've recently been downgraded back to blue/silver since I haven't been flying as much. And despite that they still treated me perfectly well

Finally decided to start last weekend

I'm pretty happy that I did honestly, I realized there's clearly demand for a certain type of star wars videos and I thought why not. I love the topic, clearly people love watching star wars related stuff and I'd like to think even if it's something that only nets me a few thousand views per video is be pretty happy with it.

Planning on only uploading once or twice a week, don't wanna burn myself out ngl.

Question about HYSA owners in Pakistan

Hey, how many of y'all have a HYSA? I don't know if they're offered locally in the same way that Ally does in the states, I've had an account in my name since 18 but I don't really touch that. My dad just adds a dollar amount every month to it from my personal savings but I'd also like something similar I can manage locally here in Pakistan, is there an equivalent here I can get into? I'm currently 21 for reference

It's good that this sub is controversial

Pakistani social society is inherently intolerant, and this isn't purely a religious issue yet also a cultural one, and it exists across economic class.

The issue in this country is that everyone believes they are right, their religion, whichever sect, whichever culture they belong to is superior and whatever family name they have is somehow worth more than the next guys. And the reason for that is Pakistani society is a massive ugly echo chamber, people marry and interact within their own families, they hangout with people that only confirm their own biases (I am equally guilty of this, I very rarely interact out of my own socio economic class or with overtly religious or cultural folk) and that's wrong. Because the only thing that does is make people incredibly hostile and intolerant.

I feel like atleast online, the scale of discourse in this sub aswell as between this sub and others is a much needed step that people absolutely need. Pakistanis need exposure to both sides, they need to see the ugly of their own side while also seeing the ugly of the other side. I am agnostic, I'm from an incredibly progressive family but I am still happy that we are seeing some level of interaction across the spectrum. Yes people are rude but that can change. This country needs more discourse exactly like this

I do wonder how they learn this rhetoric

Man, i really do try to do my best to not be a piece of shit. But I feel like every interaction I have online just pushes me further towards hate, and bigotry.

[For Hire] Language, Public Speaking and keynote delivery training

M21, looking to help with communication and confidence building measures

When we look at the Pakistani Marketspace, especially that for freelancers and young entrepreneurs, talent is rarely the lacking department. Instead, the biggest issue that ive identified is that of outreach and connection. And both of those points boil down to a singular word:

Communication.

I plan to help anyone solve that issue aswell as overcome that issue before they begin their freelancing or entrepreneurial journey. What makes me uniquely qualified to help people out is the simple fact that I have been an active member in the Pakistani aswell as international debate circuit, with awards from LUMS, Habib University, The City School, KGS and countless other elite tier institutions in Pakistan. I have spent 8 years of my life connecting, networking and growing alongside the very best of Pakistani academic society.

What I can do is:

- Provide classes on keynote delivery, improve your flow and most importantly your confidence.
- Help you prepare for any competitions, interviews or opportunities where your voice will be doing the heavy lifting
- Or simply aid and guide you on basic speaking tips and general confidence building measures.

Is it just me who had this experience?

I dont know if anyone else has had this experience but, does anyone else like not know what their dad did for work until you had to specifically go and ask them.
Obviously growing up I had the financial literacy of a fish, but around 16 when I started investing and my friends started asking me I realised I had no clue what my dad does for work. He's basically at home all day and we travel every year, eat out, have 3 cars and everything.

Alot of my friends thought hes a politician but idek any politicians. It wasnt until I asked him and he told me THEN that he used to do a business but then retired.

Cash out and reinvest or steady and hold

Hi everyone. Im currently 21, because of my dad I had investments in my name as early as when I was around the age of 16, and since 18 ive been in full control of my finances.

Im thankfully not from a financially precarious situation and theres no immediate financial pressure on me. However my portfolio since day one has been a very risky and quite volatile.

Despite that however, due to a few good calls(and some bad ones) it managed to balloon from 17K USD to around 59K USD, however for about a year now the value of the holdings has largely stagnated. Im considering selling this off and putting it all into ETFs now.

For reference this is not my only investment, my dad has a HYSA in my name aswell as an emergency funnd already setup. What would be the best way forward for my holdings?

Tired of the country and its people

Disclaimer: This post will likely come across as privileged nonsense

I was born in Pakistan, raised in Dubai and spent a good chunk of my life in the United States, I spend alot of my time abroad on vacation when I wasnt bogged down by A/O levels and now because of Uni im stuck here for another 2 years. Everyday I see some crap online about this country, another rape, another murder, another hashtag for everyone to post.

Then I open the comments, and its always the same thing, the messages of people praying, the messages of people saying Allah bless them, and the inevitable victim blaming from Desi uncles and teenagers with no knowledge of their suffering. Its tiresome, I know I have a privileged life here, I know I have everything I want and more, but I cant see myself staying in this country, I cant convince myself the people that live in this country are worth fighting for because everyone is so complacent and decadent, so obsessed over their faith, class and culture that they've blinded themselves to the fact the country is collapsing around them.

This country has failed every group it was supposed to protect, it failed the Muslims by allowing Islam to be warped into this horrible blend of toxic culture and political Islam, it failed the non-muslims by allowing extremism to run rampant.

I cannot wait to leave this country, I cannot wait to give up this passport and never even think of coming back, yet I know just having the ability to do this is a privilege few others have, so what happens to the rest of the people who dont
