has anyone else experienced uber drivers almost reaching your location, then cancelling?
I've had this experience 5 times over the last 2 weeks. the driver will be 1 min away, then he won't move.
one time i actually caught them, they were just outside my building so I thought he made a mistake. when I asked him if he was here to pick me up he just mumbled a lot and finally said something like "...vere aale verum" and he cancelled the ride on the spot. i was so late for my function already that I didn't stay further i just ran to the bus stop.
another time the rider actually made it inside my flat and while I was telling him the pin he was like "um Njan ride cancel eythathanello". when I was confused he said ok nvm just get on. why would he come inside the gate if he meant to cancel the ride?
til now i only had this experience with uber bike so today I booked with a cab bc I had a function i had to be on time for. same thing, this dude made it til 200m and just stayed there. this time I was really mad though, and from other uber cab drivers I've heard that if they cancel the ride themselves they won't get rides for a long time. so even though I was getting late i made sure I won't be the one to cancel.
he ended up coming, after waiting almost 10 min at that spot and seemed to be in a bad mood. didn't look or talk to me the entire ride. idc. i feel some satisfaction now
but my question is, why do these drivers do this? whats the benefit gained from accepting a ride and then cancelling it when they reach the location?
