Mechanicum Repair Bay Terrain (lots of pics)

Got some 40k terrain from polarisnorthstar and kit bashed together a mechanicum themed terrain piece. Basically a repair bay for knights or stalkers. The big crane part on the left is grimdark terrain. I added some bits blitz designs dudes and bits, a few vanguard miniatures dudes, and some dark arts miniatures emperor's choir dudes and a few from outpost estarn set. I also added a few lazy forger bits. Stoked with how it turned out, it's able to fit any knight or stalker as it will fit a 60mm base or smaller.

Also re-based my acastus porphyrion on the new bits blitz designs 60mm's, did up another as a bit of a diorama, still gotta put some more black wash and bit more astrogranite but mostly there.

Count As Solar Aux Tanks (lots of pics)

So these arrived on friday, managed to get them painted pretty quick. I also added some more details and bits to the ordnance conveyor (ordinatus). Put some dark arts miniatures emperor's choir dudes, a few vanguard miniatures dudes/bits and another bits blitz designs dude. I still haven't put the infantry together but I did cut a couple at the waist to glue on the tank's cupolas, one on the russ the other on the transports/chimera.

The battle tanks I'll just run as vanq russes. The artilltery tanks as basilisks. Not quite sure on the rest yet, might whip up some home brew rules. Same for the ordnance conveyor, might adapt the home brew rules I made for the ordinaturs ulator and just expand the weapon options a bit. It's sorta nuts that only 2 sprues builds 10 tanks. They're on troublemaker game's site and vanguard minis site.

TMG Novan Tanks and Ordnance Conveyor

These arrived on friday and was stoked to get them painted. I've yet to put the infantry together but hopefully this week. Really happy with the tanks, they went together really fast and look really good. The ordnance conveyor is awesome, I added some vanguard dudes and some bits blitz designs dudes/bits and a couple of dark arts miniatures emperor's choir dudes.

Ordnance Conveyor (Ordinatus)

So this arrived in the mail, got it painted immediately. There's 3 weapon options on sprue, there's enough cradles for 2 of the 3. I decided not to build the plasma one but built the other two. Really great kit, good size too. Apparently the cradle will also fit atop of warbringer nemesis titans. I modelled the little support legs down as it just looks a lot cooler. I took a few scale shots to compare it to the gdt crodax and the ordinatus ulator. Really great kit, shipping was faster than expected from uk to canada. Went together really fast. Vanguard miniatures has them, I ordered this one directly from troublemaker game's site.

New Board Setup Swampy Rocky Outlands (Lots of Pics)

So I'm working on a friend's set of warhammer hills. He's fortunate to have the cool out of print hill that can fit together to make a giant hill. In LI terms it's pretty huge, blocks a tonne of los to anything not a titan or flyer pretty much. I'm liking the new roads, they don't shift around at all. I wanted to go for more of an old school epic vibe so reached for some of the classic epic ruins. I used pretty much all the greenery I have in my terrain collection. I don't think I'm likely to have a game on this, but I am likely gonna do at least a diorama setup and get some more shorts. Likely gonna be traitor mechanicum vs SA and RG.

Legions Imperialis: Canis Major

Legions Imperialis: Canis Major

The 317th Deploy The Canis Major, Raider 1-1's mobile command vehicle, a leviathan class. The Raven Guard continue to encircle the forge. Legio Venator pushes the tech thralls out of the city. The Mechanicum go scorched earth on the promethium fields. Canis Major at the tip of the spear pushes towards the forge.

---------------------------------

I managed to get Bishok's ship to pickup the Leviathan, was going for a carry-all sorta vibe from dune. Bit light on narrative this time, hoping to perhaps write some fluff out to help flesh things out and tie the videos together a bit better.

The translation of Canis Major is "A Bigger Dog" and that's sorta the idea here. Tired of holding back, Raider Actual has called in his personal mobile hq to command from the front and bring the bigger dog to bear on the forge.

Thanks for watching :) frens

Solar Auxilia Leviathan Command Vehicle

Got the the thunderhead roads painted and wanted to get some more shots of the leviathan command vehicle.

Leviathan Command Vehicle Armoured Reconnaissance in force (lots of pics)

The 317th second armoured moves through the wasteland at company level probing the forge's defenses, at the tip of the spear is the leviathan command vehicle "Canis Major".

More shots than are needed obviously to show off the new command vehicle but may as well. I've added a some transfers and a few more details, magnetized the back radar dish and swapped out the central turrets from the plasma looking ones to dual lascannon ones. Likely calling it Canis Major (A Bigger Dog).

Thunderhead Studios Roads (work in progress)

New roads, they're by thunderhead studios, they're the same ones they sell as pre painted but they also sell the stl's. The immediate benefit of these is they lock together pretty well, a big problem with the smaller roads I have is unless taped down they tend to slide and drift all over the place during a game. This hashtag sorta setup is great because its much harder for it to slide around and the corners also help keep structures from sliding around somewhat and also offer an easy marker if they do get moved (you'd just slide the structure back into the corner of the roads).

The width is great, I wanted to do some scale shots to highlight just how wide they are, even a reaver base seemingly just fits and warhound and smaller bases obviously fit well, this is good for natural gaps between structure because it means the majority of units will fit with the exception of maybe warlord or warmaster titans.

For the road endings I've gone with half destroyed half tunnel entrances. I'm likely gonna get some more parts printed for corners and some more destroyed sections/tunnels. The tunnel entrances are cool in that I could see making some fairly simple house rules for them. I also had one of the cool crashed thunderbolts printed, might make for a cool secondary objective, like u scatter where it crashes and its worth vp's end game.

Gonna try and get them painted up quick.

2550Pts Titandeath with some tanks

We both had 10 activations/detachments. 5 would move on from our board edges turn 1, the other 5 would remain in reserve and be rolled for from turn 2 onwards. On turn 2 each detachment arrives on a 3+, turn 3 it's a 3+ with are-roll, turn 4 they just arrive if they haven't come in yet. Everything was in by turn 3. We did corner deployment zones so for turn 1 both sides could only come in from their corner board edges (24x30) but from turn 2 onward that just switched to being either sides entire board edge. This kept it interesting as we agreed the reaver and larger scale titans had to start in reserve. Also used end game scoring, each objective being worth 3vp and each player's tank commander worth 1vp if killed. Final score was 10vp to 7vp. I held 3 objectives, my opponent held 2, the center objective was in neither sides possession and we had both taken out the other's tank commander for 1vp.

The tanks were pretty easy to include on top of things as we both basiacally had mirror matched lists in terms of titans and knights, not right down to weapon loadout but we both had a warlord, reaver, two warhounds, a cerastus knight lancer and an acastus knight for exactly 2k points, and then approximately 550pts of tanks on top.

We used 2/3 of the titandeath rules changes, we used coordinated fire and calibrated voidshields but not focused ire. And obviously did a custom mission.

So, it's no titanicus, but just comparing the experience to a normal game of legion imperialis, titandeath plays way way faster. A big part of this is resolving shooting attacks is the majority of the battle, and its much faster to resolve than close combat. I believe the only cc was from the lancers and that was pretty fast.

The weapon choices are still pretty cynical/obvious in terms of efficacy, we both agreed not to take any volcano cannons, but even with that we basically both default mostly to what can spit the most dice at least on the warlords as we both ended up with all gatling. The hounds I tried dual missile on the lucius both old tried ad true dual vmb on the other. Reaver I did missiles and gatling. Opponent did turbolaser up top for his reaver and it did okay.

Bottom line for a 2500+ point game it played really fast compared to li and its a reminder that li's biggest weakness currently is to be able to play it at 3k the amount of time one needs to set aside often doesn't feel well calibrated to reality or even at times feel worth it. Great spectacle but can be very draining with so many activations/minis/moving parts.

Legion Imperialis scale Aquila Strongpoint

So I finally managed to get the turret done, had to do a bit of a kit bash because the barrel was too small, ended up using a grimdark terrain bit for the barrel. For purely nostalgic reasons I felt I sorta had to give it the gold/bronze ish look.

Leviathan Command Vehicle

Not quite 100% done but close enough, probably gonna add some transfers and do some cleanup but it's mostly there.

New Structure WIP

Had this printed way bigger than stock size so it'd block more los/fit more infantry on the roof. Had my friend also print just a small outline of the structure to replace it with when it gets destroyed as area terrain, added some bits to make it look more like rubble. I added a plastic bit to the roof to block off the stairs so bases don't fall down into the structure. The aquila turret isn't glued but it ended up fitting perfectly. Very cool structure https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/hab-unit-villa You can see the stock size in the render pics. I just wanted it to hold like 4 or more bases up top. Happy with the new size, stoked to get it painted.

Legions Imperialis Leviathan Command Vehicle WIP

So finally got the leviathan command vehicle built and primed. Gonna try and paint it up very soon. I've attached the rules that are also wip. I didn't have enough lascannon turrets so I put a couple plasma ones, might swap them out later to it looks a bit better. Happy with the size, I know the old epic ones were very small comparatively but this feels "right" to my eye as it dwarves pretty much everything tank wise and its big enough to land an arvus lighter on top of which is great, also big enough to fit a 25mm base. I'm probably gonna magnetize the radar dish.

Painted some vanquisher russes for a friend's solar auxilia army. Mostly astrogranite and dawnstone dry drybrush. Leadbelcher for the tracks/guns and added some highlights with a chrome/silver paint pen.
