HDFC Ergo policy advice

I have an HDFC Ergo Optima Secure policy, which I've had for 4 years. The base sum assured is 50 lakhs (25 for me + another 25 for my wife when I added her last year; there are two individual covers under the same policy, not a family floater). Neither of us has any PEDs, and we've never had to make a policy claim.

I would like to know if converting to a family floater has any advantages or if I should keep it as an individual policy.

With medical inflation on the rise and the fact that Optima Secure does not offer any NCB after two years when the sum assured basically triples, should I consider doubling the base sum assured during the next renewal instead of waiting a few years?

I bought this policy directly from the website. I had to make an update to the policy this year, and HDFC Ergo customer care was a nightmare. I had to escalate to the CGO for a minor update. Should I consider porting out next year and buying a policy through an intermediary this time? I am afraid that I will face the same troubles with customer care during any future claims.

HDFC ERGO Optima Secure disease diagnosis during policy period

I have an HDFC ERGO Optima Secure policy active since August 2022. My next renewal is due on August 11th.

I was diagnosed with a chronic illness in September 2024. I did not declare it during the last renewal (after reading a lot of online advice that diseases diagnosed during the policy term need not be declared).

This time, while going through the renewal process on the site, I noticed that there is a place where we have to acknowledge that we haven't consulted any doctor for any major illness during the policy period. After noticing that, this time I decided to declare the disease so that they don't use that as an excuse during a future hospital admission.

I followed their process and filled out the necessary form and shared the initial doctor's prescription (where the month of initial diagnosis and my age at that time are clearly mentioned) and test reports.

The customer care people are repeatedly responding to my emails, saying that these are not the first consultation papers. There was never a prior consultation for the issue. I don't know how they are coming to the conclusion that the papers are not FCP.

What can I do now with just 10 days remaining before the renewal date? Should I just port to a different company (if that is even possible at this stage)? Is escalating to a grievance officer going to be of any help?

Need to correct name on US Visa Application - India - B1/B2

My friend filled her DS-160 and US Visa Scheduling forms last week. She filled her name incorrectly on both (in the first name field she entered 'First Name + Last Name' and in the surname field she entered 'Last Name'). Hence, her last name is repeated twice. She wants to get it corrected. She raised a request on the USVisaScheduling portal and they advised her that they cannot help with the correction and she should proceed with her biometric appointment. The staff there will decide on this and may allow or decline the request.

What should be done now? Going for biometrics in a different city and having the request declined is too risky.

Has anyone faced a similar issue? What should be done?

Has anyone tried the checkvisaslots.com slot booking service in India for B1/B2 where they book the slots for you by charging $75? How was your experience and how is the refund process if they aren't able to find a slot?

LG 2 Ton AC works weird

I have an LG 2-ton AC from 2024. It works in weird ways. If I set it to 40% or HC mode, it works fine. As soon as I set it to 60%/80% or regular mode, ice starts forming on it. I called a technician, and he declared that it needs gas without even checking the pressure. Even at 40%, it chills the room if the outside temp is less than 40°C but over that it I have to run it on HC mode occasionally. Has anyone experienced something similar? What could it be?
