Update on the sus i3 I test drove

So a couple weeks ago I posted about my experience test driving a malfunctioning i3 Rex at a dealer by me

I did not go through with the purchase because of an unclear transaction price and the dealer giving me shit for wanting to get it inspected by a BMW dealer.

It has turned up in a new dealer in a different state. The VIN is the same, as are those fugly racing stripes on the hood.

Subaru Is Spending Three Times More To Sell EVs Than Gas Cars. It's Not Working

I'm wondering where some of these figures are coming from. In my area the incentives are not that generous ($1500 on purchases, $3k on leases).

the leases are still expensive ($450 a month on a base Uncharted) because the depreciation assumptions are steep.

i3 Rex engine activating at 50% battery

So I test drove an i3 Rex at a non-BMW dealer in NY, and it was at 50% battery. During the test drive, the engine turned on.

The sales rep said that was due to the Comfort mode setting. With this being a US-spec car, I find that hard to believe.

Was this car Bimmercoded, or is something else afoot? The dealer is giving me some flack for wanting to have the car inspected at a BMW dealer nearby (I said I would pay for that inspection), so I might just walk away entirely.

Criminal summons for biking in Brooklyn

Earlier today I was stopped by a cop who said that I disobeyed a stop sign. I definitely slowed down but I don't remember if I made a full stop. He said that it was a criminal violation, and that he wrote me a criminal summons.

Regardless of what actually happened....didn't the city change its policy on criminal summons back in March?

I took a break from car searching to deal with potentially expensive issues with my home. In the meantime I feel like I missed the boat on buying a used i3 (or Bolt for that matter) entirely.
