Elevate rewards if you drive with light foot

Drove my ZX CVT Elevate from Mumbai to Pune outskirt and back around 540kms . 70 percent highway and expressway and 30 percent city traffic. The car rewards with fuel efficiency if you drive with light foot . I was still able to maintain an average speed of 80kmph and got this mileage. Elevate is turning out to be a fuss free car. Just get into the car , drive , refuel and drive and its keeps on munching miles .

First long trip update

This was my first long trip after getting my pre-owned Honda Elevate. It was a 700 km trip through the Samruddhi Mahamarg. Will share positive and negative of the car basis my experience of driving Honda Elevate for roughly 9 hours.

Positive :

- The ADAS function are a driver's delight on a well lane marked expressway like Samruddhi Mahamarg. The moment I got into the expressway, I had engaged cruise control and lane keep assist with the collision mitigation system on. The ADAS works like a charm and made the journey much less stressful.

- The iVTEC 1.5 pulls in effortlessly at all legal speeds. Maintained an average speed of 100kmph (highest allowed is 120) and covered distance in no time. Truly a mile muncher

- Driving at 100kmph , I got a mileage of 16.5 km to a litre . Could have easily taken this past 18 driving at 80 but then once you get used to 100kmph+ speed , 80 feels too slow

- The car felt planted at triple digit speeds. No drama during overtake or passing over minor undulation on the expressway. Ride quality is extremely good and neither did I feel tired after the journey nor did I get any complains from other passengers in the car seated in the rear

- Rear passengers were happy of the enormous leg space available. For average indian height , the seats are very good and provide good comfort over long distances

- The AC is a chiller. Maintained at 26 degree and nobody had any complaints

- Music system is decent and I am happy with stock speakers. Android auto worked without any fuss specially after the software update

- Steering feel at triple digit speeds gives confidence and does not feel nervous

- While I have seen many videos of high NVH , honestly I was absolutely fine coming from driving a Ford Figo 1.5 diesel. There is definitely tyre and wind noise but with music playing all throughout, I was not at all bothered by NVH issue as such. In fact the moment iVTEC rushed past 3000 rpm , the engine grunt sounded like music to ears. Loved it to the core . The pull beyond 4000 rpm is insane .

- Had filled nitrogen in all 4 tyres. 33 PSI and 29 degree . By the time we finished , the tyres were at 36PSI and 49 degree. Overall I feel they did well. Have a internal TPMS installed integrated with Android Auto.

Negetive

- 40L fuel tank capacity is just not enough. With fuel stations not as frequent as other expressway, had to plan a bit to ensure we don't run low on fuel. Had to refuel twice

- The adaptive cruise control is agressive when picking up speeds after trailing a slower vehicle. Took me some time to get used to

- With sun shining bright , sorely missed the sun blinds which come default with creta or seltos. Had the magnetic sunshade which did its job well

- Rear right side was making squeking soumd at low speeds but was all good at high speed. Was unable to isolate the problem. Any feedback from other elevate owners if they have faced thos issue would be helpful

- I am 5'10'' and at times I was trying to adjust myself within the seat to get a good seating position. I was finding if difficult to decide where to place my right leg during cruise control. Again any suggestions would be highly appreciated

- The adaptive cruise control did give a false alarm a twice. Any vehicle which even slightly cuts your lane will cause the elevate to reduce speed which took me by surprise and by the time I could realize what happened the preceding vehicle had already gone back to its lane

Overall I am extremely impressed with this car and somewhat happy about my hard earned money well spent.

Cheers and wishing all elevate owners safe mile munching!

Honda Elevate infotainment screen firmware update (DIY)

Got a used Honda Elevate ZX CVT a few weeks ago. One of the first things I noticed was that Wireless Android Auto would occasionally disconnect.

Not a huge issue, but annoying. There were also a couple of instances where it wouldn’t reconnect automatically after disconnecting, and I had to restart the ignition to get it working again.

Checked the infotainment firmware and found that mine was still on the factory version 01.000.001, while .611 was available.

Apparently, the update is normally done at the Honda service centre. I didn’t really want to make a trip just for a firmware update, so I looked around and came across the Alpine India website. Alpine is the OEM for the Elevate infotainment system, and they provide the firmware file and instructions for updating it.

The update itself was surprisingly easy. Followed the instructions and the whole thing took around 4 minutes.

I haven't had enough time to check whether the Android Auto disconnection issue is actually fixed, so I'll update this post after a few days of driving.

Initial impression, though: the system feels a little snappier, and voice commands seem to respond slightly faster.

Sharing this in case anyone else with an Elevate is running the older firmware and wants to try updating it themselves rather than visiting the service centre.

Bought a used Elevate : Suggestions needed

Got a used ZX CVT Elevate 2024 registered (Mumbai). Been using the car for a week now and while I did test drive the car in the showroom and liked it at the very first instance, now that I am living with it , I have come across some irritants which I wanted to share and seek opinions from other owners .

- Car is excellent at high speed but low speed behaviour is jiggly and keeps swaying on bad roads at very low speed. Not that I am really concerned but got the tire pressure reduced to 31 psi to check if things improve. Seems slightly better but would want to hear from others

- The infotainment screen at times hangs with Android Auto . It still has the default factory firmware I am told that a firmware upgrade would solve this. Can others confirm ?

- Is there any way to split the android auto screen where I can see both the lane assist camera feed and the maps together. As of now I have stopped using the lanes assist specially for unknown areas and turns as it takes up the entire screen and I am not able to see the maps

- I am yet to find a good seating position and comfort . At 5'10 , should I lower the seat to minimum ? Suggestions pls

- Have you faced issue with the Collision Mitigation Braking system. As a precaution and given that I travel mostly in bumper to bumper traffic in Mumbai , I have changed the sensitivity to near and have not come across any issues so far.

- I got a mileage of 9.5 km to a litre yesterday while commuting 70km (onwards and return) in extreme traffic (took me 4 hours and 28 mins). I had shifted from manual to automatic and was elated by the sheer comfort and convenience of this car. I am fairly confident that with my driving style and on days where traffic is relatively less , I should be able to extract 11-12 km to a litre in city. A question to fellow owners : Is this ok or there are better driving practices which can still improve mileage

- The right rear side (may be near the boot) is making some noise only at low speed. Was unable to figure out the culprit. Plan to get it checked during the upcoming service . Any suggestions if others have faced similar issue

And while I wanted to really go for an ev from Tata (harrier or sierra) , better sense prevailed and I realised that all I need is a reliable and easy to drive car in city . Barring the above irritants , I am elated with this purchase and feeling good about money well spent . Got additional warranty for another 2 years (beyond 3rd year) for peace of mind.

Thanks

Tissot Classic Dream

Tissot Classic Dream : The ultimate Swiss budget-friendly quartz dress watch.

Mostly been using automatic watches for work but decided for a change to put this on today. There is a unique kind of sophistication in simplicity. While complicated dials definitely have their place, I love this watch for it's clean white dial and roman numerals and the sharp alpha hands give it just the right amount of modern edge. It’s classic, elegant, and effortlessly sophisticated without trying too hard...goes really well with a formal office wear

Addiesdive AD 2540 long term usage review

I've been using this watch as my daily driver for the last three months, so I thought I'd share my thoughts.

Overall, the watch has held up really well. I haven't noticed any QC issues so far. The only blemish is a tiny scratch on the right side near the crown, which somehow appeared without me even noticing when or how it happened.

The power reserve has been impressive. After wearing it throughout the week, it comfortably lasts through the weekend even with little or no wrist time, so it seems to live up to its claimed 40-hour power reserve.

The dial is undoubtedly the highlight. The textured desert dial looks far more premium than its price suggests, and I've received quite a few compliments on it. In bright light, it really comes alive and is bound to catch the attention of fellow watch enthusiasts.

The bracelet, however, is strictly average. That became quite obvious when I resized it. It's perfectly usable, but nothing to write home about.

My biggest gripe is the crown. It's a bit smaller than I'd prefer, making time and date adjustments slightly fiddly. It's not a deal-breaker, but it is a minor annoyance.

The lume is another average aspect of the watch. It does the job, but it's neither particularly bright nor long-lasting. I've definitely seen better lume at this price point.

Accuracy has been around +30 to +40 seconds per day, which I think is fairly typical for a watch in this category, so I wasn't expecting chronometer-level performance.

The screw-down crown provides good confidence against moisture. I've worn it in moderate rain a few times without any issues.

Overall, I'm very happy with the purchase. At around ₹10,000 from the Addiesdive website, I think it offers excellent value for money. If it continues to perform this well over the next year, I can definitely see myself picking up another Addiesdive automatic.
