Pretending to be a therapist
Hello everyone,
Wondering your thoughts on this. There is a woman on social media who lives in my neighborhood and I personally know, but we are not friends. She has a large IG following and an online neuropsychology business (selling supplements and such), makes videos about clinical psychology and sells sessions. On her Instagram she mentions that she is a therapist in videos and captions. She sells virtual sessions on her website although there she doesn't specifically call it "therapy" but therapeutic services, mind coaching, that kind of thing. She also states shes a nutritionist and in a recent speaking event, she says she has " every degree and license you can think of", but never lists them or her credentials anywhere. A recent IG story shows her talking about her day and how she just finished invoicing "patients" and a new post advertises free therapy to executives. but when you click on the provided link, it says spots are full but you can email to see how she can help. Such a scam.
The thing is, she has no formal education in psychology or counseling, no license that I can see and not even a registered business. She is a beautiful, young, charismatic Caucasian woman, so no one ever questions her. Years ago, I reported her to the department of health, providing them screenshots, but nothing came of it. I think they need an actual "victim" to take it seriously? Can anything be done here to make her stop fooling people.
