Unless it's a gay vacation town like Puerto Vallarta or Sitges, how do we know if they accept bookings?

Do lighting, scent, music, decor, etc. enhance your sensual experience?

I'm looking for a Skinner/Krycek h/c story from early 2000s, I don't remember the author. Skinner is called by a neighbor telling him there's smoke coming out of the chimney in his cabin. Skinner drives there to find Krycek with a gunshot wound and his clone, a child, whose traumatic memories Alex had erased, also ill. Skinner calls his buddy, a doctor, who will save Alex. Skinner adopts the clone child, who looks exactly like Alex. Alex and Skinner end up living together and raising the child, who becomes a happy and lovely young man.

Would you read a novel with useful insight into relationships and friendships, a happy ending, and a protagonist couple who just happens to be (realistic) gay?
