Happy Birthday to meee

Hii, I just turned 26, and I got a few dollars as a gift so I took it to my local retro shop. It wasn’t for a deal or anything, just retail, but it was in really good condition, just a few black scuffs so I carefully took a Q Tip to some isopropyl and those came right up. Label is in great condition and the battery was dead but I got it replaced so it’s now good to go for some new saves. Super excited to get absorbed into Hyrule tonight!! :)

UNHINGED GAMECUBE

hi so my wife and I have been getting into a number of GameCube and retro games lately. Well yesterday, we found a copy of the original animal crossing at a local retro exchange shop and we both love new horizons so much, we wanted to check it out. So we snagged it for a decent enough retail price. Anyways, We’ve been playing for a bit and I recently made my own character, and I’m delivering something to twirp and bro just hits me with this and I’m dying of laughter right now, holy crap this game is so unhinged and just built different

It doesn’t help that I just had Lo Mein for dinner and I’m actually feeling fat and bloated LOL I will say though that I’m unironically loving twirp and this level of attitude and personality really adds so much color to animal crossing, it’s amazing

Look at what I found! Nostalgia here I come

So I was just cleaning out my childhood closet and I came across this absolute gem, I didn’t realize it was kept in tact all of these years. I kept digging and found a box with all of my old games! My dad even kept the original Wii box, instruction manuals AND the original receipt! I also found my childhood TV, and I hooked it all up and everything works! Just missing the sensor bar. So I’ve been using two candles (thanks internet lol) there’s photos on here, bought N64 games digitally) I have an aftermarket GameCube controller from GameStop (although for some reason the only GameCube game of mine that I could find is finding Nemo, even though I know I had a lot more) I also have skyward sword digitally on here too, and all of my games still have their old save data!!

I am just in nostalgia heaven right now. I connected it to my hotspot just so I could get into the Wii shop channel for the music and I felt the dopamine rushing in the second it hit lol

Plus there’s games here I can show my wife, she didn’t grow up with a Wii so this is really awesome! She loves new horizons so now she gets to play city folk and she’s really excited about it! Or even the original animal crossing if I can either find my GameCube games or we can visit our local retro stores.

Ugh this is just so awesome!!

SNES!

Hii, I just wanted to share that I got an SNES for my 26th birthday! Seems silly but I’m really happy about it. I’ve exhausted a lot of my titles on the NES, I’m just so excited for some of the games I can play on it. Right now I have super Mario world but I hope to get more!

And actually to make this a bit more engaging, my family got me Mario world because they know that’s one of my all time favorites but I’d love to get something co-op that I can play with my dad, and I know this may be hard to answer without knowing my specific tastes, but let me know of any of your personal favorite co-op time suckers!

Anyways, my senior year of college starts next week, so I will be enjoying this weekend to its fullest lol just felt like sharing!

Real talk

Okay so like the health benefits of losing 250+ pounds are absolutely amazing but the real W is that I finally fit in this random Naruto shirt that I bought years ago with the hope that I could one day wear it lol

Fall Advice

Hii, I was hoping to ask for some brief advice about my fall schedule. So for context, I’m starting my senior year towards my B.S. in Psychology with plans to apply for the upcoming Ph.D. cycle. I transferred to ASU as a third year from community college. Anyways, I have like this small kind of silly bucket list of things to knock out before departing ASU and I’m at a crossroads. I don’t know if this is just dumb, but I’ve always wanted to sit for one of those big iconic lectures, with 400+ seats. Transferring from community college, I never got that. I have room in my credits for a foundation of behavior, so I can take SOC 101 to satisfy this! However, I’m also considering taking ASB 368 hunter gatherers, as I have a big interest in this course based on it’s summary, this course would satisfy the same requirement as SOC 101 but without the big lecture hall draw and I can’t take both so I need to pick. The ASB course would satiate my interest in human evolution and would have direct connections to the kind of research that I’m doing and want to do, but I’m afraid of regretting not getting the big lecture hall experience that I wanted. If I don’t take SOC 101 this fall, I don’t have room in my spring schedule to do this so it’s really my only chance to.

Anyways that’s my dilemma right now. Open to any and all thoughts on this. You can also call me dumb for going after the SOC 101 experience for those reasons, that would be surprisingly helpful too lol

P.S. on the off chance that anyone here has a syllabus on ASB 368 hunter-gatherers and could slide it into my DM’s that could also help me make this decision. I would take it with Dr. Marean on Tempe campus

Thanks a bunch :)

Ph.D. Odds?

Hey everyone, I’ll try to keep this brief. I plan to meet with my advisors on this soon, but I wanted to also just post here too for extra feedback/advice.

I know that Clinical Psychology Ph.D.s are very, very competitive. I’ve been spending my summer exploring program options and for a while, I considered research-oriented programs in human factors and human-computer interaction, a lot of my research in undergraduate has centered on this. But I’ve been contemplating on pivoting to clinical psychology. It is worth mentioning that I have no clinical experience. I’m entering my senior year now and I’m getting ready for application season for Fall 2027 starts. With that said, please let me brief my background:

3.8 GPA
1.5 yrs research across 2 labs
1 Publication
2 Presentations at national conferences
Some TA Experience
3 Solid Recommendation Letters/sources with research faculty that I’ve spent substantial time with.
Honors Thesis

All of my research experience has involved the human interaction with AI or other forms of media (social media presentation-digital communication etc.)

I’m particularly interested in making a pivot into health psychology. I want to do work with eating disorders, and the role of media in that equation.

I’m sure that a thread like this pops up all the time, so I’m seriously sorry if this kind of topic gets to be repetitive. Just know that I seriously appreciate all and any advice.

First day of fitness boxing!

Hii! So this might be kind of random, but I just wanted to share that my wife and I tried the fitness boxing game for the first time today! We were looking for a workout that we can do indoors. We live in Arizona, so regular walks/jogs in this heat can be a bit much, so we wanted an alternative to supplement that. We picked up Miku boxing while it was on sale. My wife loves miku, so it checked a lot of boxes lol. Anyways, what a wonderful workout. I love that it's fully exercise oriented (how it tracks the metrics, asks for basic data (weight, height etc.) and it was a great workout! I got the vertical sleeve gastrectomy over a year ago, I've lost 200 pounds in my journey, and I'm about 60-70 pounds from my ideal weight. Who knows, maybe Miku will get me there!
