big fan of the game so far, my friends are both in college and im at home but all 3 of us are able to hop on every other night and scream our lungs out at some of the crazy shit in this game. the resolution on xbox is GODAWFUL, but everything else is fantastic, i love the different weapon loudouts, artstyle, map design, weird critters and ox mechanic for raiding the jungle loot.

the first GOW came out before i was born, and im a legal adult now, which im sure will make most of this subreddit feel old. i adored halo growing up but never got into gears, for no reason other than i just didnt look into it. after binging all 3 games in the span of 2 months, i absolutely fucking adored them, but man, i was really expecting some dumb macho testosterone fest like an 80s schwarzenegger movie, but was instead slapped across my dumb face with a really sensitive and emotional story. doms death came out of fucking nowhere and it was the last thing i expected, and it really bent me outta shape, and im still feeling pretty awful about it. i just started reading aspho fields, and the dialogue between dom and baird about maria makes it so much worse when you think about what he must have been feeling in those 3 years between GOW 2 and 3. man, this series is something special

truly a perfect band in my eyes, every song is a 10/10. the slidey power chord groove riff into the breakdown of this song gets stuck in my head all the time

looking for some real small bands that deserve more attention and something to just be absolutely miserable to. im super into this long island emo/hardcore band High Reach, def check em out!! any recs from you guys?

just rewatched blood for dracula last night, and it only worsened how badly i miss udo kier. such an incredible actor and wonderful human being who simply truly loved any and all kinds of film as long as it was made with passion. he seemed like such a kind, intelligent guy and im gutted by the fact that i'll never see a new performance from him. what are some of your favorite roles from udo kier?

I absolutely adore the wolf creek films, and the underrated tv series and prequel novels. mick taylor is simply one of cinemas most undersung villains and one of the most captivating, disgustingly charming nasty fucks ever put to screen. every second with john jarrat on screen has me glued to it. i also have to bring up how damn good the characters are.

slasher horror is well known for lame, one dimensional, mostly horny douchebag characters, but wolf creek goes in the opposite direction. the first film spends 45 minutes letting you get to know these characters and getting you to care about them, which just makes the horror so much worse with what happens to them later.

i love how with the sequel, they know they dont have to introduce the villain a second time, and its all mick all the time with this one and its just so much fun. its completely bonkers and feels so different to the very grounded first film, and yet its still incredible. the citizenship test scene is so tense and horrific yet hilarious at the same time.

the tv series is unexpectedly great too, with really good and memorable side characters. the first season being almost a whos-hunting-who kinda thing was such a cool idea, and season two is just pure slasher joy.

anyone else love this series as much as me? its probably my all time favorite horror film series and im extremely excited for both the third film and third tv season both confirmed to come out soon.

after some looking around it looks like this hasnt been asked in the subreddit for a while so id like to see what people's current all time favorites are. ive always adored axel the pervy nurse getting his throat cut with a hacksaw and his head twisted all the way around in part 4, its so overkill. i also adore freeburg getting cut in half in the hallway in freddy vs jason.

i just recently started getting into hammer's gothic horror films, i marathoned horror of dracula, curse of frankenstein and revenge of frankenstein all in one afternoon and adored all 3 films. peter cushing is incredible. his delightfully evil version of dr frankenstein blows all the other dr frankenstein performances ive seen out of the water, and hammer's bright colors and beautiful set design makes for a really unique and cozy atmosphere and im now obsessed. what films should i watch next? what are your favorites? i think im going to check out curse of the werewolf and plague of the zombies next.
