Are you guys interested in a subreddit space for Sri Lankans who aren't Teens?

Country's main subreddit ( r/srilanka ) is not really suitable to discuss random topics or low effort stuff that's not directly tied to Sri Lanka.
And further more there is a subreddit dedicated for teenagers under r/srilankanteenagers.

So thought about creating a subreddit dedicated for people who are not in teens yet want a chill space not only for serious discussions but out of context stuff too, and a space for posting anything

But mainly keeping it in English, similar to r/srilanka

(And yes moderated as well free from any sorts of weird stuff)

If you are interested could you show your support either via Upvote or Comments?

Working people in this subreddit, how is friendships are like after school/university?

So for bit of a context, most of us would've had good friends in schools (again could be a subjective term, considering what we might've considered as a friend in younger years), and the numbers slowly shrinking after going to university (which is the current phase I'm at, lots of people I know of, more like acquaintances than genuine bond and care for each other), then here me sitting and wondering how in a few more years friendship and that connection dynamic would feel like.

Will the friendships and actual bonds eventually turn into distance memories, and we focusing only in family (be it wife, children) and having just acquaintances for social needs (such as information passing, favours etc)

🫠 Would love some insights from working adults /university folks here and how you are managing it, and if you are someone who is still maintaining healthy friendships, would love to hear elaborated version of the dynamics

Hi pretty person, offering free hugs here!

Hey there stranger, you might or might not know me,
Today must've been tiresome / sad/ happy or whatever other kind of day for you.
Most of us don't get hugs and heck some of us can't remember last time we had a person to hug and feel there is someone there for us.
So today is a day to spread love and hugs!!

Consider me as your virtual friend / stranger / someone you like
and take these hug offerings from me, for going through many of the stuff you are going through strongly alone.

If you believe it's not strong enough, may these warm hugs provide you for bit of hope to keep pushing till it feels warm enough in your life!!

Love you all!!!

Tamil Yapping Exposed (Dusky vs Fair Person) - "Preference" vs "Statement"

This is going to be somewhat lengthy post.

The actions related to this post was triggerred by the following post.
https://www.reddit.com/r/tamilyapping/comments/1uwmf8x/comment/oxmxypp/?context=1&screen_view_count=2

So TL;DR the person was saying these days women's preference for 'Taller Men' than them is normalised (as it should be since it's preference after all), but when a man says He "Prefer" fair skinned girl he gets bashed/criticised/ not welcomed by the community.

I wanted to test this out myself and made 2 posts regarding this.
One explicitly saying I prefer fair skinned girls

Dusky - https://www.reddit.com/r/tamilyapping/s/VNUrDogJpF

Fair - https://www.reddit.com/r/tamilyapping/s/JRktgaSZbw

I thought the people here would be more suitable to know the difference between "preference" and "statement" but guess apparently I was wrong, as I got bashed for having a "preference" towards fair skinned girls.

The Dusky one got around more than 61k views and 400+ upvotes (it was around 100+upvotes around the 1 hour mark)

Which honestly left me baffling, because both of these was constructed in a similar manner to see the reactions, and left me worried about actual fair skinned peoples' silent hatred they are getting in the online space.

Literally both was centered towards, having a preference towards one tone of skin color, while Dusky Received Love and Support whilst the preference for Fair skinned got bashed.
Which doesn't seem fair?

A person claiming that fair skin is the beautiful one is something worthy to raise voice against, but bashing a person just for them having a preference towards a specific type in person is like reverse colorism.

Which behavior should be called out for, just as equal as when some one tries to deem "This color is the best skin color".

If you are a fair skinned person or saw any incidents around similar stuff like this give a comment.

I wish more people raise their voice regarding incidents and prejudice like these and understand the difference between a person having "preference" vs "statement".

Rumor has it, tamilyapping has secret cults forming in it.

So the rumor goes like, there are secret societies and friends groups formed in this subreddit itself and like ilumnati 😙 and rumor has it that there are both upvote and down vote mafias

So have you ever been in part of these friends groups / cults? 🙂‍↔️

Is it me getting older or the humor getting weirder among Sri Lankan young adults these days

So for context, I run a sri lankan discord server (kind of like a networking chill one), trying to make it close as possible to feel professional, and chill, like this subreddit.

But issue comes in like most of the memes and jokes I see teenagers and young adultls posting are like weird.

What I mean is, most of the stuff are just AI slop, of some random ai generated face or some really oddly edited picture of a person or a thing (at this point I'm not even sure if there is an exact way to call it as), and first I was like maybe this is what new generation is into? But then it gets into uncanny amount of the repititive stuff
throwing phrases like "67", "ts frying?" "holy cornball" and god like some other really different slangs and terms and doing "ragebaits" and finding humor in that using slurs and offensive sexual stuff and calling it funny.

I don't hate trend, but it just feels a bit weird for me to see those for some reason, as in it's feeling like that humor is lacking some essence. (Like brain rotted and not actually funny but rather annoying)

So lately I've tried implementing stuff to get rid of these by making rules strict and stuff, which got me backlash of the place not being chill.

So I want some opinion and ideas from you all, especially fellow young adults and teenagers on, do you guys actually like the ragebaits and all the ai generated, uncanny looking memes, using slurs and stuff?
Or am I getting old and these are the current trends and actual humor now or any other feeling the same way as me as these new trends aren't as humorous but more on irritating part?
Or all these just within the discord/instagram kind of social media space, and it doesn't go beyond that?

Please give your honest opinions on this as it would be helpful to understand for me as well as others reading this.
