I was aware Grim Hollow came out awhile ago, but I had no idea the d20 group had adopted it so whole heartedly. Wonder if Brennan just lets anything on dndbeyond in, or if he did encourage certain 3rd party sources this season in like Grim Hollow?

Been doing a solo play of DCC as a version of myself, but since the rules for mob balancing starts at 2 players, I added an animal sidekick. Did it all with random table rolls in book and got a pugilist mouse I called Tracy Bond-Street (found her in Bond Street Tube station).

It's so funny having the mouse be the physically strongest member of the party, who punched a goat so hard it died.

However, even a fair fight (2 mobs vs 2 of us) brings me really low hp, the tutorial floors are tough.

Side note, using Mythic GME 2nd edition for tables and threads.

It's pretty clear how strong the recent TB archetype from EX12 is, given it's high appearance and placement in tournaments/regionals since it came out. Despite only having 1 set, it's able to consistently win, with every deletion bringing it closer to a Susanoomon-execute victory. It's reasonable for some people to get upset about such a strong deck, and we see this in the discussions about it. People want a solution, some even want an emergency ban.

Then next set, Bandai sells the perfect solution. The Chronomon cards, designed to neuter the strengths of Susanoomon and most of the other TB cards.

Chronomon Holy Mode can remove cards from the opponent's trash, preventing the execute egg and slowing down Susan. Giant Slayer can't be DP reduced which stops Susano's effect, and if they swing, their when attacking to move Giant Slayer isn't optional, which triggers Giant Slayer going into Destroy Mode (whose still immune to DP reduction) and will put cards on the stack back on the deck. It's not dedigivolve, that means they can Susan next turn, it's actively reducing choices in the trash. Cherubimon even lets you copy their execute rush strategy, then turning giant slayer into holy mode instead of dying.

Even the other TB level 6s have reduced effectiveness. Amaterasumon can't DP reduce, Kaguya's blocker-retaliation is not effective when holy mode grants progress and piercing, Ryugamon is held back slightly if you can control what's in their trash. Not to mention Holy Mode lets you delete then move from trash, which turns off so many deletion effects.

Long story short, Bandai wanted people to get mad about TB, see it as a massive threat, then sell the solution in the next set, so people would be hyped for Chronomon. Now I'm not sure if Chronomon is designed to do just as well against Jupitermon, but it's a necessary silver bullet to the 'TB Menace'. And players will buy that, which means hunting for SRs and URs.
